Oh shit I've been spotted!
take this!
TAFFER
Reminder: The Dark Mod exists, is free, under active development, has a ton of high quality FMs, and is true to the spirit of Thief.
I consider it a more legitimate successor to the Thief games than 2014 nuThief.
damn that looks nice
any good FMs you recommend?
The introductory mission that comes with the base download iirc, The Tears of Saint Lucia, is very high quality.
I also enjoyed many of the missions from the Thomas Porter series by Sotha, he plays with some lovecraftian themes that are a lot of fun to encounter.
I haven't played as many missions as I should, I'm planning to get back into it one of these days
Man, I hate building spiral staircases.
can you copy architecture from one instance of DromEd to another? that's what I would do with TrenchBroom
I think the mission I had the most fun with was The Beleaguered Fence from the Sotha series I mentioned, it hits a lot of great Thief-y points. Extremely comfy as well.
Is there an easy way to see what maps are popular/highly rated for it?
Not as far as I know, but here's a forum topic where people post their top FMs. forums.thedarkmod.com
Pretty much anything people list in that thread is probably quite good.
You can save and load multibrushes. I just have trouble trying to fit it in the mansion somewhere.
>Shit, how did I end up with one extra dromed unit?
>Fuck, now I have to move a lot of brushes.
>Damn, is it getting too big?
Are original Thief/Thief2 FMs still a thing? I know the community got a new lease on life when the source code was leaked, but I haven't checked in for a few years.
yes, people still do them
still going, its even got some new people in with the 20th anniversary contests
If you steal something you get your ass kicked
*telesneaks behind you with the blackjack*
Okay Corvo
I still cant even the new one
>thief exists for shadow and sound system
>make a game with binary shadows and shit sound
Say what you will about the models, but the environmental design is still top-notch.
It really is. I genuinely miss early 00s/late 90s 3d design. I feel it really peaked in Quake3 engine games and stopped with HL2.
I think it's mostly how they worked with the shadows, they really played to the engine's strengths there.
1. Does anyone have an automatic sensor light at their home? What is a good 'click' sound for that?
2. I want to include a breaker box in my mission that shuts off all the electric lights in the mansion and renders all levers useless. What FMs do this?
Thief has really great textures, the only issue is that they are low-res as fuck.
Someone should try to resize them with some meme AI, like dude did with morrowind.
thief gold was the shit, I love the lost city level
Thanks pretty interesting.
Oh shit
How many Mechanists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
imo they look pretty nice when texture filtering is turned off
Comfy af
This used to be my favorite series as a kid, got the Dark Project on a demo disk and played it endlessly. The thread yesterday made me reinstall the series, but can someone post a good control scheme for modern PC's?
WASD to move and mouse to look around lel
This is so much fucking better than it has any right to be, I haven't touched it in years though so I think it's about time I had another play with it.
Threadly reminder that there will never, ever be a Thief 2 Gold
Published FM or?
Nope, it's from the cragscleft mission
This has terrible sound design.
Oh, shame on me.
This is a correct opinion
I find that texture filtering off works better in Thief 1
Metal Age has more detailed props and architecture and it kinda clashes with unfiltered textures
WASD plus QE for leaning, and X for forward leaning
Mouse 3 for slow sneaking, shift for running
This looks pretty amazing.
>I consider it a more legitimate successor to the Thief games than 2014 nuThief.
That's a low fucking bar, tells me nothing.
I hope someone implements ray tracing with Thief or gives it another try after we get more hardware that is capable of doing it.
Movement felt sluggish last time I played it. Same with TMA and TDS.
>id-tech 4 mod
>not a remake of Thief: Deadly Shadows' levels in the Dark Engine without the shitty loading screens and small size

Newer version
How many?
Fucking finally, we can pretend the HD Texture Mod never existed.
What's the best Thief to play for a first timer?
the first one
Thief Gold (The Dark Project)
2. This is for TDM, but in William Steele 5 there's one.
I meant to say I am making something for Thief GOLD.
