Top Tier VR Games?

I might have my hands on an Oculus Rift soon, any Yea Forums approved VR games? I've already got Pavlov on my list.
And uh general VR discussion thread if you wanna.

>finally get the money to invest in a new rig for VR
>for some fucking reason, all the VR goes to shit in impossible to find WMR HMDs like the odyssey+ anymore
>rift became absolute garbage with an even lower refresh rate (???)
>valve went all in and their new shit costs 1000pesos
what the fuck went so wrong?

inb4 gimmick fad that's already over

I give up on trying to discuss VR. I can tell the mods don't have the headsets because these threads always get nuked the moment people start discussing things they don't recognize from developer videos.

Depends what you like and your time/money tolerance. Games like Moss and SuperHot are relatively short but still great experiences to have. I think Lone Echo is a good lengthy title in any case.

WMRs are being phased out, no longer being restocked. Likely as part of Microsoft's plan for next-gen. It's early to give up.

Regular Rifts and Vives are soon to be outdated, grab only if cheap priced or if your PC can't handle better.

>Likely as part of Microsoft's plan for next-gen.
if their plan is to fuck people that are interested in VR over, then they did it

there's literally no reason to get into VR right now unless you got a 2080ti that's capable of handling the index, and then the money to throw at valve to get it on top

Even as a vr fan, I admit things have been quiet. There's still people playing vrchat and beatsaber but any new vr titles barely scratch the mainstream these days.

I don't think VR will die but it's probably going to be a niche until the standard is good enough for normies.

I'm getting it for $180 and I'm running a 1060, so that sounds like my situation.

I'm getting the superior Playstation VR bundle with Blood and Truth and Everybody's Golf. I will probably pick up Beat Saber too.

That seems very reasonable, it's going to hold out for 3 years or so easily.

The future of VR is on consoles. PC will always have a place but the gap is already huge and won't stop growing. Games like Iron Man VR are just the beginning.

Almost everything VR related these days has PSVR mentioning in it somewhere, even if we have to wait more time for releases. Whenever some VR game news isn't about PSVR, it's about the Quest.

Attached: white stockings.jpg (1295x1812, 385K)

WMR is a specification. MS isn't 'phasing it out' and doesn't have any control over what gets stocked. A bunch of early WMR headset makers that couldn't differentiate themselves gave up (dell, acer, asus). HP and Samsung are still producing headsets.

It's like Gaben said the tech isn't there yet for mass market.

Attached: Hype.jpg (825x600, 125K)

I've only played demos for those two but I liked them. Blood and Truth actually feels like a high budget VR game and Everybody's Golf was very technically impressive. These last several days I put 70 hours into No Man's Sky, it's been a blast.

Your argument is sound but the reality is that WMRs are increasingly more difficult to find. Considering the current scenario it's very difficult to imagine that Microsoft won't attempt to symmetrically oppose Sony's model for consolized VR, or at the very least release a headset that's more than just a "specification".

don't have many games but h3vr is a must buy
endless fun

I think it's going the same way as games in general. Consoles/stand-alone sets have the advertising and the masses but PC will always be the one for those who want more power, versatility and being able to develop games.

VR is a meme gimmick fad that is already over.

It just is.

Attached: 1567441197553.jpg (1280x720, 357K)

Nah. I never thought I would live to see the day when the holodeck from Star Trek was invented. This is ridiculously close.

Is no man's sky stable yet? I wanna try it on my vive.

>PC will always be the one for those who want more power, versatility and being able to develop games.
I think this is wrong too. Since Moore's law no longer applies, I think hardware specialized for gaming is the way to go from now on.

I can barely get the game up to 45 fps reprojection on 'enhanced' settings on my index. The last update with performance """""improvements""""" caused the game to run at 25fps and I uninstalled it. Ryzen 7 1800x / Vega64

I'd recommend getting a Quest as you can play PCVR games when you're at home, then take just the headset to your firend's house to play Beat Saber and Superhot. Here's my other thread discussing it:

How many rupees do you earn per post?

