I thought Yea Forums loved Castlevania, why do these threads die out so quickly?
Castlevania Thread
Because we've all played every single game to death and there isn't much left to discuss.
You want me to tell you that SOTN is good for the 100000000th time?
AoS is also good.
OoE is patrician.
This shit comes up over and over and over again for hundreds of threads, then you get the usual contrarians, we argue, then you also get the classicfags come in trying to start shit, the two factions do their usual war that is as old and as boring as Asuka vs Rei fags at this point, and the thread dies and we do it all over again the next time.
It's boring, stale.
The only difference is Shitstained turdlets walking in presenting their shitty little game trying to get accepted, and promptly being kicked out.
A minor distraction that doesn't offer enough to make these threads interesting to read again.
We need a new, ACTUAL new Castlevania title, for these threads to have any life pumped into them again.
Until then it's just gonna be the same shit on repeat.
That's pretty disappointing news, I'm a really new fan of the series so I wanted to talk about it
If you've tried it, what do you think of Bloodstained?
Yah I know that feel. Just got into AoS and I'm loving it.
Every fucking time with you cockroaches.
Haven't played that yet, I tend to save the latest instalments of a series for until I've played the older ones
So far I've only played Rondo and Symphony.
I tried playing the really old ones like Draculas Curse and Simons Quest and really hated them
What do you want to talk about user? I never get tired of discussing these series. I also disagree with the previous poster about OoE as I didn't like that. But I think CotM is perfect and not many people agree with that.
I just beat Castlevania 4 for the first time tonight
>Want a discussion thread
>Didn't think of discussion topics
Maybe I should've planned ahead.
Well what Castlevanias should I play if I liked the first %80 of Symphony and Rondo but didn't like the NES games?
Play, in this order:
-AoS
-CotM
-DoS
-OoE
Anyone here excited for Grimoire of Souls?
Castlevania 4 is like the NES games but improved in every way. You can whip in 8 directions and the difficulty is just right.
How do you feel? A little sad? A bit empty because now your goal is met and replaced with a void you'll need to fill arbitrarily? Did you look in the mirror and think about how nothing changed?
I hope not, I hope you had fun.
>NEW GAME BAD!
That's a good idea. Always best to start from the old. I like the metroidvanias over the old platformers too.
bloodstained 1 was cool because it was modeled off of real castlevania, ie 1,3,4. bloodstained 2 is a bad copy of castlevania once they became a bad copy of metroid
2.5D shit is always bad, uncultured piglet.
See this shit right here?
This is the only bloodstained that's good.
Develop some taste, and also some testes while you're at it, shitty excuse of a man.
They're often talking about it on
/vr/ is just autistic classicvania fags central.
The castlevania threads are even more boring than those on Yea Forums, they're essentially fossilized with the same 2 opinions max.
Well, you could always get a Harmony of Despair room going if you're that desperate for a Castlevania thread.
Unless you're unaware of the PC port.
This series has no future
It's the only castlevania game I played, there's ways the NES games if I want more
How about talking about the Lecarde Chronicles fan games? I finished 2 recently. It didn't give me a great first impression but I liked it more as I progressed. It's basically Simon's Quest done right.
>hurr durr I regurgitate AVGN because I can't think for myself. Simon's Quest is SHIT
Then explain my dislike of the game boy castlevanias and Haunted Castle, which haven't been reviewed by the guy so far.
Cotm while great is more primitive, hence it should go before AoS.
Simon's Quest was widely disliked LONG before AVGN talked about it.
Stop being so insecure, i can smell the piss leaking down your pants from here.
Christ, bunch of babies in this thread.
CotM isn't necessarily more primitive, it's execution is just different.
CotM and OoE have a lot in common in the sense that they're both wild cards that tried something different, while at the same time repurposing tons of elements from classic Castlevania games.
They shouldn't be viewed as more "complex" or "primitive" but just as games that didn't do exactly the same shit other metroidvanias did and did their own thing instead.
He's familiar with SOTN, so the next logical step should always be to play SOTN 2.0, aka AoS.
Are those PS2 games any good? It seems they reviewed poorly because they're jank, but I can deal with jank as long as it isn't Blood Will Tell levels
b-bros... w-we should play... Jankvania
>I think CotM is perfect
Best taste in the thread.
Isn't there one of these games that has cooperative multiplayer? Maybe it was for DS or something, I can't remember.
Is it possible to emulate that and play multiplayer?
Lament of Innocence is...mehok?
It has a really solid soundtrack, and it's sort of a proof of concept, i suppose?
It has Joachim Mode that i found pretty fun, tho.
