that's /thread pretty much
I'd just add tmnt turtles in time

In no particular order:

Knights of the round
Streets of Rage 2
Sengoku 3
Aliens vs Predator

Attached: image.jpg (1280x720, 123K)

My favs
Cadillacs & Dinosaurs and Punisher for the fast gameplay type while staying "normal-ish"
King of Dragons for simple and precise gameplay
Knights of the Round and Tower of Doom for the more complex swordfighting. Shadow over Mystara is a bit over the top for my taste and it tends to favor more cheesy and spammy tactics than ToD, but I can see why it is generally preferred

Could never really get into Konami beat'em ups. Too many invul frames.
Or console beat'em ups. Usually stretched too long.

I spent the time to unlock everything in Streets of Rage Remake. Love that shit so much. After that probably a Dungeons and Dragons game. I like my beat em' ups with options. Lots of options.

fight n rage
sengoku 3
dynamite deka series (dynamite cop)

Attached: lostmyskill.webm (850x480, 2.84M)

turtles in time is the best hands down

Attached: lowskillcombos.webm (850x480, 2.8M)

Turtles in Time
Double Dragon Neon
Ringo
River City
Scott Pilgrim
D&D

I like King of Monsters just for the music and designs

Is the crt screen optional? It looks awful.

Attached: fighters.webm (798x596, 2.76M)

For consoles:
Streets of Rage 1 and 2
River City Ransom
Turtles 3 NES
Scott Pilgrim

For arcades:
Tons of great ones, most of the Capcom games are amazing. Konami beat em ups aren't as good or complex, but still fun. Also stuff like Sengoku 3.

Battle Circuit is my favorite at the moment.
I love King of the Monsters 2

Used to play co-op with my brothers all the time. Good times. Only the SNES version though, I should try the arcade one sometime.

That OST is the SNES version, I prefer it to the Neo Geo arcade version for the same reason. Nostalgia playing it with my brother.

Castle Crashers is up there, so much fun.
And turtles in time.

Arcade OST sounds intense in comparison

Alien vs Predator
TMNT 2 Arcade Edition
Streets of Rage 2

How can i get this game work on Retroarch? I've tried every core and every setting, nothing work

Sengoku 3 for older stuff, Scott Pilgrim for newer.
Good taste.

ragnarok battle offline

Shadows Over Mystara
Alien vs Predator

Sengoku 3 was one of my favorites too, haha.

Also another favorite was Violent Storm

I played this with my brother too. Good times.

The CRT screen and scanline effects are completely optional.

The Punisher (arcade)
Double Dragon II (NES)
Alien vs. Predator (arcade)
Final Fight (arcade)
Cadillacs & Dinosaurs (arcade)
Vendetta (arcade)
Shodai Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun (SNES)
Shin Nekketsu Kouha - Kunio-tachi no Banka (SNES)
Return of Double Dragon (SNES [Super Famicom version specifically])
Final Fight 3 (SNES)

That's probably more or less my top 10 (in no order). Honorable mentions (also in no order):
Violent Storm (arcade)
Denjin Makai (arcade)
Guardians aka Denjin Makai II (arcade)
Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom (arcade)
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara (arcade)
Warriors of Fate (arcade)
Battle Circuit (arcade)
River City Ransom (NES)
Double Dragon (arcade)
Double Dragon Advance (GBA)

Streets of Rage 2
Castle Crashers
Capcom's D&D
Battle Circuit
Final Fight 3

Viewtiful Joe. More a beat-em-up than a platformer anyway.

Are there any beat-em-ups that have a little more complexity to them other than crowd control? Not getting into crazy DMC territory, but something with more options than an auto-combo and jumping attack.

VJ is kind of its own beast, it is an awesome game though.

Castle Crashers has a lot of platforming elements mixed in, a level up system, etc. Also Full Metal Furies but that has some shitty design decisions along with its good ones.

Violent Storm is the golden standard for me, its concentrated 80's from an early 90's perspective. Movie, anime, manga refferences up the ass.

Fight'n Rage.

is this game any good?

I have fond memories of the Konami quarter munchers, but when I played later in life realized was stretched out and inundated with palette swap enemies.

The Tick on the Genesis was a beat em up that had a good laugh at the palette swap thing. That’s really all I remember about it tho.

inb4 forced meme cock suckers ruin this good thread

What's the take on a game like Phantom Breakers?

seems like the sengoku 3 rom doesn't work on kawaks. any other ways to play on PC?

Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds? I like the graphics and music, but the gameplay lacks depth and devolves to spamming the same move over and over, you even stop doing combos.

Fight'n Rage.

If you want to go older, Final Fight 3 was one of the earliest times I've seen where a beat 'em up had some special moves. You could also try Battle Circuit.

My dream would be to have a beat 'em up with the ridiculous move arsenals of Dungeon Fighter, but properly balanced so you you aren't instantly shredding entire stages in seconds. Ragnarok Battle Offline comes close.

Are you?

Powered Gear
Sengoku 3
Final Fight

Mame?

This is one had some cool fatalities.

Captain Commando
Dynamite Deka EX
Oriental Legend 2
TMNT GBA
Capcom D&D games
Ninja Warriors Once Again
Denjin Makai 2

Dragon's Crown

Sengoku 3 (arcade)
Gaia Crusaders (arcade)
Denjin Makai (arcade)
Guardians aka Denjin Makai II (arcade)

Streets of Rage Remake is so fucking good and it makes me sad to see what they're doing with SoR4. They should've just hired the SoRR guys to polish it up and add more content similar to what they did with Sonic Mania.

I don't "get" beat 'em ups, I used to like streets of rage as a kid back when I played it at a friends house, but now they just seem mind numbing and repetitive, maybe Im not on the right midset ot maybe I'm missing the co-op factor but I have no one to play with, I dunno, what can I use to play co-op with random strangers these days?

or at the very least what are some beat 'em ups that are fun in singleplayer.

Golden Axe 3 on Genesis is the best in the series

My fave because I'm a dirty weeb that likes magical girls

Attached: smoon.jpg (1280x720, 123K)

Capcom's Dungeons & Dragons dilogy, you have items, spells and different special moves for every character.

Play beat em ups with online multiplayer. There are probably mame builds with netplay. I think you can even use Fightcade for some co-op games. Use parsec.

>C&D and punisher
My negro!!
Fast gameplay is the best gameplay

dump the uranus timestop doujin you fucking degenerate
i know you have it

Stop using shitty catchall emulators.

>download reatroarch
>cant load content
>reinstall on C: since the user directory has special characters
>cant load content

fuck this actually worked on a prior version

>Dungeons and dragons - shadow over mystara.
>Dragon's crown
>Castle crashers.

can't find it on Steam right now but it was released as part of Neo Geo 25th anniversary bundle. You can torrent it here.
