Ground Zeroes has a summary about the events that happened in Peace Walker. Maybe you can find it on youtube.
That "shitty PSP game" is 100 times superior to both MGSV games combined. It's nearly as great as the MGS3.
Fucking PLAY IT. It takes ~20h to beat the story alone, all 5 chapters.
>skipping the true mgs5 to play the shitty unfinished mgsv
lol
this, V should have been PW but better but it ends up being half baked shite
Just play the goddamn game. It is magnificent, and emulates great on any wormbox made in past 5 years. Prepare for a huge disappointment in case of V.
Only 3-5 characters of import are introduced and subsequently killed in GZ&PP. Strangelove is Hal's mom, Huey is Hal's dad basically the same character but with even more reasoning put behind why he killed himself other than just cucked by son, Chico dies in the helicopter explosion basically a one note character you have to rescue since he's a child soldier, and Paz is a Cipher agent that reported directly to Zero. Stupid shitty bossfights, fun base building if you like that, and meh stealth gameplay. Just listen to the audio tapes because Miller is fleshed out far more and adds to who he was in MG2 and MGS1.
That psp game is better than mgsv lmao
Wrong, the open world is what killed V and everything wrong with V stems from PW.
That "shitty PSP game" turned out way fucking better than V, so you should just play this and skip V altogether
Wrong, you are fucking retarded.
Watch this

>no cutscenes of importance
>all story told through audio book
>shitty bossfights
>repeating bossfights
>doesn't really make any difference in the overall plot of MG universe if anything makes it worse
yeah OP, Peace Walker is actually incredible. I think I still have spent more time in PW than in MGSV, including the MGO3. I racked up over 400 hours in PW and that's just with the single player content. It was my first MGS game. The story was nice, kinda retarded sometimes, particularly during the first ending, but MB is so well realized it's actually surprising how superior it is to MGSV. It's better in a lot of regards, while V trumps it in the game world size, presentation and gameplay mechanics. That doesn't mean Peace Walker plays badly. If your only choice is to play it on a PSP, with the single nub then that's tough, but that's how I played it for hundreds of hours until I bought it for Vita.
Also, it's the last game where you actually play .... well, never mind.
Honestly, Peace Walker is what V was going to be but in a much grander scale. Due to whatever reason, probably having to do with Kojima's troubles with Konami, that didn't come to fruition so in a lot of ways, the game actually feels smaller than PW. The side ops in V aren't as fully realized as they are in Peace Walker's extra-ops, there aren't nearly as many...
Peace Walker content is featured prominently in Ground Zeroes, so it'd be great to first familiarize yourself with it before going into GZ and V. If you skip it, you'll be missing some of the best scenes in all of MGS.
Also, remember, it was also A Hideo Kojima directed game. It's as canon as 1, 2, 3, 4, and V. It's a main game.
Based.
Why did anyone think making bosses Monster Hunter fights was a good idea? Shit was fuckin boring and when you play actual Monster Hunter you actually have to play it instead of move and shoot unless you're a gunner or whatever.
faggot
>everything wrong with V stems from PW.
False.
PW was not open world. PW has actual map-design.
PW was not filled with endless waiting, it was instant action through and through.
PW also had A TON of variation when it comes to side quests, instead of literally repeating the same mundane task in same maps x100.
PW also is a FINISHED GAME, that has proper MULTIPLAYER MODES, including CO-OP, actually fascinating story and fun characters, BB is not a mute Medic boy, guns are real pieces from the era (for the most part), and in general, the game oozes of charm and soul.
>if anything makes it worse
Nope. V is the one that does that.
PW is a perfect finale to BB's tale. If GZ would've been the very last MGS game, we'd had a truly epic, heart-butchering finale for him, that would've explained his rise to power and lust for revenge extremely well.
I WILL DIVE INTO THE FIRE
SPILLING THE BLOOD OF MY DESIRE
PW is million times more fun and satisfying to play than any MoHun, kid.
Ignore the MGSV seething. PW is good, V is just a better version in every way besides story. I forget that v autists don’t know how to enioy gameplay anymore. Story of PW is entirely explained in GZ and tapes from V, as well as in an abundance of YT videos made specifically for lazy fucks like you.
Calling me a faggot doesn't diminish my point though but just means I'm a faggot with a point.
>476637620
nope, you're just a fag.
