What's the Yea Forumserdict?
Kayden Foster
Michael Rivera
it's shit
Jordan Jackson
Wait for it to be 75% off on steam.
Oliver Martinez
i need to finish it first. problem is i'm at uni and my PC's an hour away lol.
i'm just glad Remedy's back, honestly. wouldn't mind a sequel for this game
Julian Taylor
Only complaint I have is that enemy variety was a little low, other than that I loved everything about it.
Grayson Ross
Jippii, saatana/10
Kayden Jackson
More like CUNT ROLL amirite AHAHAHAHA
Henry Barnes
nigger
Noah Morris
Don't know. All i know is that i dont want to play as some roastie
Robert Harris
but you get to stare at her ass though
Colton Jones
6/10 waste of time
William Green
I got it for free and got bored after 45 minutes. Maybe I'll try it again some time but it was just another run around shooting game, pretty boring.
Charles Murphy
>using the n-word
Yikes! This is very problematic, folks.
Carson Foster
>If you ignore the godawful looking protag:
Graphics are top notch.
Story/world setting is fucking awesome. However it's not really explored into a neat way, it develops into a sort of cliche 'gotta save the world' sort of deal instead of some sort of horror story where your perception of reality is getting fucked up, you containing these weird objects of power, seeing things that twist the world around you(which you do, but the areas are repeated).
Gameplay - A little bit repetitive. Once you get your abilities, the game becomes a bit too samey.
I'd say it's a 6.5/10, get it on sale, game.
Daniel Ortiz
frame drop/10
Brandon Bennett
Too short. Game ended out of fucking nowhere, no proper boss fight, nothing, baiting for a sequel that will never ever come
Nicholas Clark
>Story/world setting is
putting me to sleep
Brandon Kelly
>release on steam summer 2020
yeah fuck them, going to pirate it now
Daniel Rodriguez
Why is the game called Control? It has more meaning than just "you can control objects flying in people's faces" right?
Julian Mitchell
TORILLE
Kayden Baker
The main building is literally the Federal Bureau of Control
Aaron Rodriguez
Ugleh
Xavier Baker
if you're into the setting it's pretty amazing. if you don't know what the setting is, it's an SCP game in all but name. they didn't take anything from SCP directly obviously, it's all original.
the gameplay also isn't like quantum break at all, it's like comparing warcraft 3 and age of empires because both are RTS.
only complaint is that, for a metroidvania, its pretty short and feels more like an intro to the universe. I'm pretty sure if you ignored all side content, you could get through the game's main story line in 6 hours on a blind run. obviously games with a metroidvania-semi open world like that would be prime candidates for a lot of side content, but there actually isn't all that much in the game. there is are maybe 6 or 7 small side quests and two big post-game bosses, which is pretty much it.
Wyatt Robinson
WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH VIBEEO GAEM GIRL UGLEEE!!!
Nicholas Brooks
meh, maybe on a big sale
Jace Howard
epic goty
Jace Walker
He was based and DYNAMITEpilled
Jackson Davis
Could have been better but enjoyable.
Jordan Johnson
It should be good, but the game itself feels. . . off. I just can't get into it.
John Perry
I don't know what was happening behind the scenes, but this felt like cheating almost. In terms of character "interaction" the best parts are him and Trench, and they're these live action well produced exposition dumps. Almost anyone with model was tedious to deal with in my opinion. Maybe Ahti and Dylan being the exceptions but even Ahti while having interesting dialogue still had mediocre at best animation. Dylan was the only one that sticks out at as a memorable 3D character.
Levi Kelly
yeah he cute
goty for me for sure.
Xavier Perry
take your meds schizo
Camden Bennett
it’s bad because the main character doesn’t make me coooommm. play a good game, like nier automata
Kevin Lee
to me it's a very 7/10 experience. Fun, but i expected a lot more.
variety is lacking, and to me it doesn't feel like it had a very big budget. Some of the voice acting was hit and miss too.
gunplay is fun and destruction of the envireonment never gets old though. Story is kind of interesting, but as a whole, the game has barely tried to do anything new.
