They are RPGs. You know the common trope of RPGs is that the main characters start off weak, but progress in strength and development as the story goes on?

That's what happens in the Cold Steel games, and Rean is the protagonist. Cold Steel 1 ends on a cliff-hanger, and he gathers his friends that he separated from to defeat his enemies that defeated them. They come together, get stronger, and challenge the antagonists at the end. But the antagonists were just holding back this whole time, making the whole journey across two games entirely pointless.

Rean can also go super saiyon and is one of the few that can pilot a unique ancient mech.

I liked the games up towards the end of CS2. You get a feel about these kinds of games early on, so it was more fun for me read about the world-building, explore and not take it too seriously. It was my first time playing a Trails game, and it was nice to see that they are all connected.

This really annoyed me. They did not need to extend the story like that - it could have all ended right there, and it would have nice cap to end the characters' stories. Except they kept it going, apparently for 2 more games wtf.