So tell me about this fascinating story with making The Boss an AI and all these retarded characters that were either killed in GZ/V or just written off entirely in Amanda and bird bitch's case. The story is fuckin atrocious and same for V but I actually liked playing V.
>V is just a better version in every way besides story. I
And gameplay.
And character design.
And map-design.
And multiplayer.
And in being a finished game.
Yep just proving my point further
>And in being a finished game.
holy kek almighty you're retarded
Maybe the base building aspect but actual gameplay you're a fuckin retard.
>I want to skip on a good game, so I can play a shitty but pretty one
You're using the bible to prove that god exists.
You are also focusing on some very secondary aspects of the overall story and narrative in PW, and again, mirroring them to V's utter butchering of all of that. Hell, V even goes it way out to fuck up MG1-MGS1's plots.
The actual gameplay is million times superior in PW.
You don't need to waste countless hours waiting for choppers, collecting flowers, running through a huge yet empty maps, sitting on your ass while real-time timers count down in your R&D, do stupid tacked-on Alt.Base defense drills, and most importantly: do the exact same fucking missions 2-3 times in a row, just to proceed in the story / unlock a goddamn ending cinematic that's a huge cop-out and cliffhanger.
PW's only flaw is that it was made for a handheld. If certain aspects had been unrestricted it would have been spectacular.
This. Though I find that to add to the game's charm in a way. I really dig those detailed low-poly models too.
V was hype as fuck originally, because it SEEMED AS we'd be truly getting the "PW 2.0 HD". Yet somehow, not only was the game never truly finished, but it ended up being inferior to a fucking PSP title in most possible ways.
>gameplay: MGS3 but shittier controls
>character design: Venom Snake looks better than any character of Peace Walker, also Man on Fire and Psycho Mantis
>map design: is shit just like MGSV’s is but without the good gameplay
>who gives a shit about metal gear online multiplayer, especially if he’s playing them now
>MGSV is finished, (You) just don’t think it is.
Both 4 and 5 are good, but peace walker is probably the best psp game, strange that i missed 2010+ psp games, i played on a tablet at that time lile a retard
You might be autistic. You don’t spend countless hours doing all of the menial bullshit you say you do, unless you are just shit at the game.
No, it's actually a shitty PSP game with a goofy ass story, even by MGS standards, the worst boss fights in the series, and unbalanced solo gameplay due to Kojima trying to force everyone to play in co-op.
The positives are that the music and voiceovers are good and in abundance and that it controls surprisingly well.
what the fuck? Peace Walker controlled Way better than MGS3, unless you were playing it on PSP.
Look at Portable Ops, a PSP game that tried to control like MGS3 and it was horrific. PW was a PSP game that tried to control like MGS4 and did a pretty good job of it even with just the single nub. Despite how annoying sometimes it was to rotate the camera with the face buttons, it was still pretty good control-wise. If you're playing it on a PS Vita or PS3, then there is no way you can say MGS3 controls better than PW, because the camera can be controlled by the right stick, and if need be, on the Vita, you can even remap the other buttons.
>gameplay: MGS3 but shittier controls
Thanks for proving us that you don't even know what "gameplay" means.
Not to mention being able to crouch-walk and effectively aim WHILE moving already puts it several steps above MGS3's crawling simulator. Small extra additions, such as armored / helmeted enemies nerfing the Hush Puppy, are also very welcome.
>character design: Venom Snake looks better than any character of Peace Walker,
And here you go mixing graphical specs with design.
Every single character has superior design and more legit CHARACTER in PW.
Fireguy and Psycho are like completely out of place easter eggs, that just water down their characters.
>map design: is shit just like MGSV’s is but without the good gameplay
Just admit that you've not played PW and don't even know what "map design" refers to, okay?
>who gives a shit about metal gear online multiplayer?
The millions of us who loved MGO1 and 2 to death, and are super salty at what Jewnami did to MGO3 + can't understand why there is no co-op in V.
PW still has players on PS3, and you can host your own games on PPSSPP with ease. And best of all: you can literally beat the whole campaign with up to 4 friends, right from the get go!
>MGSV is finished,
Go shill your unfinished games elsewhere.
(You) just have not even played the game at all, sonny jim.
unbalanced? git gud faggot. I did everything solo, including the red skull side-ops. Going co-op was never necessary nor did I ever feel it was necessary, and I S ranked pretty much eveyrthing except for the Monster Hunter fights, mostly because I had lost interest by then...
