Because they used special mo-cap for this one game and then never used it again.

Because that was its gimmick.

Extremely expensive gimmick.

Rockstar used to have talent.
And then the management pissed it away with crunch, nepotism, and mandatory Hollywood satanic rituals

hehehe... le doubt...

hahehehaehehe LE DOUBT

LE DOUBT FAEC

AHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

yeah.. really good animation

Zoomer

>Rockstar used to have talent.
You mean Team Bondi.

exaggerated doesn't mean bad
this one is from either third or fourth case, they had to make few first characters over the top to make natural difficulty curve,
it is a game after all

Because the facial animations were directly part of the gameplay mechanics.

>there will be no more GTA game sets in 1920s/1930s
FUCK. I JUST WANT TO SHOOT MY TOMMY GUN ON RIVAL GANGSTERS.

Nope, look it up. Bondi's lead was a cunt who screamed away employees like popcorn and Rockstar had to send down their own producers to seize control.

It's literally the exact same technology Half Life 2 had years prior. The difference is only in source for the animations. Valve developed procedural software to do theirs, Rockstar just videotaped actors' faces. I'm far more impressed with what Valve achieved than what Rockstar did.

Just play Mafia.

But it's old :^(

Because who fucking cares? Dark Souls didn't even try moving the lips of their NPCs and it is one of the best RPGs of all time.

>some guy is talking normal
>his face freaks teh fuck out and he looks like hed be screaming in agony or having a simultaneous seizure and stroke
>say he's lying
>im correct
dude needs a better poker face

>complain about a game being old
>while gushing over using old equipment in a game
oh (you)

Best facial animations coming through

>Best
That old man who never opened his fucking eyes says otherwise. Joes aside though, it really had good facial animations. That should be the minimum for games after it happened.

that sounds like two vastly different technologies to me

Because the game was short as fuck, barely let you do anything, and took a trillion years to develop. They probably spent an obscene amount of amount and effort creating those animations, but it’s not realistic for most games now so it’s worthless.

Totally holds up, though.

It's from a DLC case. You had to pay extra to get that kind of quality.

Well, you'd be wrong. Both companies were eschewing the traditional skeleton based animation in favor of a direct mesh deformation system. Mocaping actors faces is not amazing new tech. There's nothing impressive about that LA Noire doing that. What was interesting was, unlike everyone else except for Valve, they weren't animating their faces with bones.

that's an incredibly retarded argument

Whore of the Orient never ever

Is it bad that I recognize this meme image more than the actual box art?

True. I just want to taste non-World War firearms in that era.

Yakuza 0 has better

The alternative
>ask little girl what happened
>she has no idea
>believe her, she looks genuine
>is full of shit and lying through her teeth
>restart case
>doubt everything instead - still get it wrong
>restart case - look at guide
>turns out you need present some evidence
Having to use evidence to prove someone wrong was really hard. Some cases will be obvious like "aha, unless you can produce my dirty size 8 work boot, you have nothing", most are really hard. I've played that case on patrol where the anti-semite gets shot loads of times and never once thought to use the bill of sale in the dead guy's pocket when interviewing the witness.
