I've never played Danganronpa because I think it looks gay and retarded, but I enjoyed Your Turn to Die. I may get over my preconceived notions about Danganronpa some day, but I really dislike the look of it.

I disagree, I like this artstyle, though some of the portraits look weird like when you see Keiji from the side and he has his hand on his hip, but I much prefer the style to Danganronpa's which I find very unappealing.

There's one thing this game did better than other "Death Games". By introducing the roles and the fact that someone HAS to die, it's already much more believable for people to be conniving bastards looking out for #1 first and foremost.

If you only rely on the prisoner's dilemma, any logical group of people is going to co-operate every single time as to have everyone survive, and any story claiming otherwise will take a hit to its believability due to that.

I think the graphics in the later areas are a lot better than the early stuff. The school in the prologue had me rolling with laughter at how stupid it looked but once the game gets going things improve dramatically

I have this idea for people being trapped in an always-changing mansion because they were named in this one fucker’s will and they keep getting screwed over by whatever supernatural object they inherit and/or kill for Inheritances they become obsessed about. They can’t leave the property because the will is still being read by the man’s deformed lawyer and new heirs keep arriving, most of them subtly themed after stock horror monsters.

One thing I like about YTTD over Danganronpa is that the cast is tighter and no character feels pointless or like filler. Even after they die, every characters has some amount of relevance whereas in Danganronpa there's a number of characters where after they die it's like they never existed.

Not really, I've gone and replayed ace attorney games but I don't think I'd ever replay a DR game.
All in all there's very few good trials in DR. Nothing in the first game is worth revisiting, the second game only has the Nagito sequences but the trial is a slog because it's full of pointless filler characters yelling at you that the case is solved and that you're wasting your time. Very similar to the fifth case in V3 come to think of it, decent crime set up with the entire cast sandbagging it and not letting you discuss it because it's so obvious what happened why are you questioning it. For a game so strongly tied to its characters the characters end up being the least enjoyable part because the survivors are awful in all of them, so as the game progresses your cast just gets worse and worse.
Scenes and reveals don't really have time to build up or simmer because the player has ADHD and you need to throw minigames in every minute. (Something KgS started doing in part 2 with the whole keep the mouse cursor on the heart to calm them down none sense and I don't like it.)
The games clearly assume you have the attention span of a turnip because it constantly flashes back to things you saw not even five minutes ago and repeats everything several times. It might be warranted given how many speedreaders get exposed in these threads but I'd still rather deal with retards when discussing something than being treated like a retard while reading.

Its nothing like Danganronpa though. Theres no murders or trials or anything, It doesn't have light dating sim mechanics, theres no token mascot character being a jackass, and it has choices that actually change the story / characters.

Gins going to end up working with the organization. Hes the one who took Mishima's head and hid it inside his doll.

It's enjoyable, at least before you sit down and think about how stupid the plot actually is. It's a game that's solely carried by the characters, twists and OST.

These "Death Games" have very clear rules that are laid out to everyone partaking in them. Thus, they know that by co-operating they will all get out safely, albeit slower.
