Games like this were called Eurojank for a reason. Still a important game in CDPR's development history. Especially when the original author had no faith in its success.

It's the only combat system in the 3 games that rewards you for preparations made before the fight. Like how a witcher is supposed to work. The others are just down potions like a junkie in the middle of the fight and the effects wear off in 30 seconds.
