That's NIS, not NISA.
Nothing. They keep getting localization contracts for third party jap vidya.

They're still localizing NIS games and have multiple things going on. Personally I'm looking forward to Disgaea 4 Complete+ at the end of next month.

NIS had series of poor performers coupled with few titles that had troubled developement.
NISA on other hand keeps doing decently, working as localizer that hires people straight out of college. That is, they keep making profit, they're not actually producing good work. Their translations are notoriously fucking terrible.

NISA is fine, and in fact might even be doing better than it's parent company.

NIS however, is on the verge of death. They haven't had a hit in years; most of their current games have middling sales and even their strongest IP, Disgaea, struggles to do well. They also had a significant brain drain, and talent isn't easily replaced. That's why they've been putting out so many cheap/short horror games, to see if they strike it rich with one, but even that's not working. They were on the verge of bankruptcy before Switch sales propped them up, so they've used that capital to invest in gacha and cheaper games. Still (despite whatever Yea Forums might say) gacha is not free money, and the Disgaea mobile launch was an unmitigated disaster. If it had done poorly it might have at least been a steady source of income or at least a return on investment, but the game was unplayable for about 3 weeks (and gems unpurchasable) before finally being taken down indefinitely. Last I saw, the gacha is relaunching soon/has relaunched? but they've lost an irreplaceable amount of interest and goodwill. If their other games start getting cancelled/closed soon, then that's probably it for them.

Holy shit, its sad to see that NIS goes that way, im just even beginned to play Disgaea.

>their translations are terrible
This, if they are serious instead of doggy baby cringy bullshit then they are decent at best.

Got populated by a bunch of fuckheads who bend over for neogaf/resetera and S.A., so in addition to extremely shitty handling of the source code they also fuck up the localization as bad as 4kids used to do to anime that wasn't Nintendo owned.
If you wonder why they somehow still keep getting rights to games it's because A) they do it for so cheap that even a bad localization effort (ie every one) still nets a huge profit and B) NIS is respected among other Japanese companies so when someone like Falcom or an indie jap sets things up they only interact with NIS and think everything is all hunkydory, and thus remain oblivious to the shit NISA ends up pulling.