I love Remedy, I love Max Payne, but even James Mccaffrey wasn't able to turn this game into a GOTY masterpiece.
Henry Reed
No it's bad because...
Environments too sterile and repetitive.
Unimaginative and boring level design.
Repetitive enemy encounters.
Generic enemies.
Terrible checkpoint system.
Terrible camera that will cause you to die especially at bosses.
Horrible disjointed and vague story for the sake of being LE TOO DEEP artsy fartsy "experience" to appeal to the reddit audience.
The ugliest main characters I've ever seen in a video game.
All female characters are ugly.
Forced powerful wyman characters to pander to the tranny era audience.
Tacked on run-of-the-mill rpg/upgrade mechanics.
Regular slowdowns and frame drops at medium settings on my gtx 1070 i7 6700K PC.
Asher Young
my current complaint is this
also while playing I noticed some doors have a clearance pass like level 4 or 5, and you can easily ignore the door and get in anyway
or how some things is built for levitate, but through level destruction and stacking some boxes I got up to places anyway
Makes me wonder if there was retards who saw the door, saw the giant clearance level 5 required and just moved on like an NPC or bot.
Aiden Moore
Classic Remedy game.
Overall presentation, atmosphere, and everything that contributes to the writing is great fun.
Gameplay becomes bland and boring half way into the game due to lack of variety on all fronts.
6.5/10. Would have been 7.5 but Jesse is such an uncharismatic MC compared to Max and Alan.
Blake Carter
common technique in many games these days, rdr2 did it too
Caleb Collins
>common technique
I. DON'T. CARE!
IT's shit! Film grain, meme eye addaption, cromatic shitteration need to be removed and advanced per object motion blur can be left in options
Jeremiah Garcia
Alan Wake and Max Payne saved the story big time.
Joshua Parker
>Jesse is such an uncharismatic MC
this. how could you have based as fuck characters like Trench, Darling, and Ahti but completely flub it on the protagonist?
Henry Edwards
Nier shits all over this in both story and length though. Combat is a matter of taste. OST goes to Nier without question.
Landon King
Female characters come out like shit when your writing is plagued by GUYS IT'S A STRONK FEMALE CHAR direction. Trench and Darling are also good actors and probably improvised shit on their own. All the female characters are garbage. Identical LEADERS roles.
Adrian Kelly
How do Alan wake and max Payne connect to this game? Just Easter eggs?
Cooper Bennett
Basically.
Sebastian Reyes
I'm still baffled by the fact that fucking Tameme wrote the only actually decent female character over the past few years. Shit's hilarious.
Colton Hill
Sam Lake doesn't know how to write chicks.
Benjamin Garcia
I started ignoring side content when they started throwing random fetch quests at me during critical story missions. Like, you’re about to confront the fucking main antagonist, it makes no fucking sense for me to go out of my way to do some laundry work for the janitor. I was enjoying how the side quests felt like obvious things that would be on your way, like the shield and seize missions, or the Anchor and the Fridge ones.
Juan Peterson
It's bad, like Tomb Raider reboot bad.
Jayden Hughes
I wish the main character looked as good as she does on the cover art.
Lucas Long
Alan Wake is canon to it, but is only mentioned as a background event, just another incident for the Bureau. Alan is stuck behind one of the doors in Oceanview Hotel and Casino, one of the ones no one from the Bureau can open.
Jack Gonzalez
Posts gifs. Gifs of DYNAMITE
Levi Lee
Did anyone else get excited whenever they found a projector because it meant Darling? Threshold Kids was also cute
Elijah Richardson
Couldnt see shit because the retard devs buried it under 400 fucking layers of post FX; this game is genuinely fucking HIDEOUS looking and the MC is a super-jawed hank-hillbody
Kevin Jackson
Graphics are fucking garbage, LOL POST FX is not graphics, it's vomit; you literally CANNOT refute this
Carter King
>uh t-this game did it t-too!!!
