Come and discuss builds, lore, how much you hate the Faceless and how you want to cram a drill down Six's ayy lmao face.

Trigger Happy or Paranoia?
Do you have high perception?
Do you wear heavy armor?
If either, paranoia
Paranoia objectively does more for you. Get both anyway so you don't have to worry about failing initiative checks.
What build are you playing that you can afford to waste two feats on something silly like initiative?

press enter and walk around the corner
or just like, stealth
If armoured, neither of those
Introducing the new hardest difficulty: APEX HARDCORE
-can only be unlocked after beating the game on DOMINATING
-items sold are worth 10% their regular price
-carrying capacity reduced by 50%
-grenade cooldowns are increased by 1 turn
-high efficieny energy converters nerfed to regenerating x% of energy lost to damage, at y% per round
-toxic gas simply deals bio damage each round/if moved through; no damage multiplication
-using psi abilities from 1 school will increase the action point cost of psi abilities from other schools
-forcefield functions as an energy shield against ranged attacks and has a certain amount of hp against melee attacks before failing (dependent on skill)
-all npc's have 30% greater detection & trap detection (bosses have 50% greater)
-bear traps dont function if they deal no damage, stronger enemies have shorter durations, and spotted traps use your traps skill vs their dodge
-some enemies (typically knife-users) will have black dragon throwing knives/crossbow bolts, and such traps can also be found
-trap location and type is somewhat random
-enemy placement is somewhat random
-npc's that spot traps or corpses will turn orange and search the map (and pull alarms, if any)
-if spotted, all hostile npc's on that map will never turn back to green; yellow minimum
-npc's will not enter dangerous terrain (such as gas, fire, or traps) unless they have a clear path to you
-most hostile npc's, if they can't attack you on their current turn, will instead head for cover or distance
-if you are seen entering stealth in a controlled or partially controlled map, npc's will turn hostile
-each of the five tribal invasions will be lead by a boss tribal; old ice guy first, then eldran, then bone guy, then oyensorm, then magnar
-Tchort will resurrect after a few turns as long as at least one mutagen tank is still active; how long depends on how many are active
Paranoia crit reduction is quite useful for armored builds
How about all those battles where you can't press enter and walk around the corner?
Well maybe you could pick a feat that will help you always instead of occasionally.
Does Paranoia's detection bonus apply towards trap detection?
That's not what I asked, did I faggot?
Cursed

Where do you put Specilization points as a Psychosis Psi user?

Why is upper underrail so pretty and shit?
Even based hybrid psi users?
*enrage*
how about you kill everyone else instead
Zero tolerance.
Daily reminder that toying with other people mind's is not cool
Who's the most based character and why is it Gorsky?
Is Coretech the best oligarch to join overall or should I join one depending on my build?
Strength through Order
The best one is the one that fits your character's ideology and interests most.
>Not joining Praetorian
Actually, it's immoral, but extremely cool.
Join Coretech so you can meet uncle Rupert, he's quite entertaining.
Coretech if you want the best vendor
Praetorian if you want to join the "nice-ish" guys
JKK for the most elaborate questline
what's the link to the discord? i need to complain about exo aura
>Coretech if you want the best vendor
Isn't it just electronics though?
is this another thinly veiled "go to vg" post
Yes, and everyone needs a good shield emitter.
I'm having quite a bit of trouble finding a rapid reloader and good AR parts in general, is there another vendor good for that that isn't the Praetorian one?
Then you wonder why people hate psi users
Constantine or Oskar.
How long does it take for vendors to regen money? I've become a loot goblin and have lots to sell.
Also, I'm headed to Junkyard soon. Do I take the ferry or go on foot? Is there a lot of enemies on the way? Just trying to prepare myself.
I'm level 18, am I ready for Expedition?
there are a couple tougher enemies
up to you really they're not that bad but they do have a lot of health
Absolutely.
The Godmen monoliths.
