This is the problem I have with Terry. His moveset is fucking BORING. I don't wanna play as Terry. Sans being in at all is also awesome, and it's not only a good fit, and great that we get the music, it's probably the best Mii Costume in the game because it nails his look perfectly unlike most Mii costumes.

Unlike Terry, Reimu is actually a beloved character from a fan favorite series that rose in popularity purely on the merits of the creator's passion project. Similar to Sans. When I was a kid, I remember I used to play random games on MAME when I came home after a whole day at the beach during summer. One of the games I remember the most was some Fatal Fury or KoF title, can't tell which one specifically. But I do remember Rugal and Terry being the characters that stood out for me the most. The latter for both his colorful, 90s look and his voice lines for each special attack.

I thought he was a pretty iconic and memorable character for those aspects alone, despite having no knowledge as to what the outside world thought, that thought never even entered my mind. I was never even that much of a fan for fighting games in general (I used to only mash buttons to execute cool attacks in every game I've put my hands on until I finally learned how to play them properly very recently), but I've always respected the essence and history of this genre.

Looking at this thread now, it's almost disheartening people having such a visceral reaction against something that is innocuous at best, but what should be considered a celebration of gaming history. The fighting genre and the games within that sphere are also part of that history. But people seem to think because something doesn't get millions of views on Youtube, it's not even worth acknowledging.

This is really the worst part, and why I think Yea Forums is so fucking garbage to discuss vidya; it goes beyond GG, the 2016 elections, being underage, or post-ironic humor. Notice how there are way more comments of people unironically speaking about XYZ being more or less deserving because of its popularity (let alone twitter of all places), and what would make more money, or "if it's something I do not recognize, then it's shit" over... whether the character looks cool or not.
The real problem is in our current era, this new form of communication that is the internet (especially social media) is turning people into dipshit narcissists and making them obsess over popularity contests.
