It's just a minor form of OCD. The same thing happens with achievements, one of the biggest cancers in gaming. Developers and corporations prey off of your weaknesses and compulsions so you're more inclined to play their shitty games longer or indulge in microtransactions.
With a healthy diet you can usually stop these "forced" thoughts you're having. That and a little will power, you should be ok. Nowadays I ignore achievements, grinding for skins, and dumbass optional objections or "checklists" in games. They're a waste of time and not worth it.

don't get too excitded though, the only "unlocks" you get are 1000 to 3000 CC per level up and a shitty dog tag at the lvl 99 finish line.
