Sometimes it's nice to make and play a cute/cool girl, same as making a cute/cool guy.

I made a female gnome in classic, they aren't attractive like goblin shortstacks in retail, and there's no ass to oogle, it's just fun looking like a tiny badass.

I choose my characters gender based on whether the male model looks more badass than the female is hot. I wouldn't play a female orc or tauren in WoW, but blood elves and Alliance races (minus dwarves and worgen) would all be female
