Is there any reason to upgrade from a 4690k and GTX970 yet?

Is there any reason to upgrade from a 4690k and GTX970 yet?
My first computer build was a Athlon 64 X2, and a 9600GT, so the 4690+970 was a big jump.
Is there any computer equipment that would be that big of a jump today?

I run my games 1080p, and I have 3 screens, so I don't really seem to think anything is more impressive?

No.
I am still on i7 2600K + 1060 6gb myself.
Just upgraded to these from i5 2500 + 560ti.

>Is there any reason to upgrade from a 4690k and GTX970 yet?
ask yourself that question you fucking retard

Nice 2014 computer you have there.

I did, and all I can imagine is. The 3.5 Vram issue. Otherwise, the 4690k still has good single core performance, and all the games I play really only care about that.

then there you go moron. the fuck was the point of this thread?

flexing

For someone to tell me I'm wrong and there actually is something that makes it worth it.

>flexing with 6 generation old computer parts
Are you retarded?

Should I upgrade mine?
>i5 6500
>gtx 960
I just want to play games at 1080p 60FPS on 27” monitor

ask OP, not me

Why the fuck do you ask strangers if you have a reason to make a purchase?

>For someone to tell me I'm wrong and there actually is something that makes it worth it.
yeah be a good goy and spend 1k+ on a new PC to replace the one that currently fits your needs.

only thing I'd consider upping is the GPU.
The GTX 1660 would be a major boost for little money.

Did these extra threads make a difference?

>1080p 60FPS
if youre playing on that then no.

I was 4690k and 970 until this last year when I was able to snag a 1070Ti for $350, because I upgraded my monitor to 1440p 144hz.

Most games I see 100% cpu and gpu usage, but there are a few games where the 4690k at 4.4 ghz bottlenecks. I have wanted to upgrade to a 9900k, but stopped myself because of the state of intel.

I'll probably only upgrade the cpu, but will only upgrade both once 144hz 4k and an actual good gpu exists to run games at 90+ fps at 4k

Dunno about threads, but the K-models are unlocked, which let me OC the thing from the stock 3.1ghz to stable 4.2.
The extra processing speed + HT do help with some games, multitasking, and especially emulation.

Maybe a GPU upgrade if you really want top. Depends what you play. I'd personally grab a 1660TI or higher. CPU seems fine until new consoles come out and we see where Nvidia and Ryzen are at that point.

Moore's Law is dead, we've reached the artistic limit of videogames anything more complex and beautiful would square the amount of days in production.
Optimization on top of that is a complete failure, most games dont even use multiple cores.

PC gaming as an "edge of the future" is now over. Consoles are selling at a loss, so now you're getting equipment that's actually better than majority of "gaming" computers.
Your computer is basically future proof OP.

What should I upgrade?

Attached: speccy.png (660x524, 36K)

no wait a year till the prices of 2080 and R9 3900 drop and then build a new PC

i5 2500k (4.2gchz)
1060 6GB
1200p 60chz IPS

Till the day I die (or 2021).

>only upgrade the CPU
>needs new MOBO
>new MOBO needs DD4 RAM

>upgrading
so nice to buy a console and be completely set for 7 years

Guys I have no gf and have piller of cash ready to be disposed. Show me a build or set up that screams “I’m a wagie incel”

*at 900p 24 fps

OP's CPU came out in 2014
the i5 2500k came out in 2011

These guys are arguably as "completely set" as you.

>1200p
My negro!

lmao

My buddy was using an i5 750 + 8GB DDR3 + GTX 560 1GB up until January 2019, and only some very recent titles started causing issues on that rig. That's quite literally a decade old PC, mind you.

thats the other reason why I didn't bother

At this point I would wait until ps5/xbox scarlet hit. You'll have a newer gpu that can keep up with PC ports by then with 2nd gen ray tracing. And you'll know how many cores you need CPU wise.

Nobody believes you.

Got i7 7700k and an 11gb 1080 TI. When it croaks I'm switching to console gaming

Enjoy playing Control with 11 fps at 900p.

640p all low settings me thinks, if true.

>i7-7700k
>11GB 1080 Ti
>
>When it croaks

that'll be in the next, what, 10+ years

>2014 was 20 years ago

This is proof planned obsolescence is a myth in computers, pic unrelated though, Apple is shit.