PCs will always have the better hardware though. It's just a case of how much you're willing to spend.

Even if specialised hardware is better, it's at a disadvantage if the only things you can play are company made/approved stuff.

Celebrating the failed rebirth of something that could be peak escapism. Fucking pathetic, kill yourself.

Literally the best VR game ever made, and a legitimately good game in its own right.

I sold my Vive in late 16 but really enjoyed that John Wick game.

>Beat saber with mods
>Minecraft with vivecraft mod or windows 10 edition
>Porn

That's it

H3VR, Beat Saber

stfu bytch

I need to get back to that. Edge of Nowhere was also nice.

Attached: honey_select_by_paji295-dahizwg.jpg (1191x670, 125K)

Edge of Nowhere had me fiending for a good The Thing game. Multiplayer, one person is infected and has to sureptiously take over the whole compound. Going around that place in VR would be super immersive.

Attached: Onwardflash.webm (1280x720, 2.96M)

I still need to get into Pavlov and the TTT servers. Used to play that a bit in garrys mod and there was a Thing map there.

I imagine a Thing game being like TTT but the infected switch teams, so they have to keep in cover.

Alien Isolation VR also fantastic.

I am on PSVR and it's stable but a lot of people complain about framerate on PC.

It's actually quite impressive that they managed a simultaneous release on PC and PSVR. The reason our version is actually smooth and stable is because Sony does not allow publishing any games that don't run at minimal VR framerate, hence why games take weeks/months extra to come out on PSVR. PC has no quality control so they felt it was acceptable to release it as-is.

Unironically the best version of NMS VR unless you have an Ultra-tier GPU.

Attached: 1553549387798.png (566x800, 741K)

Used to play that on the DK2 but I heard that mode doesn't work with new headsets and they had to make compromises. Tried it once but the screen shake effects made it hard to stay on.

I finally got a 3D bluray to work in VR.

Meh.

What kind of nonsense are you spewing?

WMR is hard to find because they don't sell and most companies backed out. Used Rift/Vive are better than any WMR and fairly similar price wise. Only something LIKE THE ODYSSEY+ is worth it, and only for racing/space/flight sim.

Rift S is meant to replace the WMR market but at a small premium in price. Index is meant to compete with Vive Pro and replace the middle/high end market.

You so new to gaming you forget that games have been $60 for 13 years now? Name another market where shit like that happens. The fact is if you can't afford it cry elsewhere.

How? Only method I found was ripping the disc to video with a trial of dvdfab.

WMR as a specification is being phased out you mongo. The controllers are definitely being phased out, if you didn't notice. The type of camera setup is really bad for VR and only works for simulation games with no touch/movement involved. They are going to reveal a 5-8 camera inside out setup soon since at the least that is what is needed for remotely acceptable tracking. Unless you have proof it isn't being phased out, shut the fuck up.

my point is that the rift S not only costs twice as much as WMRs but has an even worse refresh rate, the fact that you didn't even cite this nonsensical change in your post shows that you do not understand the importance of refresh rate in VR, most likely due to you never even trying it
do not reply to me ever again you brainlet

You are failing at being happy that VR is dying. Why? Because VR is selling more headsets now than in 2017. Dilate, cope, seethe, etc.

Distance

Attached: distance.webm (480x270, 2.83M)

Works perfect for me on a 2080ti. Index and Vive Pro and Pimax. Haven't thought to test on my 1080 ti rig though. Settings all higher and it is really smooth, although I do have one glitch when far away from planets their textures get culled, but it is hard to notice.

Makes me long for a driving game where you play with a controller and one Wand, and you have to juggle between the two to pick up a gun off your lap, lean out the window and shoot at things.

Good example of a regular game vastly improved by VR.

This is why the whole 'exclusives' thing is silly. VR doesn't need those kind of tactics when it's genuinely good.