>Institute monolith happily chills at Biocorp University
>some retard betrays Biocorp and turns the place into a cultist den
>monolith earthquakes everything that had Godmen tech and knowledge in, cutting the cultists off
>they send in a recon squad
>monolith manipulates their leader into wiping out the full squad and abandoning his mission
>NFT fishes out a Leviathan monolith and comes under its influence
>Glowing Canine earthquakes their cave, revealing them to Biocorp
>stands guard at the only entrance for centuries, making sure the influence can't spread beyond it
>takes control of the Ferryman and uses him as its proxy to kill Flottsormir's mightiest warrior
>gives you an extradimensional broomstick to buttfuck the Leviathan cultists once and for all
>purifies the only cultist worth saving
No one's more based than monoliths. I bet the most recent earthquake was Mainframe's doing, adding its own keikaku to the pile to fuck Tchort.
Can anyone edit the wiki?
It says Advanced Psi Empathy takes 25% of your health but in my game it says 15%.
>Psionics cannot miss
>Are learned though teachers and masters, not feats
>Can spend their feat points on purely improving their character, not choosing between skills and improvements (The few Psi skills you learn through feats are also overpowered as fuck)
>Grow in power through leveling up, are not reliant upon you finding a better weapon
>Are all synergistic and work together
Honestly it is strange how different Psionics are. I feel like there should be some skills that Guns/Melee should be able to learn from quests or teachers. It feels pretty OP that almost all your feats are just improving your character, damage, crafting, or whatever you want. Meanwhile Guns/Melee are spending their feat points on absolutely necessary skills like Expose Weakness or Aimed Shot, that they definitely cannot live without.

Mad because I'm stylin' on him?
>Can anyone edit the wiki?
Yeah, you.
I'll make an account later
Can't edit things publicly like a normal wiki
Is that why the Godmen put those monoliths there to start with? It is explained why the Godmen are dicking around so much in the Underrail?
you forgot one
He was really fucking pissed by that point, on the verge of snapping. Even a little annoyance was enough to push him over the line.
based faceless bro
That's how he is all the time, though.
DOMINATING!
I killed the faceless in Buzzer's shop but can still trade with them. I thought you had to be nice on every occasion to get this
Arguably HE nades are better, Napalm grenades are better than Frag
Not necessarily in lower difficulties, in normal they are very forgiving, not so much in dominating
Normal mode sure is APEX
i very much disagree
frags always seem to be the strongest for me whereas HEs are almost useless
napalms are more for area denial than anything though they can be useful for damage in some situations
Nah, he is difficult, but even in the Oculus he lets you get away with some insults. But by Institute he lost it. Decades of scheming was backfiring on him in, if not the worst possible way, but in an awfully bad one. He somewhat calms down by Deep Caverns, and is fairly patient by the elevator talk.
I know. Just stocking up on the heavy shit. Can't wait till I get my hands on plasma grenades. Already have the blueprint, just need the skill.
>Decades of scheming was backfiring on him in, if not the worst possible way, but in an awfully bad one
nani?
Yeah, looks like I only have two points. Didn't realise that they'd still be this friendly in dialogue even without the best result
Talk to Azif after Deep Caverns.
I never noticed any difference between mostly friendly and best friends forever.
I know he had Oculus accept Tanner's request, I'm wondering how the hell that even mattered when you meet him at the institute.
The doc refused to heal me and said she'd only give supplies
>she
Dredd goes well with Underrail.
Because losing the earthquake was never part of his plan. He never wanted the Faceless invasion to happen, and he sure as fuck never wanted the Cube to disappear who knows where in the Deep Caverns. Azif tells you he was furious when the Cube was lost, and when you find him in the Institute he is at his absolutely lowest. Once he realizes things aren't yet fucked beyond repair he begins to relax.
Please don't tell me his autistic rage is the only reason why a psionic god can break free of his magic.
The doc never heals you. He always sends you off with 2 hypos, 3 bandages, 3 antidotes, and 2 morphines. This is always what you get. And the centaur always gives you 3 ammo packages, with the same amount of ammo.
I don't know, but that's not the point. His autistic rage at everything falling apart around him is his reason for attacking you if you push him even a little.
Well in that case the wiki is incomplete as I'm on normal, killed them in rail crossing and the commander is sharing tons of lore and gave me some supplies which sounds like the best outcome
Do I take Rapid Fire on an Assault Rifle build? Or am I just bursting till the cows come home?
Rapid fire is for firearm pistols and it sucks dick.
>min max perception for guns
>"you need x STRENGTH to use this weapon"
Thanks game!
