>link was designed to look like he did in oot while it was still in development to shill for that game
it was literally always an advertisement for other games besides maybe 64
Sakurai ruined this series.

Ironic considering smashstinkers are notorious for being the biggest secondaries imaginable
FPBP, Fire Emblem fans actually hate Roy more than Smash fans.
He didn't have to start the decline of the series just to spite tourneyfags
He saw he was wrong when he got fucked up in the brawl taunt parties and tried to fix it but it didn't work
One day we will get a good smash game again
Straying this far away from Nintendo characters was a big mistake.
Play a real fighting game
Dude, it was a glorified advertisement for other games from the start. It was literally the very first time I'd heard of Samus and Captain Falcon. I didn't unlock Ness, so I only found out about him in Melee.
Now it's Nintendo's Mugen.
And same thing happened with Corrin.
Unrelated but it's weird that they thought this might not have sold very well
It was a real, officially licensed video game where Mario, Link, and Pikachu could beat the shit out of each other. Did they really think it wouldn't fly off shelves?
On the contrary, it's arguably become Nintendo's flagship series

The next Smash will be a reboot, a 2D style could not hurt.
>We never got Porky, Skull Kid or Paper Mario in before being advertisement worthy became a necessity
wasn't this shit originally called dragon king but they changed the characters to more recognizable characters or some shit
Exactly, and though it was never confirmed, most believe they repurposed the only character they worked on into Captain Falcon.
>this autist again
>revealed to be a phoneposter
Eat soap and choke on it faggot. 64 is good, Melee is great, Brawl is the ultimate party game, Project M is also great, 4 sucked balls and Ultimate seems to be alright
That's only because it FEATURES Nintendo's flagship series. It no longer stands on its own. Smash used to have its own identity outside of all the references, set pieces, and characters from other series. There were still parts that felt undeniably unique, things that were specifically Smash Bros. It just happened to feature Nintendo characters, but that was part of the aesthetic. It was kinda like WarioWare in that sense. Imagine if WarioWare had none of original characters and their stories, and was filled with nothing but 9-Volt's microgames. That's what Smash has become. Sure it was mostly those microgames before, but the parts that were uniquely Smash have greatly diminished over time.
It never felt that way until smash 4. 4 has to be the most soulless smash by far. I'm glad that Ultimate turned the series around and introduces some fan favorite Nintendo characters again.
>GUYS this ONE (1) character in the entire game was put in before his game came out
>That means they have ALWAYS (always) treated it PURELY as a glorified ad
This mentality is simply wrong. Roy was one (1) single character on that roster who pulled that stunt. Smash always chose recent characters, but didn't go all in until smash 4.
>Smash used to have its own identity outside of all the references, set pieces, and characters from other series.
Since when? It was always known as a series where Mario beat up Pikachu, at least before the tourney autists appropriated it. The only original character was Master Hand.
People seem really adverse to the idea of it solely being Nintendo characters, popular or otherwise, today. So their disbelief was probably kinda warranted.
it still really isn't, beyond the DLC for Ultimate (minus Banjo).
I mean, the original game only launched a year after Pokemon launched in the US.
PLEASE GET YOUR BITCH ASS CRYBABY ASS OFF SOMEWHERE WAAAA WAAAA BIG FUCKING BABY
Only-nintendo-in-smash are the worst kind of rosterfag
Is Luke Skywalker okay?
banjo will always be a nintendo character to me and nobody can't tell me nothing
iirc they thought it wouldnt sell if they weren't nintendo characters.
