They’ve avoided all of the iconic third party characters from Japan or America and instead opted for literal who marketing shills. All base roster newcomers should be first parties from franchises with new games, in need of more reps or without a Smash rep (Advance Wars, Pokemon, Rune Factory, Fatal Frame, Wario, Zelda, Xenoblade, Custom Robo, Sin/Punishment, Donkey Kong, Kirby). All third parties should be voted in by Official Smash Ballots as Paid DLC to insure fans get the characters they actually want

Smash Bros is the ultimate celebration of video games and their history. To have a character even acknowledged in Smash Bros is an honour and should be seen as a way to learn about more videogames. That KoF smash trailer may not mean a thing to you but the references so meticulously crafted into mean the world to the KoF fans and FGC as a whole.
