Nothing, it was a great console just a tough generation. Technology was at an awkward time and sony had really strong exclusives that put the ps4 well ahead of the competition and even passed the 360 in sales.
You can't install linux on new ones.

Nothing it had a shitty start up unlike the xbone it got better as the generation went on, I think the reason it caught up the the Xbox 360 was because it actually had exclusive games
you can get it all back on Slimline PS3s if you jailbreak it (which is as easy as opening your web browser nowadays)

this, fucking sony became jewed and tried to cuck us out of features but based modders saved the day again.
Basically the strategy was to build a console with weird architecture so MS and PC would be completely isolated from developers. If the PS3 became the base platform then PC and MS would get shitty ports and thus the PS3 would get more sales. It backfired and it was the biggest laughing stock we've ever seen.
The Cell processor and everything about the way it was developed, produced, and deployed. Ken Kutaragi and his "weird computers make magic" mentality got clipped after that.

Nothing. Genuinely great console, but mine just fucking died. Well, it's not dead, but it takes a fucking year to load anything. Even shit like opening doors or transitioning to a battle screen on a JRPG takes forever to load.
I am really fucking sad.

A modded PS3 is the best console. Mine is completely full of PS1, PS2, and PS3 games. I've started playing Xenogears on mine as of late.
The only bad thing about it is that for a console that will accept any shitty old HID USB joystick, they really half-assed DS4 support. It's like a Sony engineer tasked with PS3 legacy development snuck in a driver he wrote out of boredom one day. They could have at least made the PS button work, not to mention the compatibility issues...
hmm, id say a modded xbox 360 is pretty much equivalent, removes restrictions on emulating og xbox games and most of them work, also having possibility of emulating both n64 and ps1, and a proper mame port.
the one thing the ps3 holds an advantage is able to play multiplayer through offical sony servers instead of the "online system link".

No. You can't do a full CFW exploit but you can use something called "Hencore" which is similar. I think playing backup games work on it but I'm not too sure, never really did much research on it.
