I play characters who I like the playstyles of first and foremost. This usually leads me to characters who are massive mountains of muscle and/or fat. That's not a strict rule though; I vastly prefer Haohmaru and Darli Dagger to Earthquake for example.

Kliff from GG, Heigachi/Wang from Tekken, Gen in Street Fighter and so on. If it doesnt have cool old bearded guys I go for the dad types like Slayer os Sasyu Kusanagi.
