D-Pad for Fighting games.
Analog for Shooters.

>digital
good for menus, 2d movement
>analog
good for 3d movement

>Shooters
You mean FPS games right? Because playing shmups with the analog stick should be punishable by death.

Analog does both.

>Platformers
Digital
>Fighting games
Keyboard
>Literally everything else
Analog

remember when the digital sticks used to be above the Analog sticks?
Only true oldfags know.

Digital normal run speed
Shift to walk
Control to crouch
X to sprint

does the mouse count as analog?

is there a secret to keyboard in fighting games? can't get used to it.

They both have their uses. One size does not fit all.

D-Pad for Fighting Games
M+KB for Shooters

The secret is having no other alternative except mechanical keyboards so you grind it out like an autist until you can use it to its full potential
It offers a lot of customization by default but you need to abandon all other controllers for it

analog if the game can take analog

>digital sticks
you what

>playing 2d platformers with the analog stick

"if the game can take analog"
likely most 2D platformers just read it as 4 digital buttons instead of 2 axes

i miss analog face buttons. playing racing games with triggers for gas and brake is shit

Yeah but if it does that then why not just use the pad? Why would you want nebulous inputs somewhere within the active zones of a stick when you can push a button/direction and be 100% sure you're getting that on/off input the moment you want it?

>Akoposter is dumb
lmao poetic

This guy knows whats up. Anal logs are for queers.

Not really a debate. Each are good for different kind of games.

are you still talking about 2D platformers?
some games still read analog axis inputs for slow walk or some minor directioning
I still remember some STG cabinets that moved your ship depending on your pressure

Gyro.

So this is what you guys do while chad plays classic

Only an absolute autist would call shmups shooters out of context.

>FPS
>controller
No thanks.

what's a shooter then

>shooters on a controller
low effort bait

D-Pad for fighting games, analog for driving games and games that use an overhead camera

Nowhere did I imply that FPS isn't a shooter.

Not important

Analog for anything where non precise, fast movement is needed. D-pad for precision and menu navigation

There is no debate here, faggot OP.

The Neo Geo Pocket clicky stick

sucks that nobody ever tried to bring that design back

This, how is this even a debate?

What if games made proper use of the analog D-pad (e.g. PS2)?
