Xenoblade cut content sure, but I highly doubt they did it so that they could jew people out of money on a runaway hit console almost 10 years down the line.

Persona has never dominated anything. Outside of Yea Forums nobody ever talks about it.
Xenoblade is huge now due to two sequels and XB2 having been the first proper JRPG on a smash hit console by Nintendo.

This is the first time a lot of those people will experience the game that is still the highest rated in the franchise and a JPRG fan favorite.
It wins by default.

And then Xenoblade will win again when X2 or X Remaster is annoucned.

Not really, there are just a few no life shitposters on Yea Forums that make it seem that way. The majority of people who play the series were befuddled by X but did not hate it. The majority of people who played 2 enjoyed it. People who scream about how 2 ruined 1 are either smash secondaries or people who never played either game.

The only difference is that Atlus has been doing this shit since Persona 3.

They're borderline no different than Gamefreak when it comes to this, truthfully. I doubt Monolith Soft even had plans to remake XC1 until the director planned to make an overly connected series by making connections to XC2 in preparation for XC3. At the end of the day though, they're both enhanced editions, so whatever.

Persona 5 is going to sell more because it is far more established in the mainstream. Xenoblade is still relatively niche. Xenoblade has the potential to be a break out hit, but that really all depends on Nintendo's marketing at this point. Xenoblade is the better game though, with the better story and better voice acting and better world, lore, exploration, characters, ect.

Sales on this and "success" really will boil down to mainstream appeal and marketing.
