It really shouldn't be too hard to recover, if they didn't already ruin their reputation long ago. SF and Tekken get away with having bikinis and lewd costumes so next time just don't act like idiots over that. I think the sillier story mode of DoA6 actually works, but is too low effort to be funny so it comes off as cringey instead. Then they have to figure out these launch issues like no lobbies and a bad costume unlock system. DoA6 already has some good gameplay, good tutorials, decent combo challenges, and a few single player modes. The series just needs some effort put in which unfortunately costs money. But the actual biggest problem for the series is the marketing, and I don't know how you fix that. Despite what Yea Forumsirgins think, there aren't enough of us to offset the lost revenue from getting "normies" to buy it. Even if they were to go full woke, it wouldn't matter, DoA is known as the titty game and I think that'll always limit this series' sale potential. It's a fucking bummer, I liked DoA2 a lot back in the day and now it plays third fiddle to Tekken and SC.

Trying to pander to two diametrically opposed groups, EVO fags and jap waifu-fags, while also trying to appease sjw gaming journos who want nothing less than the death of this series, was pretty much an impossible task. Add to that them either shitting on or just completely disregarding the older fanbase and what you have left is a game they tried to sell to everyone but ended up satisfying no one. Ridiculous stipulations coming down from KT ordering the scrapping of the Soft Engine and rebuilding the whole thing from the ground up on the DW9 engine, all on an absurdly short development timeline almost made it seem like KT wanted it to fail so they can have an excuse to kill the fighter line and just run on the gacha from now on.

All fighting game series are doomed to become shadows of their former selves and sell fewer and fewer copies than the legendary entries of the past. If there's one genre that online gaming fucked up more than any other, its fighters.$40 for an update disc with new characters/stages/music/story/modes/balance and a fucking retail release for both megafan collectors and casuals to have their eyeballs on was a far, far more successful and value-filled thing than $30 for a few new characters and fuck all. Stop catering to the damn tourney crowd. That isn't where the big bucks and big sales came from. Ever.

I think what hurt DoA more than anything else was the series going Xbox exclusive during the 2000s. It was unable to establish a strong following during that era because of this.

Actually a good idea.
Bring back tag and all the extra modes as well as a large number of unlocks. I'll even take old costumes being redone in a new engine.
Drop the cinematic story where only a few people get attention and let everyone get their own time, like in old arcade fighters.
Refine their graphics as much as they can to somehow end up impressing people again, like they did with 3. Even 6 had some small but good improvements, like better textures (leather) and shaders (metal). They could squeeze in more detail wherever they can to show these off more as well. One good example was Kasumi's deluxe outfit. It still retained her ninja look while being impressively detailed. Imagine if that was her default, just to show off their technology, instead of the bodysuit.
They could give better physics to more pieces of clothing, like avoiding the umbrella-like effect like in

I first got into DoA with Dimensions and it remains my most played 3DS game to date. I won't say I'm hardcore into the series but I do like it as a fighter.

Yes there are DoA tournaments at most FGC events, they just aren't main stage. NLBC for example runs DoA. And while people do make some money playing DoA, I don't think they get sponsored and such so I guess there actually might not be any "pro" DoA players.

For a series set in some magical ninja world it barely takes advantage of it sadly. I'd say between 2 and 3 it was going in that direction more but went full on with the clone thing in 4 and 5. Now it's just a bunch of lolis and Nyotengu. If anything I would even take Kanna over someone like Marie if they wanted a token loli fighter

There have been tournaments since 4, at least mainstream ones. They got a big push with Microsoft backing them and being part of the MLG scene.
5 was mostly done by fans, with the biggest annual DOA tournament being somewhere in America. KT has even done announcements there.
6 currently has it's own pro tour, though it's obviously smaller in scale compared to the other ones. Less events and money involved but still more than 5, which had nothing official.

I agree to some extent, but the fallacy is more appropriate to real world applications where odds aren't determined by a global seed or some shit. Videogames are different, specially gachas, because a big majority do have pity drops and measures to not fuck over players so badly for extended periods of time to the point of quitting. This can of course be purposely programmed, which defeats the purpose of the fallacy.
Now, I'm not saying Benis Vacation is one such game, all we know for sure is about the bulk roll guarantee of an SR or better. Pity measures could perfectly well be coded in and are a secret to everyone so far, although that can't be known for sure either considering how jewish TK is. Well obviously some do since it sells to an extent but I've never met a single person who likes DOA as a fighter, not even saying it's bad but following 6 it was nothing but negativity. Hell most people forgot the game even released this year. I personally think team ninja or whoever should stop trying to cater to so many people and drop a focused game for once. I'm not big into the series but I think DOA2U for Xbox was the best example of that