Curse of Darkness is the real deal.
It's pretty goddamn patrician and the true definition of a hidden gem.
It's not on par with any of the 2D Castlevanias, of course, but you can tell they actually tried.
It's one of those games that will be appreciated more down the line as more people go back and replay it.
see
OP here, I'm down for multiplayer Castlevania
drive.google.com
I'll spoonfeed you, since you asked nicely.
What kind of fucking name is Soma Cruz
If we do this, we do this right.
Richter only.
Thanks to the user who recommended Aria of Sorrow, I already like it heaps
we gonna need more people, I'm down but I have to start over since I formatted my pc since last time we played lmao
How many people do we need? We have three it looks like at least
At least seven.
Alucard voice actor cameo aside, the first was just a funner game all around.
>Caring about graphics over gameplay.
Isn't there a VN thread you should be shitting up?
>Graphics
>VNs
lmao
Should I say visuals so I don't trigger your assburgers?
One of the most beloved VNs is Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, which has sprites that look like pic related
VNChads don't care about graphics, your shitpost would've made more sense if he said he cared about story
Dawn of Sorrows is my favorite Castlevania
Order of Ecclesia feels like a fucking 2D Dark Souls, I had trouble when I had few souls but I'm beating bosses pretty easy. That creeping skeleton guy was a joke.
Really? That's good news since enjoying 2 has made me consider playing the first one as well.
I'm hosting a HoD team room thing
You need to set your tags as poison and comfy.
wat server
Tags are set to poison and comfortable as advised by
You, the host, need to start the game. Also after two games straight, you may experience an FPS bug. Only fix is to quit the game and rejoin the room/remake the room.
holy shit what is going on
>stand by
jesus you're quick
How about all those Bloodstained content updates guys? Haha...
Sure you wanna stick with Maria? She takes some grinding.
I mainly picked her because she carried me through Rondo
Is the rpg bug still working?
>why do the threads of a dead franchise die out so quickly?
Gee OP, I fucking wonder why, the real reason is because there is nothing new to discuss, every game, every secret, every possible topic about Castlevania has already been discussed hell and back.
Her Guardian Knuckle ability is in a chest.
Anyone looking forward to Blasphemous? I'm hoping it's decent enough to fill the void for a bit. Wish they would make a Castlevania HD 2
I once dreamed about Castlevania SotN but it was like Dark Souls, same setting as SotN but with the combat of DS, it was nice.
Dead threads for a dead series
Revisiting these games after ~30 years of playing them on an off really does solidify that they're actually not very good. They're so fucking slow compared to something like Rescue Rangers, and way too simplistic compared to something like Mega Man.
I really have nothing nice to say about these games. Except that Portrait of Ruin Lv. 1 Hard mode was a bitch.
That was shit
That giant sledge hammer is there for a reason. But yeah, mission 3 sucks.
cant believe i missed the fucking hammer, also can't play with this controller
Ggs fellas, that game was lots of fun
What's the stage 3 theme from?
I was just resetting if you still wanna continue.
3 and 5 are the worst, everything else is good.
I wanna play if i can figure this out never did this before always wanted to though
Imma join again
Taking a break for now, I don't want to stick with Maria though. Her angles are way too weird
what part you're having trouble with?
trying to get the game. just download and unzip the file right?
I liked the anime.
Made a new room, poison and comfortable are the tags.
Game is if you want to play.
wait for me bro
By the way, game's in english if you hold down trigger while selecting your character.
That's all
That would've helpful to know
i think im bros
>cant spam DIE SHANOA ANYMORE
dead as fuck game
We'll keep it normal for new players. Use the characters you never play.
How much do the DSVanias use the touch screen? I'm going to emulate them and usually use a controller for it
Dawn of Sorrow is the one that really uses it (you can patch it out). Portrait uses it one of the bonus modes. No idea about Order, but I don't think it's necessary.
What do anons think of the new Castlevania game coming this year featuring Alucard and Soma as the protagonists working for an international detective agency?
> It's a gacha
WHAT THE FUCK I GOT STUCK THIS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE
>crashes as soon as boss dies
what a shitshow
>no one recommends PoR
Why?
i have no clue what im doing or what the point is, dosent help all my shit is in moonstones.
Someone post the Challenge pack
We need a fucking tutorial video, Europeans don't know what they're doing.
Go to multiplay and search for the room with the "poison" tag.
