Astral Chain director says that the game was originally going to be a medieval fantasy with the player controlling two...

Thank fuck they changed it. Sci-fi police with superpowered monsters as police dogs is WAY more interesting than fantazy game №20157b.

Capcom did it with V. But people don't like V so it's probably a good thing Platinum went the route they did.

>Nintendo said to make it sci fi because there are too many fantasy games
I wouldn't change what we got except to remove the Evashit but I don't think Platinum have ever done a real high fantasy game and I really want to see that now.

They're doing Babylon's Fall now and they did some parts of Granblue Fantasy Relink if it ever comes out.

I think it is. I think that Astral Chain was literally Scalebound and Nintendo told them to change the setting to avoid lawsuits. That's my own personal conspiracy theory though.

correction, Nintendo said to make it sci-fi because monolithsoft's next big project is gonna be a medieval fantasy type thing and they didn't want the themes to overlap
feel free to screencap this post

it's already well known that monolith are working on a medieval fantasy game, likely a new IP at that.

>medival fantasy with player controlling two legions instead of one.
We already have that though. Chaos Legion. This game is fine as it is.

I massively prefer sci-fi to fantasy so this worked out great for me.

Any other Swede here who can't get a physical copy until the end of the month because of UPS's fuckup?

I read an interview with the producer a few months ago and he indicated that yes this was recycled from Scalebound, after M$ fucked that game up platinum thought it was too good of a game mechanic to let die, and started working on a new IP to use it in.
