As someone who actually played the game when it launched in jap, I think there's a fair argument against some of the new content. While a good chink of it feels natural and like it was always there, other parts are pretty apparently thrown in and feel out of place. Overall I think some of it would've been better suited for a sequel with different characters than thrown into Vincent's story.

Just finished it and holy shit I don't remember the writing being this awful. Maybe it's a cultural thing or maybe the translation sucks but holy shit. There are so many cases lines of dialogue are complete non sequiturs. Same goes for some of the questions. Some of them were so fucking bizarre I considered they might have fucked up and put the answers to another question. I also deeply regret spending so much money for a game I've played years ago. All that said I still love the game.

If any of the people involved the drama of the story were actually able to form a coherent nonambiguous sentence there would be no drama and shit would have gotten resolved on day 1.
