normally interest in the game drops about a month before the next patch kicks in. I'm not sure how big a draw the nier stuff will be though, game might stay dead until the next part of eden drops in like...february.

everyone finishes the content quickly because you can marathon it, then you hit the endgame wall and go do something else
every expansion is designed like this so people quit the game due to lack of content instead of fatigue (though people still quit because the game is kinda boring)
then every time they release a new expansion, they guarantee get alot of subs to come back because they didn't hate the game yet
