This game's online is utter trash because there is now no way to counter huge leads without hoping the person in first fucks up dramatically. Warp Orbs were already terrible at doing their job, Clocks at least were an inconvenience. People complained this was "unfair" but apparently First Place Blue Shields Team Racing is fair. And it's hilarious people try to defend this under the guise of "skill", if a group of about equally skilled racers are racing, whoever gets item fucked in the beginning has lost the race already. If you assume two racers race the map perfectly, only one person gets fucked by an item, there is no way at all the item hit player is going to beat the first place racer. This is why the online is dogshit, that and having no host migration in fucking 2019.

My stance is that we should do it. Everything about the characters are already completely customizable and if a character appeals to someone but the driving style doesn’t they’re either going to deal with it or just pick someone that they like using.

I don’t know how it could harm it. People like to jump to the worst case scenario that everybody is just going to start using speed but I don’t think that’s the case since everyone has preferences on how they race. As it stands right now when people want a competitive edge they end up picking speed characters and the occasional accel anyways. Don’t get me wrong turn has their uses but the eventual end game is to be able to use speed consistently. Buffing is an option but my opinion is that it will only put balanced and accel on a more even playing field. Anyone can do well but if they’re trying to do well consistently they’re going to pick classes that don’t depend so heavily on the randomness of the game. I don’t think knowing what class other characters are is a big deal but I’ve seen that be one of the primary concerns of others so maybe adding some way to identify them would solve that issue.

Think about this long term. You're essentially defeating yourself by adding Engine Swap.

The reality of the situation is that classes are very poorly balanced, we all know that. We can also see that GPs are getting lazier, which supports the claims that only a skeleton crew is working on the game. As it is now, class imbalance is a glaring issue that has to be addressed at some point. If you just turn everyone into Speed that solves nothing while at the same time making it much less of a priority because you can just tell them to play Speed. A game has a limited amount of support and won't get to a dress all of its problems, which is why it's so important to not shove an actually important flaw down the list of priorities to accommodate for some user's crappy bandaid of a "solution" he won't shut up about.

I only suggest this because I don’t know how else they would balance the game without fundamentally changing the way it’s played. Of course engine swap is the easiest and laziest but the alternative is way more work. Accel isn’t very noticeable and uturn/air braking gives every class as much handling as they could need. Draining reserves from u turns would make maintaining blue fire annoying and gimp other classes too since it’s a useful technique for everyone. Making everyone’s blue fire speed the same is an option but blue fire tracks is where turn/balance characters shine already. I think the slower speed allows them to control it better.

It doesn’t make them pointless. They’re useful because they’re slower and easier to control for those who haven’t mastered the game yet. It’s especially apparent on blue fire tracks when they can keep it the whole time. It doesn’t justify playing them though once you’ve mastered a track.

Maybe the solution is to just make everyone equally fast? I don't really think it would make them overpowered, because low and high turning both have their downsides and benefits. Low turning is more convenient for snaking down straights, but high turning is better for getting around corners. Of course you can still u-turn around corners with low turning as well, so at that point it would really just be about your preferred handling style. But nobody would be losing out on top speed

Maybe for advanced players? I don’t know how much better perfect stat Penta is against speed but we could use that for reference. You also have to keep in mind that the classes are there to accommodate all skill levels. Turning is supposed to be a bit slower because that makes them easier to control for people that are learning.

Blue fire is really fun and satisfying to zip around the track with. It’s a massive blue ball to get clocked or slam into a potion though but that’s the nature of the game. I think the problem is tracks where there’s one or two pads right next to each other where you get once chance to make it last. Electron Avenue is easily one of my favorite tracks.

I want others to git gut, that's the problem. They can't master the blue fire as well as we do and sometimes it's just too much of a RNG for them.

Gnome Velo has a god tier victory animation

Prehistoric playground would hqve been top tier without USF or with a better USF placement.

Twilight Tour would have been top tier without the narrow easily blockable USF jump at the end, and less retarded wumpa crate placement.

Spyro Circuit should have been less narrow, shouldn't fuck you for landing on the grass or at the very least replace the grass with pits or something that actually makes sense, and the goddamn portals shouldn't auto center you. I also generally wish the Artisans world was more like Coco Park with large open spaces to drive on.

I feel the opposite that USF is more fun on levels where it's available several places like Ngin Labs, Thunderstruck and Electron Avenue. That way you don't get as fucked over by items and your skill at maintaining it as often as possible is tested.

I love it. I've gotten rekt in the beginning only to find my way back into the top 3 by end of the last lap

I can do it in 2:20, but it's still garbage when you get nearly twice as much for Electron Avenue, which I can do in 3:30.

be careful though, some shortcuts require precise timing or else you get fucked. that one in particular requires you to be looking directly at it and jump at the absolute last possible moment. it becomes second nature after a few tries.

nitro tour was the best, spyro gp is alright but i really hate the new track and the rewards.

the back in time one was the worst so far.
here's hopping the next one is better.

Twilight Tour track is pretty alright, if a bit too easy to keep blue fire. But the characters felt all copy & pasted for me, including their skins. The flags were cool but not the paintjobs.
Prehistoric Playground is a great track. Fuck babies but T-Rex was cool. The skins were the best yet, scientist ripper, saber pura and gladiator tiny.
Spyro Circuit is alright, least doesn't have blue fire autism. Needless to say Spyro is based.
