This makes no sense. It’s not like driving a car, 8 digital inputs vs analog is very subjective. What isn’t subjective is any time you want to go the opposite direction, and holding A to D has no ‘analog’ lag.

It’s the combination of having tons of shortcut keys surrounding WASD and a MOUSE. You simply cannot compare mouselook to sticklook, and we’re talking about first person shooters. I enjoy Souls games and others where ‘aiming’ with a mouse or stick isn’t important.

That’s fine. Two things: You’re talking about shooters. There’s very little point to 360 cardinal directions when you’re being shot at, you’re mainly occupied with strafing left to right and crouching/jumping.
Secondly, you’re talking about Overwatch. Even Call of Duty has some start-up/slow-down to their movement while Overwatch has next to none. It’s a huge pain on PC trying to predict movement because it’s very easy to do a sort of ‘tapdance’ alternating between A and D - and if it’s a pain in the ass with a mouse, imagine shooting them with a stick.
I totally respect your opinion but there’s nearly no benefit to using a stick for a shooter in place of what’s essentially a d-pad while forgoing the most powerful tool you can ever have for a shooter: a mouse.
The irony now is how easy as fuck all this ‘shootan’ is because so many games balance it around the insanely limited sticks.

Overwatch is such a simple game, there is no reason for it to be 30fps. They originally said OW would never be on switch because it wasnt powerful enough. lies. game should def be 60fps. no excuses. though trying to keep the switch online while in handheld mode might be a problem for some people.

I think there is a place for 360 direction it just gives you more options for movement and you can control acceleration and deceleration.
