Man, I get you wanted to have a Marathon thread but that post is insultingly stupid for a Marathon fan to make.
First off:
As crippled as they were by it, Bungie still negotiated with Activision to at least start work on Marathon 4 during the Destiny agreement that they wisely withdrew from, so we were getting an official entry either way, it's just a matter of time.
Second off you have a screencap from an announced fan remake of Marathon 1 in that image, and Bungie gives less of a fuck about what you do with Marathon outside of selling it than id and Zenimax do about Doom.
So what the fuck false drama are you attempting to make here?

How the fuck did Greg Kirkpatrick do it? As far as I'm aware he had never written any fiction before Marathon, and he didn't write any more after. But he banged out 3 games that were unironically way ahead of their time in terms of story.

I guess many older fans were Mac users in the 90s, back when Bungie was one of the few Mac-centric developers. Also, the Marathon series was fun and had tremendously good writing.
