p.s. did anyone get the do-everything-in-one-go 'acheivement' for the flying levels? I know that's what's gonna prevent me from 100%ing the first game, but it seems like it'd be beyond frustrating to try to do (would probably take 1000 retries each)

Well the only reason for the remake is:
Graphics: Atmosphere is different everywhere. It just feels off, and the colors are different. The artstyle is the same bland blocky artstyle every other cheap game has nowadays. Sure there's more detail and everything's higher resolution, but to say it looks 100% better than the original would be wrong.
Framerate: The higher the framerate goes the more physics gets fucked up. Trying to 100% Tree Tops at 120+fps is nearly impossible. Plus there's just dumb bugs like things not working unless it's locked to 30fps.
So it's quite disappointing. For first timers you should definitely play the originals, and for nostalgiafags looking to replay the games it's pretty hit and miss.
