Snoy buttfucked them in the early days when they told japs that 2D was ruining the glorious image of the PS1's awesome 3D graphics, so they started cockblocking their releases.
That probably scared the shit out of them when PS2 came, so they went "why even bother" and that's probably one of the major reasons Symphonia was on GC.
