How much have you ever spent on a videogame/video-game related product?
How much have you ever spent on a videogame/video-game related product?
Star Citizen is weird to me. Are people just buying ships in a game that isn't even close to complete yet? Why are there like 3 different Star Citizen campaigns to buy?
i-it's a investment!
It's a cult. Wealthy but lonely middle-aged men that want to be part of "the next big thing"
The scope of the game expanded far beyond what anyone anticipated
Likely scenario is The Studio will license and sell SC's engine for their own space-faring games that will actually be good.
Some people view the ships like some kind of investment. They speculate these ships stay limited and raise in value.
But most people are just stupid.
Only people like themselves would pay such outrageous prices for ships and they're the ones stocking up. It's going to be such a shit show for them, can't wait.
220€ overall on DQXI.
>100€ for the jap version + shipping.
>60€ for the localized version.
>60 for the Switch version.
>So what's your point? lol
my god, the defensiveness is palpable.
I finally saw a stream of the game and it looks playable and huge but there’s just nothing to do and the amount of players on a server is hilariously low
10 years of World of Warcraft probably stacks up to quite a bit.
>imagine being this much of a paypiggu
ITT: retards who don't know anything about video games development.
That's kind of illegal considering they're using crytek, for some ungodly reason.
T.starscam paypig
As usual.
post >yfw you didn't fall for scam citizen meme
When the kickstarter started, there were thought to be thousands of planets. Now there is one planet.
60 dollars. HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>Likely scenario is The Studio will license and sell SC's engine
They don't even own that lol, it's a heavily modified CryEngine.
What engine? It's an unfinished cryengine modification of a modification.
isn't it Lumberyard now?
>Dev starts making game
>Dev finishes game
>I pay for game
>Everyone is happy
It's not that hard, people have been doing it for 50 years
The swapping stage 2 and 3 rarely end up with stage 4
new sunk cost galaxy fucking WHEN
So Star Citizen is actually a massive money laundering scheme, right?
play starsector
>ungodly reason
The reason is marketing. Crysis is still considered a graphics giant and advertising your game as "made with Cryengine" attracts gullible normies.
It's still a fork of Cry engine but with support for "massive" multiplayer, they don't own that too
I bought fallout 4 pip boy edition for $300.
Then regretted my decision and sold it to a friend for the same price.
>A FUCKING TOTAL SPENT COUNTER
you literally cannot make shit up
You've never played anything within this scope and graphical fidelity. There's nothing to compare it to because no other game has tried to be this big while looking this good. The granularity is incomparable, and games of similar budgets won't offer the same experience, or even a comparable one. The only one being left behind here is you and the other idiots mouthing off about things they don't understand.
retards are convinced it will be the next EVE, but it's not
wow, including 1 year+ subscription. no idea how much that was in total.
Lumberyard is cryengine. Also potentially will be abandoned by Amazon
Woah guys, the game's director is here
For in-game stuff, 10$ in tf2. The most expensive game I ever bought was 30$.
What I wanna see is Star Citizen finally gets released so Yea Forumsirgins form up into hunter killer fleets to blow the fuck out of these ships paypigs spents thousands on
the salt would be delicious
I played WoW for many years. It costed my soul.
You know you could carry out the 3 multiplication steps to calculate the cost.
15*12*10 = $1800.
If something has held your attention for 10 fucking years than I don't think $1800 is all that much
I think that comment refers to the fact that the engine is completely unsuitable for this type of endeavour. Or at least this studio can't work it into a space game to save their lives.
There is obviously "Rich people insurance™", you wouldn't allow for fun thing like in Eve to happen
No man's game and elite fail both do what scam citizen cant do.
OK serious question, is there a list how much have the top backers spent?
I mean the guy on 54k on that twitter isnt probably on the top ten.
>You've never played anything within this scope and graphical fidelity.
nobody will
By that time we will be able to actually form hunter killer fleets with real world spaceships so why bother.
In your case, i would start looking into ways of prolonging your life, if you ever want to play the game, backer.
>only 56000$
Embarrassing.
No but overall they're above 300 million, on top of investments.
You have to add the expansions and original game cost too.
user it's not too late, you can still get out of it.
Get help from your friends and family, ask for a refund and leave this chapter of your life behind. Life is still wonderful, stop this delusion, you can do it.