>exclusives aren't necessary when we don't have any

"Top kek"

Attached: here are the games.jpg (3782x1690, 2.18M)

Yeah it sucks that PC doesn't have those games but I was talking about how people say stuff like Skyrim VR "doesn't count" simply because you can play it on desktop

That worked for Dredd 3D. It's impressive for a total of 2 mins out of a 90 min movie.

>Ace Combat 7

lol, it's like 3 missions?

I know, I was disappointed too. But it's still exclusive.

To be honest it actually looks and plays amazing, doesn't feel like a tech demo at all. It was supposed to be much longer but it was cut down severely. Bamco never had much faith in AC7.

I have faith for the future though.

"hurrrrrr VR game too short"

Oh. Funny enough that was the movie i ripped to watch in 3D and thought it was pretty great.

i just want better quality and higher FOV in elite dangerous, please VR gods bestow upon me the headset to end all headsets
for cheap

That's rightful criticism though. The VR missions were supposed to be a 15 mission separate campaign that was going to be exclusive to PSVR. Then cut down more and more until 3 were left.

I'd rather watch it in 2D at higher resolution but some of the scenes with Olivia Thirlby close up were fantastic.

Attached: PowerDVD9 2013-01-25 23-23-50-63.jpg (1680x952, 156K)

I hear you but the 3D effects are pretty great in it. Like the effect when Allison's uses her powers.

>WMRs are being phased out
but what do i do when my controllers break?

Wait for the inevitable PSVR Model 3 or whatever Microsoft is going to put out.

PSVR has a hidden feature where, if you pop a 3D DVD into the PS4 and watch it using PSVR cinematic mode, any 3D elements are rendered in VR space. This isn't advertised anywhere.

Attached: Possible-New-PS-VR-Controller-Patents.jpg (4000x1937, 615K)

I have a WMR, and the tracking isn't "really bad". It is worse than outside in cameras though.

The L-aura of Wet Blanke-ts e-nters the thread.

Inste-ad of par-ticipating in thre-ad discus-sion, this Lau-ra just want-s to po-int out that you-'re current-ly at the edge of the bo-ard and a-bout to die. =^_-^=

...

i got an index
and then i saw that all the games that i would want to buy do go on sale at some point so i've just been flying around in google earth

How's the finger tracking? I notice people can't spread fingers in it.

there's a strap that holds your hands in the controller when you open your fingers
it seems to work fine, though then again the only thing i've used it in is the the default tutorial program

I guess i mean they only track fingers opening and closing but can't read if they're together or spread out. Like for V signs or the 'live long and prosper' gesture.

Attached: palm-spread-fingers-female-hand-103609448[1].jpg (1300x982, 58K)

oh
i can't say i've tried that so i don't know

rift s a good start? what about gpu? I know I'd probably need to update from my 1060 (6GB)

bought a rift 2 years ago when they first dropped price and had a 1060 6gb, didn't have many issues at all
upgraded to a 1070ti shortly after, though

>pays $3K for Index and capable PC
>games are too expensive

games go on sale all the time, i doubt the vr equipment does
my pc is the same pc i use
it's only like a month until the halloween sale and i just got pavlov on sale so it's not waiting is gonna kill me

Blade and Sorcery
GORN
Dead Space 2 VR

>Summer Lesson
fig

Well, Halloween is more than a month away, closer to 2 months. Let's do the math:

$2000 PC
Lasts 5 years
12 years in a month
60 month lifespan
$2000 per 60 months
$33 per month

You're losing $66 in value while you're playing sub par games. Will you save this much by waiting for a sale?

Attached: 20190218191320-GettyImages-941729686[1].jpg (700x350, 31K)

games are games, if i'm having fun what difference does it make
once i'm done with what i'm currently playing then other vr games will go on sale

store.steampowered.com/app/555160/Pavlov_VR/

pavlov is 6 bux atm.

that graph really gets the noggin joggin

Anyone with a IPD of 60 with a Rift S?