It works with ARs too, but I figured it was just worse than regular bursting for ARs.
should've gotten 7 STR for full burst
am i finally playing this game right
not enough caltrops, literally litter the path from the mines to your bois with them and also poison them
also, what difficulty?
it's fine if you're normal
hard
i'm actually level 25 so i figured poison wasn't really necessary
when i start my dominating run though i gotta start stacking on that shit
>Level 25
>Just doing The Beast
???
look man i really didn't want to lug all the metal and traps around and now i'm about to head into DC i remembered one of my original goals was infused rathound
But it is such an easy quest. It requires minimal combat and the final section just requires a couple of bear traps, caltrops, and gas grenades. Literally free XP early game. On some builds you can rush and do that shit right after Depot A.
i honestly thought it would be much harder
on normal it was a cakewalk but i heard it was way harder on higher difficulties
Even on dominating it is all the same. Bear Traps up the ramp, a bunch of poisoned caltrops, gas grenades and Molotovs.
>losing the earthquake was never part of his plan
Uh? How do you lose something like that?
>tfw stealthy throwy boi build is coming apart
>urge to reroll into AR tincan build for first playthrough rising
are cave hopper boots a meme or nah
im not a fat boi if that matters but i do have sprint
What's the next step in his master plan? Surely he's not gonna stay a NEET after that ending.
If you regularly use sprint in and out of combat they are extremely useful.
so how are shotguns and spears for a brand new player? they sound really appealing
Well we don't know much about their purpose. They were made by the Godmen, they have some level of consciousness, they store things, but accessing their content is difficult even for the Godmen.
It's fascinating that even though they are Godmen creations, they can communicate their information in a way Godmen can't comprehend. Whatever concepts "Godmen" and "Leviathan" stand for, it's the term the glowing rocks use when communicating with both you and Azif. Flottsormir too is probably just Leviathan in ancient Cave-Swede. Yet Six is puzzled by the term Godmen. Even though he immediately confirms that his kin were the creators of the monoliths, he never gives you a name for his kin. He never identifies Tchort or Flottsormir as Leviathans either, even though he tells you the beings from the Inbetween are the enemies of his kin. You and him are clearly talking of the same concepts, but he is completely unfamiliar with your terms, to the point he can't recognize for certain what they could stand for.
I wouldn't really recommend shotguns for a new player. They are viable, but also pretty frustrating. Mostly because the best way to build them is to focus on burst firing with Combat Shotguns, and while the build definitely kills stuff it chews through piles and piles of shells. It can be pretty annoying to constantly have to buy/make ammo.
Spears are fun, but also a bit complex to play/build, especially being melee.
I wouldn't say either are particularly recommended for a new player, but between the two I'd say shotguns are probably better for a new player. If you're gonna play on normal shotguns will be more than strong enough if built appropriately, and preferably paired with a Sniper in your other weapon slot.
Eh, that was supposed to be
>losing the Cube because of the earthquake
or something like that. I probably tried to rewrite something there.
Poision your caltrops and traps user
Otherwise youre doing good lad
I think NEETdom was pretty much all he had planned for the foreseeable future. Though the Acorn does seem to reignite some spark in him.
is this the hopper graveyard
also how do i get them to drop their hide
That's the place. You get one higher quality leather, it's on one of the skeletons.
Shotties are great, but you lack range compared to other guns, so they're pretty risky, it's best to start with something safer like ARs or SMGs.
Spears are the more complex melee build due to being dependant on two weapon skills and various feats you NEED, unlike shotties which are already good with just Sixth Shell and Fragmented chaos.
Maybe a good dose of mushroom brew could jog his memory.
What sort of stats/feats am I looking for when trying to do an Energy Pistol build? Also, what does the "Polarized" effect do? The wiki just doesn't say.
the idea is to use a regular laser pistol on shitters and use your plasma pistol with aimed shot or execute with maximum crit bonus attachments to demolish anything
so get anything that helps with that
polarize makes it so the target takes more energy damage from further energy attacks, usually not worth getting except for on the electric aoe pistol
Really not convinced combat shotguns are better.
Sure, against bosses it's useful, but otherwise burst is overkill every time. Even then it's not as good as it looks because the precision loss means a lot less damage. Regular shotguns are a bit more flexible and do more damage per regular shot.
>What sort of stats/feats am I looking for when trying to do an Energy Pistol build?
10 INT minimum. high PER too, 9 is a good threshold but you could also get 11 for Scrutinous if you want to truly bust ass.
