The so called pathetic 30k was Japan nearly selling out its physical stock. Nintendo had pretty much been banking on people taking advantage of the cheaper digital cards (which is all sold out) and the vouchers (the game is #1 ranked in the eshop), so they were completely right in predicting the low physical sales numbers.

It was, it was their best selling game by far. The head of Platinum said it saved the company essentially and allowed them to keep being independent. Which makes me feel conflicted about it because I didn't like the game, but I'm glad the studio found success.

Absolutely based, hopefully both Platinum and Nintendo are really happy with how this partnership went and Nintendo gives Platinum big backing so they don't have to sell themselves to every other side project to make rent, and Platinum start churning out more games of Astral Chain's caliber for Nintendo. Everybody wins

This is a massively underestimated thing outside of Japan. It makes a HUGE difference. The price of Astral Chain is ¥8,616. The two tickets are ¥9,980, and a subscription for a year is only ¥2,400. Getting a year of online and the tickets is only an extra ¥3,764, AND you get another game out of it. The tickets are doing fucking AMAZINGLY in Japan. Instead of getting a second game for $40 after buying the first at full price it's like getting a second game for $10 after getting the first one full price.

And even with being a sucess it doesn't generate fanart like automata and xenoblade 2 did (and are still doing, specially xenoblade 2), goddammit.

I actually played automata instead of watching the cutscenes on youtube so I know this is just flat out wrong.

I mostly try to get super armor and as many anti- abilities as possible, usually through 1 slots with 2 bonuses. Parry attack is Mahaa Kalaa and can be useful in place of a perfect call. Only particular setup i've found useful is Call Lock +3 on axe legion, which gives you an effectively infinite shield for 3 sec on each call in.
Auto-Sync is a big pitfall and will get you murdered in the late game.

Fill up on ones that have multiple effects.
But try to limit that skill spread to one ability node so it isn't wasted slots.

It’s weird because up until the end there’s some sense of realism they manage to give it even with all the fruit armor and zippers, but then the end happens and if you watch Kamen Rider for the more serious aspects it will take you out of it quite a bit.

If you have a WiiU, you owe it to yourself and the world at large to pick up Wonderful 101.

MGR:R is short with good combat, but I hated the out-of-combat parts. Automata has simpler combat and a different tone to the story. I thought it was decent at best but I haven't played the other Nier games and some people really sing its praises as one of the best games of the modern era. You'll need to repeat the beginning of the game with a different character to unlock all the endings. It's about 30-35 hours for the "true" ending in that game.

I’m at file seven, and when the combat clicked for me I went back and played previous files. I gotta admit, I hate doing everything with the mission over, it was never this bad in any of the other games, and I do miss just fucking rushing in and comboing until I can stun a bitch. That’s not to say I’m not enjoying Astral Chain’s combat at all, the more options I get the more natural the game has felt to me (holy fuck why couldn’t I just have cyclone from the start, this thing works wonders for crowd control), but man, that learning curve paired with having to do literally everything again while replaying levels hit me hard at first

I care about graphics more than most people but only to the extant that I want the best possible version of a given game. In this case, this is going to be the only version, so whining about it doesn’t make any sense.

I watched W, OOO,went back to see Decade, then watched Fourze all in the span of a week. I didn't watch Gaim because it was still airing at the time and I don't like having to wait for new episodes.

I really need to hop back in, the series was fantastic. Any Pre-Decade Kamen Riders I should be watching on top of that?

I’m enjoying it a lot but it depends on what type of media you like in general. I’m a big fan of Platinum, police theming, and cyberpunk so it’s a good mix for me.

It's impressive how fun that game is when its combat is pretty much distilled into four buttons - attack, block, jump, and gadget

While the game did have HENSHIN it was sorta barebones. Maybe in the sequel they can make it more like this.

I'm in training and the game has more or less finally clicked in a final, horrible kind of way.

It doesn't want me to play this like an action game, because despite all appearances and advertising it's not one. It's some kind of experimental RPG/Puzzle-Platformer/Anime game.

Except it’s garbage. It’s rhythm game crap with no nuance because it’s purely reactive. Parry the thing, hit their block, parry the thing, hit their block, epic cinematic deathblow that they shrug off, and then the next phase starts with different attack timings. For the entire fucking game.

I mean in the sense Grabd Zio can use everyone powers, AC henshin can only do a claw combo attack, it would be better if it used attacks and abilities from all the legions.
