there are several characters i consider "bad picks" for smash and terry wasn't one of them. he's just someone i didn't want. i didn't have anyone i strongly wanted either so it's hard to get disappointed with smash picks anymore as much as it is hoping the worst possible choice doesn't get in. Never played the games outside of one of the Capcom vs. SNK ones in the arcade but I really like more obscure but beloved game publishers getting this much exposure.

All these legendary Japanese companies that helped build this industry right alongside Nintendo, they tend to get left in the dust and people don't know who they are anymore since they can't compete with modern calladoody shit. It's great that Smash has been basically acting like a lifetime achievement award to put these guys back on top if only for just a moment.

A bit boring. Geese in Tekken 7 was a huge deal because Geese is more of an interesting character, and hasn't been featured in anything for ages. He was the perfect fit for the series. Terry is sort of the face of SNK and Fatal Fury/King of Fighters. Sorta kinda.

The Metal Slug cast would have been way more interesting. Like Hero they could have been one character, but 4 models. Maybe too much violence though?

Never played his series, but I like how smash is becoming such a universal fighting game. I think getting heihachi would be pretty sick, personally.

Play Fatal Fury 1, it's simple as hell and only takes around 15 minutes to play until you get to Geese and spend an hour trying to beat him only to ragequit at the end.

Banjo's legitimately kinda boring, between Grooves and other SNK-specific systems I think Terry's got a huge amount of potential. He's an aggressive rushdown character in his own games, too, Smash doesn't usually get characters able to keep up the pressure unless they're speedy as hell and able to do tons of mid-light tap hits like the archetypal Fox.

Yes, he's the first. The funny thing is that the game is a breeze until you get to him and he parries everything you throw him. Don't feel bad if you can't beat him, the dude is designed to steal quarters out of people at arcades.

I haven't played the King of Fighters or Fatal Fury series, but I read on the history of the games and the information and powers of Terry years ago and watched the Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture (kickass movie). I found him to be pretty badass and was hyped when he got in Smash. I like his style.

I'm pretty hype. I would have preferred a Metal Slug rep from SNK, but that series is deader than dead so I never really had any hope for them.
But I like KoF and I think the Shotos in Smash are fun, so I'm interested in seeing how he plays.

Terry is my favorite lead character in any fighting game, he oozes charisma and has a unique look without being overdesigned. I honestly think that the people that are really salty right now will learn to love him as we learn more and eventually get to play him.
Plus if Rising Tackle is a charge move, we get a whole new era of smash players not understanding real fighting game inputs

The majority of the Fighter's Pass being realistic proportion anime characters is kind of boring, and I feel like the niche of a fighting game character was already filled by Ryu. Marco would've represented the arcade run n gun which we don't have, and he's short and weird looking.