If you want to change your name:
>Howtoplay
>Settings
>Others
Is it RNG that determines if I get a power from a killed enemy in AoS?
i was in the last game, i just had no clue how to play all my shit was in jap
Some fragments are in Japanese because the creator stopped developing this game some months ago. You'll get used to it quickly, only thing you need to know how to equip your character
What you do is kill things until they die and collect loot from chests, the point is to defeat the boss and get the best loot.
so is poison and comfortable gone then?
No, it's back.
im richter, ill be back in a few bro gotta take care of somethinmg
Now that konami's going back to console games, what will the next castlevania look like?
I love Castlevania.
Pachinko
They said this immediately after anti pachinko regulations were passed. This era is coming to an end.
How long is a few, exactly?
>can't spam DIE SHANOA anymore
my dude, there are similar games on the same system that outshine cv2 by fucking MILES.
it's garbo. truly one of the worst of its genre.
Starting the game in three minutes.
Aren't gacha Castlevania with the blond bimbo confirmed for this year?
Getting your information from Yong is probably your first mistake as far as anything video game related.
I thought that's been out for years now, and even then it'll probably be the last one since pachinko isn't going to be financially viable soon.
OH FUCK MY CONTROLLER DIED
Crap I misread that Yes it is
nichegamer.com
Don't be a nig nog now
Beta for 2 years, out later this year. Don't ask how a gacha need a two years beta
They will just double down on mobile games. Konami’s games division is only a small piece of the company.
I can see waves of gacha but mobile doesn't qualify as a "high end console" and makes no sense in context.
Why are Castlevania OSTs so good?
Better now?
Yeah sorry that's why it took me so long
Switch is a mobile console. Plenty of untapped gacha potential there.
I had a lot of fun with it, it feels like a fourth DS Castlevania we never got. I thought the soundtrack was a bit lacking in comparison, and some of the progression steps were clumsily handled. Nevertheless, I'd give it a solid 8/10. I hope they make more.
CotM would be great if you got more than 3 cards in an average playthrough.
Jesus christ I'm rusty as shit, you da man tho.
Hell mode isn't a fucking joke.
If you're Albus, you upgrade his pistol by holding the shoot button, the higher level it goes, the faster it shoots.
What did you think about the collection?
Was the RPG bug fixed?, I remember we did a shit ton of damage with it.
That was fixed ages ago. If you can find an old copy of the game, you can still carry over the stats.
Damn that sucks, too bad I forgot to backup the registry so I'm basically starting over again
Nobody's gonna recommend this one but try out Portrait of Ruin. The game obviously lost budget halfway through, but controlling 2 characters at once was pretty cool and the mid-game boss fight was extremely kino.
I agree. I replayed CoD several months ago, and it truly is overlooked, great music, great crafting system, good challenge. The biggest problem I have with it is it's level design. I realize that it probably saved time to make 70% of the game long hallways connected to square rooms, but it made for some really forgettable areas. Particularly Dracula's Castle, which is a shame.
Aria of Sorrow so far feels extremely similar to Symphony, does it come into its own eventually?
THAT WAS THE GAME
Holy shit I remember playing that as a kid but I never found it again. I thought it might've been some obscure GBA only castlevania and kept looking there.
Blasphemous looks gorgeous, but it reminds me more of Dead Cells or Dark Souls rather than Castlevania.
No, most of the igavanias are just derivative clones of SOTN. OoE is the most different.
Done for the night/morning.
GG. Shanoa post-patch is stupidly strong.
I disagree with , but I suppose it does depend on what you're expecting out of the game. I would say it's a bit like comparing Mario 3 to Mario World, in that the latter game has the original's DNA all over it, but it changes the formula. Plus there's some really kino moments in AoS that I hope have not been spoiled for you.
I'm tearing up so gonna go to sleep
It was fun mein negger whipalot
Castleman is that you?
What's Death whispering to Alucard?
traps are gay
toot
I don't like Symphony of the night, there I said it.
OF COURSE YOU DONT LIKE SYMPHONY JIM
HEY EVERYONE, IM JIM, I DONT LIKE SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT
So, what do you think is gonna be in the second collection?
The pachislot classics and Lord of shadows.
i desperately wish there was more to talk about
i'm so starved for castlevania that i convinced myself bloodstained was a good game, wheras really, objectively it's pretty mediocre/average.
i would suck every konami executives dick if they put castlevania hd on pc though
I listen to castlevania tracks everyday. It feels so melancholic, knowing that we can never experience another series like this yet we should be happy to have it exist.
You forgot the gacha mobile game port
You're in luck, they're releasing a collection on steam.
I doubt it, more like the PS2 games.

>Richter is supposed to have long hair here
>Sprite has short hair
That's what they get for directly lifting them from Rondo.