They're buying a jpg of the ship
I am not joking. On their account their """""""Ship"""""""" gets delivered as a jpg image so they can avoid any kind of lawsuit once this flop shits the fan
Camp someone enough and that insurance becomes a liability
Oh no, user. That's 60 dollars for the most basic shit that you will do nothing with agaisnt P2W players that paid for better ships.
Obviously, hypothetically, because the game is never coming out.
How do you get into EVE actually?
It looks interesting and really scary.
Release?
I don't know why I expected any less
the next best things are:
development is officially announced to be stopping or the game officially releases so late that nobody cares and the ships are practically worthless
either way the twitter meltdowns will provide enough content to fuel threads here for weeks. I am expecting at least 5 suicides.
Daily reminder than Star citizen is 27% complete after 8 years ot development
>Warframe gave beta testers Excalibur Prime for free, a frame so rare people nowadays will pay you thousands irl for your account
>Star Citizen requires you to spend tens of thousands of irl money and you can't even play the game.
T-thanks?
Of the many things scam citizen cant do, like make a working flight model.
There are technically 2 million beta testers. If they all got something it wouldn't be rare no matter what.
nice pasta
I was expecting to be in a reality where I see Star Citizen get released before Bannerlord
I have never been so happy to be wrong
>27%
Just post the pic with them moving the goals into further and further.
Everything appears to be smooth sailing from here on. You people clearly have no concept of development.
money,a lot of time spent in-game, learning current economy through forums, and channels(yes this matters so much;it's constantly changing),subversion, and espionage IRL(loot, and hauls can be worth hundreds, thousands, and even hundreds of thousands of dollars), and legit building bulletproof guilds. it's a massive fucking panic attack of a game, and unless you were around for the beginning I would not rec it user. I had the same idea YEARS ago, and said fuck this.
WF's beta in 2013-early 2014 had about 500k IIRC.
Imagine bragging on the internet about spending 50 fucking grand on a garbage video game.
Star Citizen is the sunk cost fallacy playing out IRL. Nobody wants to admit that they've basically been throwing their money into a hole, everyone just stays in their hugboxes and ignores most criticism
Also YOU never made a video game, it's hard man! Geez!
I bought WoW in 2007 with a 2-mont game card. That's it.
They didn't give them out for free. You had to buy a supporter pack that included excalibur prime.
>Some people view the ships like some kind of investment.
Little did we know that one day star citizen would become another second life tier game in which you can make a living.
We laughed at people putting mortgages on the line but they laughed last in the end.
cringe
okay even so, accs still worth thousands now + it's a lot cheaper than 50,000 dollars for a ship.
It's a conceptual game so it can be whatever the backers can imagine as long as it never comes out.
There was a period of time where, if you asked "is X in star citizen" on twitter, chris roberts would have confirmed just about anything.
For example if you asked if you can breed koi carps in your private japanese garden while procedurally generated birds fly overhead, he would have just straight up said yes and added it to the roadmap.
He still does that. Expect to see cyberpunk elements in Star citizen after it releases
he's an evil genius of separating mentally ill goys from their money
Am i going to see Rosa in every thread now that the game is offcialy out.
I remember a few years ago when I was getting into Starbound some friends of mine were telling me about this. I'm honestly afraid to ask how much they spent, I know at least a couple preordered it.
>Reaction image
Probably.
She's really good reaction image material so probably
Im shocked there are people who don't see how full of shit he is. Even if the game came out best case, how the fuck are you going to have the player count to sustain both planetbased and ship internal gameplay? Shit could have been a really cool MMO if they limited the scope to things that are actually relevant, hell just make it one of those trade simulators but in space and massively multiplayer. That's already a huge ask but it's something possible and something you might have the player base for, as opposed to trying to sell a game that's YOU CAN DO ANYTHING
Probably about $500 dollars on FFXIV because of subscription and buying a couple level skips for a couple of side jobs.
It's basically a ponzie scheme. People need to buy more ships that aren't even in development in order for the devs to be able to keep working on the stuff that they promissed to the previous people who bought in.
Only in a real ponzie scheme the goal is for a few people to get really rich, while here it's more about an entire studio staying employed indefinetly.
My point is, i would rather Hilda.
I'd rather you not be gay!
what salt
your ships don't magically disappear from your account if they blow up
Why is he acting proud of that
Cultist
These people are going to be suicidal when the game fails
Pure, unadulterated cope.