Attached: maxresdefault[1].jpg (1280x720, 134K)

>building a computer years ago
>BRO THAT SHIT IS GONNA BE OBSOLETE
>FUTURE PROOF IS BULLSHIT
>years later
>wow no reason to upgrade, yet again
Feels fucking good

Attached: 1566794838475.png (200x164, 39K)

barring unexpected hardware failures, that sure does sound good

buy a nintendo switch

I have almost the same system and 1 1080p monitor (4790k instead) and the only reason I can see to upgrade is ray tracing/4k, and I'd still wait a while for the rtx cards to get better.

>tfw no money for upgrade
Still I would rather sit with toaster than get a job.

Attached: 1420760494903.jpg (640x640, 43K)

>GTX970
uuuuuuuhm sweety
we are already in 2019...
how long didnt you game?

>new videogames suck so much in actual gameplay that it's slowing down technology innovation

Not yet. Wait for more games that use 6 or more cores, then buy a Ryzen 5/7 and an RTX card

Pic is very much related, though. Apple products really do stand the test of time, because of the updates. Unlike shit Android phones that stop receiving updates after a year

Their batteries are shit, and after so many charges, just like every other battery. They don't hold charge as much anymore.
This obsolescence was planned, because it's such an involved task to replace the battery.
While removable battery androids dont suffer from this issue.

I7-7700 (non k) and a GTX 970, what would be a nice gpu upgrade (used)?

because they still run under the DirectX11 API aswell as it's all in favor to Intel which has been doing the same CPU over and over under a new "generation", it's frustrating as a 2500K performs almost the same as a 8700K

>2500K performs almost the same as a 8700K
What planet do you live on?

You don't need to.
And no, he played at 1080p. Didn't upgrade before trying to run Generation Zero, which struggled to keep 30fps at Low settings.

What kind of a console-peasant are you?
I was still on a 1GB GTX 560ti up until mid 2017s. Could still play that year's big releases, such as RE7, without issues, at 1920x1200.

From my experience, the batteries in iPhones start to deteriorate to the point of them being unusable as daily drivers after about 2-3 years, depending on how lucky you are. Letting Apple replace the battery with a new one costs 50-70 bucks. That's absolutely worth it, considering you're still getting software updates 5 years later.

Also, which high-end Android phones still have removable batteries? LG?

>paying 70 bucks to swap a battery
Found the Apple-shill.

>which high-end Android phones still have removable batteries? LG?
Samsung.

980ti 4790k here, I don't see a need to upgrade until the next-gen consoles drop.

GTA V would just fucking stutter and get massive texture pop in on my 4690k @4.5ghz 12GB ram and RX 580. I upgraded to r5-3600 and it's buttery smooth. Pic is with my old CPU. Even having 1 star wanted would make CPU struggle.

Attached: photo.jpg (1920x1080, 823K)

Listen, I'm not in the mood to get into a fanboy war, but I said that paying 70 bucks after 2-3 years of use is worth it, because you're still getting software updates many years later.

Also, if I do switch to Android, I would get a OnePlus or a Pixel, not a fucking shitty Samsung. Bought a Samsung once, never doing it again. Shit software, updates months later and laggy as fuck.

>buttery smooth

Attached: 1534731229280.jpg (350x296, 13K)

I still have a 980 and have yet to find a reason to upgrade.

>but I said that paying 70 bucks after 2-3 years of use is worth it,
No, it is fucking not.
I can get a new battery to ANY of my previous ~10 phones even today, for few bucks a piece, and swap it right here in a matter of seconds.

>muh softare upgrades
The fact that you're even boasting of this kind of stuff shows how far up in the Jobs' rotten ass your head already is. Everyone else enjoys not only free updates for years to come after the phone's release, but on Android phones, you can also install custom OS, Kernels, and apps.

>Bought a Samsung once, never doing it again.
Clearly you don't even know what you're doing with phones any more.

> Shit software, updates months later ...
Because you apparently are incapable of downloading better apps via internet.
And who the fuck lets his phone to "update" anything on its own? I am still using 2 years old version of Android 7, and it will stay as-is.

Not to mention my battery still last a whole week w/out recharging, unless I rock 4G + Bluetooth + Tethering + GPS at the same time for hours.