As for feats, Aimed Shot, High Technicalities and Practical physicist are the must and go to for any Energy Pistol build, all the other pistol ability feats like Rapid Fire are also good, bear in mind that Gun Nut does not work when crafting energy or chempistols.
>what does the "Polarized" effect do?
Polarizers dimish the Energy and Electrical resistance by 10%/7%, moreover, it also boosts the chance of critical hits by 3% for each stack of polarization up to a maximum of 5 stacks.
This is best used on Electrical pistols due to their ability to hit multiple times exactly like Electrokynesis, think of polarizers like the Psychostatic Electricy feat for psions, but without the feat investment and better debuff properties all around.
How far through the story are you when it's time to infiltrate the Institute?
>confronting a mind controller
I sincerely hope you guys didn't do this.
it's almost like our language is incomplete or something
how does energy/plasma pistol builds work? I thought with light weapons you wanted as much dex as possible for the lower ap cost
~75%, though from there you can rush to the end in just a few hours.
Burst is able to kill multiple mooks in one burst with that overkill. They also do more damage per AP than regular shotguns. The precision hit barely matters because retarded shotguns can only get like a 75% chance to hit anyway.
The real redpill is that regular shotguns have no real feats associated with them that combat shotguns can't also use. If you build a combat shotgun character you can always have a back up regular shotgun to use if you don't want to burst (to conserve ammo), but if you don't build for a combat shotgun you are seriously gimping your overall shotgun damage. Suppressive Fire/Opportunist/Full Auto is just so much more damage than a regular shotgun can possibly put out. There is no reason not to build for combat shotguns, because regular shotguns don't have enough feats associated with just them.
What do decades have to do with anything?
Underrail is a study on the challenges of cross-cultural communication.
trying to talk to yngwar was fun
Can't you just gut Vera quick and easy before you go?
>all plot items carry over when you export/import a character
>you can ask Tanner about the acorn right at the start if you have it
>you could potentially go around and hand acorns out like candy to all interested parties
How to convince Shelley to let Todd into R&D? Already inspected both portraits & I feel like I've exhausted every possible dialogue option combo...I really don't want to murder this poor bastard.
i just kept cycling through until i saw dialogue options that weren't there originally
>I thought with light weapons you wanted as much dex as possible for the lower ap cost
It's pointless with energy pistols since the only type that has prohibitive AP costs is Plasma, and it's a strictly boss eraser type of gun that does not benefit from AP reduction at all, none of the energy pistols do in fact.
Energy pistols have two main advantages:
The first is being energy based guns, which means hardly anything resists them, Electric pistols work like Electrokynesis while Plasma guns deal half energy half heat damage, there is nothing in the game that can resist energy pistols.
The second advantage is Crit Damage multipliers, energy pistols have obscene crit damage, with a top tier amplifiers and the Practical Physicist feat you can reach 400% bonus to critical damage, which is massive, that means your laser gun alone, which does that piddly 18-30 damage on paper, actually deals 300+ damage per critical shot if not more, High technicalities adds 8% more damage for each INT point above 5, which adds even more damage to it all, and do not forget this is energy damage we're talking about, something pretty much no enemy in the game resists, factor in other stuff like Opportunist and you can see your damage rise even more.
I guess it's self evident why you shouldn't care about boosting DEX, laser guns already have pretty standard AP costs, you can fire three times already at 5 DEX, and a single Aimed Shot alone means you probably already one shot somebody, Rapid Fire gives you three shots, which with high critical modifiers and damage means you can do insane damage to anything, and if something is really tough you can just whip out your pimped up plasma gun for easy 4 digit damage.
I had a feeling I was getting toward the end.
you gotta look at your Dex breakpoints. it doesn't even take much to get lasers to 10 ap per shot and making sure you hit what you're aiming at is worth more than shooting more often
>minding my own damn business in caves east of sgs
>walk into room with 8 rathound alphas
>start kiting and killing
>down to the last one so i stun it
> press spacebar
>my turn doesn't start
>instead i see some scorpion monstrosity come out of the shadows
>it stings the shit out of the rathound and kills it instantly
>then it climbs onto the ceiling and disappears
>mfw
should i keep going?
snibbedy snab
*bzzt*
Get the fuck out of there and don't look back.
