I'm trying really hard, but I just don't find this game very fun.

I'm not usually one of those dudes who hates RTWP games, and I've been playing Pathfinder TTRPG for years and years. But every part of this game feels like a chore to slog through.

Are there any other good RPGs out now? I need a fix and this isn't doing it.

She's ok. I should point out, I don't hate the characters in the game, I think they're fine and the plot is standard D&D fare, it's decent enough without trying to be some sweeping epic critique on morality and the human condition like a lot of RPGs try and fail at.

It's just everything between those story moments that's boring.

Thank YOU user! You ARE a GOOD user!

only the old ones sadly poe is even more chore
what chapter you playing now?

>The spider cave
Fuck that part

>but I just don't find this game very fun
That's because it's just not very fun
Try hand of fate 2, it's sorely underrated

That's just a core trait of any good CRPG. If it's not painful to playthrough then it might let the casuals in

I don't remember whether it was PoE or Torment, though I think it was the first PoE that I played and I just lost the plot halfway through and couldn't follow anything that was going on. It just sorta spun off the rails with names and lore and places that made no sense and characters who's motives I couldn't understand. That makes me sound like a retard, but whatever. If I can't follow why I'm doing something in an RPG, then I can't really enjoy what I'm doing.

Right now in Kingmaker I think I'm in chapter 2? I don't know how to tell. I'm not long after the start of my Barony and my advisors keep fucking up every mission I give them, so I've been going out and clearing landmarks instead. I think right now I'm trying to solve the whole troll issue, just picked up a black hunter.

I don't really enjoy the kingdom building, it feels slow and unsatisfying, and the fact that the gameplay outside of doing your own exploration is just WoW Bounty Board style "Pick a hero, send them on a quest for X days, see if they succeed at the end" shit doesn't do any favors.

>Try hand of fate 2, it's sorely underrated
I loved Hand of Fate and have played about half of it. I probably should actually sit down to finish some day, but there were some scenario goals I just couldn't get through.

Let me guess, you are a zoomer.
you are just not the demographic my friend.
Its for people who enjoy crpgs and want a modern fantasy one without it being pg 13 and safe and proper like POE is but also not a full on joke like original sin is.

There's a turn-based mod if you enjoy that more. I know it makes all the difference to me. First chapter is and always will be a slog. desu I just use mods like bag of tricks, respec, and that kingdom management one to customize my game more. It's pretty ok.

>Let me guess, you are a zoomer.
No, I'm 30 years old, I grew up on RPGs like Ultima and Might & Magic, and my favorite games are Ultima V and Morrowind. I've played through more CRPGs than most people can name.

I can still tell when I'm not having fun with a game. I've also been writing and DMing tabletop games for 15 years.

>Its for people who enjoy crpgs and want a modern fantasy one without it being pg 13 and safe and proper like POE is but also not a full on joke like original sin is.
I don't know what this means. Are you speaking about Kingmaker here?

i would honestly let the barony go on auto mode and just do the adventuring or atleast get the diffuculty down if you have problem with it i actually liked pathfinder and spended around 150 h in the game but i understand why some people may not like it sometimes there were a lot of trash mobs and it taked time until the plot kicked in

other than that im sadly not avare any modern western crpg you can try store.steampowered.com/app/250520/UnderRail/

or if you are one of the people who play rpg for story i would recommend you to try some jrpg

you can try your luck on rpgcodex.net they have patrician taste when it comes to rpg you can find some gems

I did just start using the turn based mod, and it works a lot better. By default, the RTWP mode feels a lot like Ultima VII where combat just sort of turns into a moshpit of people swinging, dying, and there's very little fine control over it. That's fine in games like U7 where your characters are powerful, but in this game where one stray crit can take down a character in an instant, it's not great.

I guess I'm spoiled, I hated DivOS2's story but the combat system was great and I wish more games had a fluent approach to RPG combat like it.

Is the actual kingdom management stuff in this good? The idea of it seems cool but I have a suspicion than in practice you're basically just playing Baldur's Gate 2 with a slightly longer Keep sidequest

there some decision that have some effect but the whole building system is disapoinment well partly becouse when you start it seems that you cannot visit the places you build
but you actually can(only outtide of the main city) and there some quests too the game is just very bad about explaining shit to the player

Depends how you define "good". I'm not super deep in it, but as I said the core component of it is WoW Bounty Table stuff. You pick advisors, you send them on missions that take a certain number of days, and either they're successful and you get some points, or they fail and you lose some. It's based on dice rolls and the advisor's stats and shit.

You can spend points to build buildings in your settlement, but not like a city builder game, more like a WoW Garrison where you hotswap between buildings in a grid and lay them out based on what bonuses they give you.

Every so often, you get someone coming to your throne room with a request or quest or something.

It's ok, but it's just too shallow to be really in-depth and complex, but just too complicated to be anything more than kind of tedious.

As someone said, you can just set it to Auto and instead go out on normal adventuring.

To be honest I only play these kind of games for the level ups, character progression with as many choices as D&D has is my jam
Gameplay is not really that fun, and only the top tier games of the genre have an engaging story, most of them are just boring with annoying characters

PILLARS. OF. ETERNITY.

is bad and even more chore

lmao

No, not anymore. It is full of consoletards who praise Dark Souls and /pol/ edgelords. Has been like that for several years at least.

they still have good taste rpgcodex.net/content.php?id=11193

Isn't there an RPG forum for Spanish speakers where you can go?

First 2-3 hours may be hard on normal and higher difficulty cause your party have only a few HP. It will become better near the prologue end after your party hit 4-5 lvl. Then you can switch turn-based on only on hard fights, because there is a lot of fights in this game and play all of them turn based would feel forever.

>#12 Dark Souls
I mean, what's your point? It's pretty much the the same list they made years ago, sprinkled with "gems" like Dark Souls/Witcher 3. Granted, there are some genuinely good additions like AoD and ELEX, but it's the same old same old.

And I wasn't talking about the survey but rather the quality of discussions. There are fewer and fewer places where you can refer to Ultima or Wizardry when talking about modern games and not look like a retard, Yea Forums and codex are sadly not such places - Yea Forums has never been and Codex is no longer one.

It's ok, but i advise you to use kingdom resolution mod it will a free you from some frustration.

Ewww.

heh i disagree there still a lot of discussion about old games but i understand that not everyone like the political atmosphere on that site on the other hand what could say right wing people like me who gets banned only by hinting that i disagree with something anyway
you can try rpgwatch they are the opposite of codex and from what i know they also have decent userbase

Ok.

I know of all those sites mate, I've been a Codex member since 2007.
And the fact that you are "right wing" and have to somehow tie it into the dialogue somehow does not surprise me in the slightest.

ELEX was shit that's only on the map because of the studio that developed it.

i reacted to the fact that you mentioned the /pol/ edgelords

Let me guess, a chicken killed you and now you are buttmad?

You can try the turn based mod. Or maybe you'd find it better if you can breeze through the battles, which require tailored builds, and a lot of familiarity with the system (which basically amounts to buffmaxx)
