I recently played DOOM after hearing mostly praise about it ever since release and I thought it was boring as fuck. The visuals and sound effects combine to make your weapons all feel weak as shit, the rocket launcher in particular, especially with its tiny blast radius. I constantly got stuck on shit in the environment in the hell levels for no apparent reason other than object boundaries being poorly defined. Most importantly though is that the glory kills are a terrible mechanic that are ostensibly intended to keep the game feeling fast-paced by providing you with health and ammo for killing enemies, but in practice are annoying as fuck and slow everything down because every enemy has an inflated HP pool so they're designed to be left in a stun state by most attacks rather than being killed outright, and you then have to either waste more ammo to kill them with a gun or watch the same shitty glory kill for the millionth time. And that shit hurts the rocket launcher even further when you shoot it into a group of zombies and blow them up and only one actually gibs and the rest just stand there stunned instead.

The rune to make enemies stagger more is the third-last one and would only make all of those complaints even worse if I used the thing. Sadly there is no rune to eliminate glory kills while there are several other runes to make the benefits of glory kills more significant.

There are multiple control defaults and you can change bindings on PS4 and PC. Movement is left stick, dashing is left bumpers, and shooting is right stick, so I'm not sure what you mean.

Thing is, the vast majority of 80s and 90s shows were just monster/crime/shenanigans of the week stuff, which may be entertaining but fails to reach any higher levels of content. There were some exceptions like Twin Peaks, but in general, TV shows of that era lacked any true ambition.

But in turn of millenia, we started getting stuff like Sopranos and The Wire that completely revolutionized the idea of TV shows. Now they weren’t just some silly non-sequential filler addled fluff that second-rate actors went to do when they couldn’t get movie roles, but people realized that the format can be used to tell longer, continuous stories that allow for you to give more depth to the characters, more room for human interaction and emotion. Obviously, it doesn’t mean that every TV series is good now, but the medium has evolved so fucking much that I seriously can’t believe that someone would unironically prefer 80’s TV to that. It’s a perfect example of how a medium can mature through several ambitious examples that expand the idea of what the medium is capable of.

Remember to give some credit to Babylon 5, it was the first series that tried to tell a proper long story with foreshadowing and long plot arcs. Wasn’t quite 10/10 due to having some horrible actor choices and several weaker sub-plots, but it’s still a sorely underrated show.