Very much.
No, her death is not acknowledged in the ending slides.
It's friendly isn't it? It helped you kill those nasty alpha rathounds. You should thank it with your blood.
How are these for Feats? I am not sure on the order of a few of them or if something like Execute is necessary (I feel like with Aimed Shot and Critical Power, along with the crit damage increases, you'll probably one shot everything anyways)
My starting stats are as follows:
Strength - 3
Dexterity - 6 (but raised to 7 to get Grenadier. If you think Energy Pistols are good enough to not need it, that can be changed)
Agility - 6 (For Sprint)
Constitution - 5
Perception - 7 (I am putting one point in Dex, everything else goes into Perception on level up)
Will - 3
Intelligence - 10 (For High Technicalities)
I know the game handles allies horribly, but I still wish there was a mission in which you get a bunch of the cool NPCs as companions and go kick some bosses in the balls.
cya nerds
Rapid Fire does not works with energy/chemical pistols bro
also get practical physicist earlier, you might want to craft your first e-pistol before depot A
Are the energy or electric damage from energy edge or electroshock attachments multiplied on crit just like the mechanical damage on a melee weapon?
Personally the less I have to fight with allies the happier I am. But something like Dude's quest is fine. Come along, but stay out of my way.
isnt that what rathound king is
Oh. You're totally right. I saw some user in here mentioning rapid fire with energy pistols but looking at it you're right. I can get Physicist there instead.
The gorsky dan team up was nice
I just want to kick tanner in the balls with my best friend and wanted criminal, Anton.
I admit, I kind of wish we had some kind of companion system too sometimes.
do i ever get some sort of mobile home or some shit? im tired of walking and im too cheap to pay for train and boat rides.
SGS
Dude, it's 25 charons. Don't be that jewish.
No. Expedition gives you a Jet Ski. That's about it.
how doable are crossbows on normal?
Anything is doable on normal.
No can do, 25 charons are worth 0,83333333333 Super Steel, this is no laughing matter.
Each train ride takes you a step further away from your Super Steel.
Okay that last build was actually retarded and I don't know why I didn't bother to read. I am gonna skip out on Grenadier and get Power management and practical physicist closer to one another so I can craft a juicy energy pistol. Early on I'll be using the .44 and aimed shot to carry me. I think this is more focused and better than my last one, especially now that I am using feats that actually work.
I don't know why I thought I needed 7 dex, it's gonna stay at 6 and every level up is going into Perception.
I've only ever needed three plates of super steel. One for an infused leather armor, one for a specific tabi and one for an end game weapon. Thats only like 9K
jet ski storage, your home away from home
I have shit agility and it's fucking over my lockpick skill. been levelling it alongside hacking but it's only 40 at level 9. should i just give up on it or sunk costs apply?
Whats the best quality Rathound leather that is realistically obtainable? I have a 42 quality one that I thinking of fusing with the super steel.
It's hilarious that most players are likely to see the second tier of the Crawler enemies before the first tier ones.
>I have shit agility and it's fucking over my lockpick skill
Lockpicking uses DEX.
You mean dex right? If you are not leveling dex based skills at all then you can avoid it and use crowbars for vent opening. I find that having a jack knife made even 4 dex workable on my sniper.
My bad. Both are at the same shit level. I really thought it wouldn't hurt too bad but my hacking is already 80 and I've put 5 points into each every level.
Theres honestly no point in investing into a skill that you have dumped the governing stat for.
Makes sense, all I really wanted it for was to open vent shafts anyway. How hard do their locks get then?
unless you want a certain amount for a feat prereq.
I'm assuming you are a strength based guy based on the dumped AGI and DEX so just use a crowbar to pry em open.
Arch isle without the Aegis camp feels so...
...Vacant
Yea its kinda depressing. I just don't go back
>goliathus hits itself with pyrokinesis
ok
Okay cool. Now I feel dumb for not reading the description on those things.
I miss Ladelman and Marcus already
Friendship of the year.
That's Wyatt, Abram and Ezra
So, the Expedition is over
Aegis is gone
I still got the Acorn
When and where does this turboweeb spawns?
>loud wheezing in the distance
Go back to Core City and wander around. Some rando should come up to you and tell you about turboweeb.
Is Doctor a good feat to have on a pure psionic?
What about disassemble if I'm going all in on crafting?
