Konami said recently they are going to revive some old ips.
they are unironically getting better, the next 5 years will be better, not like the good old days, but still better.
Thankfully you can almost 100% recreate Goemon with the mii editor, the one used in the direct isn't even the best one.

You don't know that. Sakurai does surprising shit sometimes, and the mii outfit is a sign Goemon has crossed his mind or is requested enough. And Snake probably won't be in the next Smash, so who knows

I'm trying to stay positive about this, and I'm happy for any possible Goemon representation, but it still really irks me that he's not a full-fledged new character in this game. My emotions are really mixed about this whole thing - absolute joy and utter defeat at the same time.
I don't think I'll ever stop wanting Goemon to be a fighter in Smash, not until it happens. I cannot rest until Goemon gets the representation he truly deserves. A stage, Assist Trophies, a shit-ton of music, the whole shebang.

He never had much of a chance as a newcomer. Getting the costume is incredible and can help gain awareness. Plus, you can make a surprisingly decent mii.
