Combat was basic and uninteresting like all these indie metroidvania games. They did a good job but the game is ultimately boring.

Made a game they wanted and focused on that, no other motive like politics. They also seemed to try to keep it original in terms of artstyle so it was more interesting and not like another vania/metroid/retro game and instead its own thing.

No idea, they were busy doing whatever for S&S and being married, as far as I know.

Most games that aspire to be Metroidvania's end up as basic bitch platformers because the studio lack the vision, ideals or manpower needed to go further than a basic bitch platformer with some concept of a open map.
I.e map is not actually open
I.e powerups do not increase movement ability in some form
I.e no real power up
I.e a lot of backtracking to pad time, but very little is done to make it a new experience

I guess its also the difference between Zelda inspired games, and actual Zelda games.

Someone on Yea Forums said it once in a thread somewhere and i'm super buttmad about it cause HK is literally the epitome of perfect and anyone slightly criticizing this absolute masterpiece is a degenerate piece of shit and should be crucified in the public square for blaspheming against God's most perfect creation.