A couple Americans, a mongrel, and some Mexicans, build themselves an ocean rig and a nuclear equipped mech, for the Russian government, by the Russian government, Big Boss becomes a demon, and then some spook niggers posing as the American government in the distance get mad.
>I did everything solo
I never said I didn't do the same dumbass, I said that it was obviously balanced towards co-op play.
wait, which one is the mongrel?
then it wouldn't have been possible to solo everything...
The one spook in the game that matters
Miller
>Being balanced towards one thing means that it's literally impossible to do it any other way
oh right... can't believe that slipped my mind...
it really is a shame Peace Walker was a more fulfilling package than what MGS V turned out to be. All they had to do, even considering the other shit, was end it with a short recreation of Solid's fight with BB/Vn at the end of MG1.
PW is worse than V because it's 10 times easier
They never overtly explore the fallout of that in TPP.
Miller probably wasn't ever a traitor, but the fact that his dealings lead to MSF being sunk would instill distrust between him and BB, and because of the circumstances, Miller never has the chance to explain himself and reconcile it in person. He's just automatically stranded on a decoy, in a memory, with a puppet, but always within reach of BB's right hand man whom had assumed Miller as a traitor to Big Boss's cause in the subtext.
>Miller never has the chance to explain himself and reconcile it in person.
and vice versa, I should mention; Ocelot is the only person Big Boss has contact with from the time he wakes up, after going under. He and Miller never confront each other.
The problem is that Peace Walker's combat makes it so easy to the point where it's unenjoyable. Even V offered more of a challenge, and that one was a cakewalk as well.
False.
V is unironically the easiest MGS to date with no real fail-state. You can order infinite amount of re-supplies, your HP regenerates, your "Buddies" are pretty much literal cheats ... list goes on.
Also nice job, trying to pinpoint ONE (1) superficial detail where V would excel at, only to get even that wrong.
MONSIEUUUUUUUR MILLLEEEEEEEEERR
unfortunately I don't think Peace Walker was ever meant to be challenging, being on a handheld. Just a casual, fun experience, with emphasis on co-op.
S ranking the boss fights in solo was probably the most difficult challenge of the game, but it was difficult because it was fucking tedious and unreliable
I forgot buddies existed. I never used them
>modern games get "better" if you ignore most of its content
why is this so common nowadays ?
Wasn't trying to say that. I just forgot about them
PW is better than V, but V has a better story due to Quiet alone. Venom and Quiet is unironically the best love story in the series.
This games story takes technology thats centuries (or perhaps decades) ahead of our own time and uses it as major plot points but in the 70's.
And its not a shitty game, to my surprise. It was the only game I played on the PSP. I did all but the secret missions at the end of the game clocking at 99 hours.
What you could do is (play the xbox version) or just go ahead and get on MGS:5 and inbetween breaks just read stuff from the wiki page from the first mission to the last ones.
Theres alot of plot in the side-missions as well. The suppressed shotgun was my favorite weapon in the game
>V has a better story due to Quiet alone
No. Just no.
Saying anything so idiotic is just insulting towards the entire series.
>lol just READ the games bro! :^)
Absolutely motherfucking disgusting.
lmao PW may be better than V, but Kojima did a good job of making the players fall in love with Quiet even though he's usually retarded with romance. She has an ugly in game model, but the mute tool falling in love with another mute tool is great.
god Amanda was so fucking hot
Cecile best girl, shame she didn't appear in GZ so no HD model.
>pw let's you fuck paz and kaz
game was based
I hate V because it has hours upon hours of unhappy Kaz. It's just depressing to experience him like that.
the only good thing in peace walker is the monster hunter shit
Sounds like bait but if not PW is great.
Not having enough fultons to s rank boss missions without tank running people over is mega gay
I can't recommend actually playing it. The entire game is a variation of the first mission. Point A to point B and run circles around the helo and tank boss battles. (See Raven Boss Battle for more details)
Its for a handheld console what do you expect? Its a piss easy baby game it almost plays itself. Just read the story if you really want the gaps filled in the MGS universe or just not care. Its literally alot more entertaining if you remove the monotonous gameplay.
To (You) Is that a better comment or should OP go with my previous? REading is fun you got this far didn't you?
