sometimes a crab is just a crab
Snib Snab
This. Some things hold no further meaning than what is in front of you.
Wrong! There MUST be SOMETHING to it...!
go home old man you're drunk
But his AI is different from every other crab in the game, SURELY he does something!
Exactly, he made the ball of bones because theres some beetles who make a ball of shit much bigger than they are. There are crabs on the outside of the place. There's nothing else to it.
to unlock the secret of the crab:
>need to beat all bosses, but leave soul of cinder alive
>talk to firekeeper, this will set a flag for next step no matter what she says
>visit the velka statue
>sleep under giant tree outside firelink shrine
>talk to andre
>start up dark souls 1 and enter the waterfall in kalameet's arena for 10 seconds, quit game
>load up dark souls 3 again
>you will obtain a key. take this to irithyll, outside the yorshka bonfire there is a building with a door, find it and open it with key, you will find an npc in there that rambles on about stuff, then laughs at you
>now go to dark firelinkshrine and talk to the shrine handmaid, who will also laugh at you
>now, go to the place you fight Iudex gundyr and enter the massive tomb on side of arena
>you will appear in area similar to demon ruins lava pits, but its a massive maze
>after you navigate it you will find the crab, which will follow you
>bring it back to the entrance and you will get a special ending

same approach to the crab as there is to the entire DS lore:
make it random and stange, and people will think there is something fascinating to find.
it is literally a basic trick from pen and paper RPGs.
your players try to make sense of that which does not do so initially, and end up writing the story for you.
Derete this right fuckingu now, gaijin. No one reak secrets from my geimu, prayers must find for themserves.
has anyone who worked on DS3 commented on the crab?
>huh. it's a crab...
>but circling around?
What if the Pendant and the Crab are related?
and the ds2 pig was just a pig until someone led it across the map
I don't remember either of these
What were they
Make sekiro dlc you chump
what happened when you led it across the map...?
you lead the pig to some mushrooms where it digs and reveals a pickaxe or something
What if you have to aggro the crab and get it follow you to another location like the Pig in ds2. Nobody ever discovered that easter egg until a developer leaked it
Free gibs, what else in era of zoomers.
It digs up the Pickaxe weapon for you.
The crabs appear at certain spots associated with the abyss? Vattividya covers in a lore video. There's nothing more to it.
AAAAAAAAAAA
One of the pigs at the beginning of Tseldora would never deaggro no matter how far away you got from it. Someone figured out that if you managed to get it to follow you all the way down to the bottom of Tseldora without it dying it will walk over to a certain patch of dirt and dig up a Pickaxe. This is the only way to get the Pickaxe in DS2.
People have been theorising and experimenting with the crab inside the skeleton ball in Dark Souls 3 for over 3 years now because it too has an unlimited aggro range and will follow you forever if you let it. Because it’s the only crab that does this like how it was only a specific pig that dug up the Puckaxe in 2, people are convinced that this crab is involved in a similar secret that has yet to be solved.
That’s what people have been trying to figure out for years, though nothing has worked yet.
In Dark Souls 2, there is a small pig that spawns (has a chance to spawn?) in a large area. It has no "home" and will aggro to you as far as you care to kite it. If you manage to drag it to an unassuming patch of mushrooms on the other side of the area--this takes a LONG time--then it will dig up the mushrooms and reward you with a unique weapon (the pickaxe). Nothing in the game tells you this--it's just an absurdly complicated easter egg for diehard players.
In Dark Souls 3, there is a tiny crab that spawns in the catacombs. Like the DS2 pig, it is the only enemy of its type in the game and can be aggroed anywhere, among other strange properties. But in spite of incredibly extensive testing, hacking, and datamining, nobody has found a use for the catacombs crab. Nobody knows if it's a legendary easter egg or FROM just fucking with us.
Vaati is a weepy voiced cuck
The crab has its own stats, different drops, yields unique amount of souls, and is disabled in the catacombs until a skeleton ball explodes.
It’s an Easter egg for sure, but what does it do? Fuck you Miyazaki, tell us you swine
does Limit browse Yea Forums?
Nothing has been found in 3 years? May be a lost cause
Lead it to Quelana’s corpse and drop the Blood of the Dark Soul there. He’ll eat it, then eat Quelana’s corpse and he’ll become a second Profaned Flame. Take it, and when you beat Soul of Cinder and go to Link the Fire or Usurp the Fire, the flaming crab will crawl out of your pocket and into the First Flame. You then get a secret ending where the Profaned Flame, a dark fire that can’t be put out, becomes the new world order instead of the Dark. The whole world begins to shake and it’s revealed that it all took place on the back of a giant crab, slumbering beneath the Ash Lake for an eternity.
Wait a minute.. that crab..
The Dark Souls 2 one wasn’t discovered until a dev leaked it, so who knows how long it may have taken to be discovered naturally? I agree though, 3 years is a long ass time but there’s still a lot to learn about the game. That guy who has been datamining Bloodborne for the past few years is STILL finding new shit constantly, just a few days ago he revealed that Willem was planned as a boss at first and partially restored his fight, so even though Dark Souls 3 is much easier to rip apart due to being on PC there could still be some minor secrets left to find.
This actually sounds plausible with how dumb DaS lore is.
>everyone ignores this post
>it ends up being true
his head's pretty big ain't it
Could just be that the rest of him is pretty small. I’d know all about that.
Dark Souls 3 dev here, I can confirm this is true. Congratulations! Now stop digging.

what a waste of a perfectly fine pussy
Except people have already exhausted pretty much everything
Yeah, I remember when everyone was 12 without internet, too.
Small crab right? Maybe we lead it too it's mother
Nice shoop but that's clearly water.
It's all right, she still drowned.
Nah, you can see her sitting down there like a dumbass.

Fake as fuck.
What was his name when these threads first started? I remember someone even made a theme for him that was some awful soul of cinder ear rape.
The main problem with crab theory is that it has been datamined to hell and back. The crab has no animations that could play during any sort of easter egg, there are no secret items that we're missing, etc.
There literally doesn't appear to be room in the game's code for the crab to do anything interesting.
It could use an existing animation for a potential secret, but I agree it doesn’t seem likely anymore.
It's going to go down in history as one of the biggest nothing's in gaming history but we won't be able to shut the crabfags up until the game's events have been decoded, which is never going to happen.
I haven't even thought about dark souls 3 since the last dlc, were there any interesting secrets or findings? I don't think there were any before the dlc
Crab is just the same thing as that lvl 3 guidance rune in Bloodborne. Just a meme and a massive waste of time.
Who?
isnt that reserved for the pendant in DS1
THE CRAB MANSON WHAT DOES IT DO user?