Neato
Any feat is better than Disassemble
Doctor has it's uses but it's not really that important
I do however always pick it up as my 10 CON tanky tin can
>Is Doctor a good feat to have on a pure psionic?
Nope
>What about disassemble
It saves you repair kits for reselling at maximum jew price, has decent sinergy with the other crafting feats, but it's not really that useful unless you want to play as a pure scavenger.
>Aegis is gone
>Ferryman is gone
>Pirates are all dead
>Natives are all dead
>Black sea is now completely vacant
Man...
When you sit there in the middle of the empty island, thinking
Cool, so a better choice would be any of the psi feats then.
Correct
>over 100 hours in this run
>have yet to find a single rapid reloader
thats how it works, next playthrough when you don't need it, you will find it in every single store always
Do the 12.7mm Contaminated bullets actually contaminate through the cloud left behind?
Because being a Yuri Sniper would be fucking neat.
Muties?
Who gives a shit about muties really
I hope a biocorp survivor gases you in your house.
>That post Expedition depression
Really wanted to say thanks for saving me from an ass decision. Took Pyromaniac and my very next burrower fight was the easiest one I've had all game.
I literally got to level 18 as a shotgunner and didn't see a single shell belt
On my reroll I found a shell belt at like level 6
No problemo
How do you do a fist wizard? Full in on dodge and speed or tin can punchman?
that reminds me that i need to go back and murder all the muties for not letting me back in
Stay mobile and nimble
Full on evasion, dodge, psychokinesis and melee
Get DEX and STR, but mainly DEX
Live without armor penalty if possible
aight cool, thanks. was debating some kind of meme shield hybrid but that seems like way too many feats to pull off, plus encumbrance.
any non-obvious feats you'd recommend?
So Energy pistols get two enhancements. Is it just always Crit damage + special attack damage?
Sprint will be always useful in my opinion
Fast metabolism will help
Nimble
Paranoia or that feat that increases initiative
Escape artist
Uncanny dodge
Etc
But the main feat for you to get are:
Force user, combo, fancy footwork, lighting punches, wrestling, improved unarmed combat (only if you go bare fists, otherwise the feat bonus doesnt apply), bonebreaker if you want, not necessary
Corporeal projection only if you get 8 or above
neat, thanks. was thinking hit and run instead of sprint but that requires killing people so it's pretty dicey
Hit and run also is okay
As long youre not in dominating youre free to experiment
wow arke is extremely easy if you remember to bring w2c bullets
it was hell for my chem pistol build because i didn't have enough vials
Melee stealth got so SO much better now I have a Taser. Being able to cut throat one enemy, taze the closest one near him, and flashbang any leftovers feels so good.
Constantine finally had one just now holy fuck
I've never actually seen one and I always check no matter what run
Kinda wish there was some quest to push the player to the arena. Like, you're captured and forced to fight, or something. From a roleplaying perspective I don't know why my character would voluntarily risk getting murdered on reality TV when I'm already sitting on 15k charons and have several leads for world-ending cataclysms I should be following. It only works if you're not roleplaying or are roleplaying a bloodthirsty idiot with no priorities. But from a gameplay perspective, it's unfortunate to miss out on that content. Really wish devs would put more thought into planning around the ludonarrative dissonance of shit like this.
its better to pump int over perception with energy builds because it gives you tons of free skill points and you still get damage from high technicalities
oh my god
i just realized tchortlings go back into the holes if you don't have the eye of tchort
DC is going to be a lot easier than I thought
I had those + Dirty Kick just for the sheer stun capability in my Nuttin Personnel run.
Role-playing is a huge issue in RPGs. You're screwed as soon as you start inevitably to metagame. I hate Oculus quest line for this very reason
Yeah like how the faceless are these big baddies, you keep hearing about them attacking people and you watch the cutscenes of them slaughtering core city dwellers but when you finally meet them you don't just blast them like any patriot would do with weird cyber aliens, no, you act all pacifist and even help them because you know that later on in the game that'll come in handy.
Or make both the arena and the gauntlet optional like in Oblivion. Sneak-based builds are just reload nightmare in the arena.
Or how you're compelled to help Abram just for the sake of Oddity XP alone, since if you tell on him you're rewarded with a colossal 1 Oddity Xp and that's it, which is probably going to cost you a level