Fuck yourslef nigger, the mistakes of one dev dont excuse yours
Christopher Bailey
Darling was a treasure but Threshold kids is fucked up.
Logan Gutierrez
fuck off with your shill threads, why cant you pander to us like you pander to trannies? fix the fucking graphics and fix the fucking icebox you have us playing as
Christopher Flores
Her inner monologue is pretty gud. Which should be the default for Remedy game. Interacting with other characters is where it falls apart.
Grayson Richardson
10/10 would fap
Gabriel Lewis
It has some metroidvania elements and IMO the beginning is kinds weak.
Definitely better than Quantum Break.
Ian Perez
if it had an anime art style that stands between mr's art and a yuasa show it'd be goty
sadly it doesn't and the shooting is pretty shallow and weak feeling so it gets a 6/10 worth nothing but a pirate sam lake will find another job even if respawn goes under anyways and most of the og team is gone
Chase Rogers
When will they just make a fucking spiritual successor to Max Payne?
I need more than 2 Max Payne games
Eli Allen
I'm still waiting for a non virus riddled crack to try it. I haven't bought a video game in years.
Michael Long
Gunplay and such was alright. I like how they allowed you to use powers like launch by just ripping concrete off the walls without looking so you didn't have to hunt for props. It's a shame that performance tanked on my machine when the Hiss Elevated started throwing literally everything around, but that's only because otherwise it performed really well on my older rig. A good 7.5/10, aside from Jesse having a dark abyss of a concave ass and a Bogdanoff-level jawline.
Aiden Adams
It's interesting and the environments are cool especially given that you can tear them up and toss bits around so much, and the atmosphere is really nice sometimes. It's got a bit of an identity crisis, though. The named enemies feel out of place with the entire setting and mood of the game, and it can't quite decide what it wants to be gameplay-wise.
I kinda hate the super-abstract void-filled environments and the endless offices get dull too, but it sometimes hits a sweet spot between them that feels almost like BLAME's impossibly huge concrecte-and-steel hellscapes and I wish it'd stay there instead of constantly switching between the extremes.
I'd give it a 7/10, worth picking up on sale at least.
Nicholas Jackson
I also feel like too many of the enemies were just "dude with gun and particle effects" and I really wish more of them had been weirder.
The upgrade system definitely reeks of being tacked-on as well.
Gavin Moore
>They know
Alexander Davis
Mason Moore
Inner monologue should be the default in games. You're inhabiting a role, you should know the thoughts of the character you're playing, devs are just obsessed with trying to be like movies where the audience is the camera.
Mason Reed
ok wtf do I do in the Tomassi fight? The trash mobs distract me every time and I get one shot by his shards.
Ryan Taylor
it's adequate
Zachary Sanchez
>console versions sold out on Amazon
Kayden Carter
>tfw going full retard and taking 2hrs to solve the card puzzle
Liam Cox
>tfw no jessi gf
Samuel Davis
short answer: git gud
long answer: hurling shit at him deals more damage. you’ll have to launch stuff just as he’s about to or else he’ll dodge
think of the mobs as your health pickups
Christopher Powell
oh my god that fucking atrocious motion blur; who the fuck approved this?
Thomas Foster
what the hell? I can't lift forklifts in my game and I'm pretty much fully upgraded. What did I miss?
Jaxon Lewis
You haven't upgraded Lift
Brayden Wright
>I’m pretty much fully upgraded
you sure about that
Isaac Martin
You can mod it away. It is cancer though, no idea why they though this much motion blur is acceptable.
Wyatt Taylor
Can I mod out the chromiatic asseration, the vignette, sharpening, SSAO, SSR , the remaining 70 vasoline filters and color correction aswell? this game makes me want to vomit
Josiah Cook
Can't play because Tim is being a cunt.
Parker Watson
SSAO and SSR are options in the game, I'm pretty sure. I have no idea what sharpening you're moaning about, the game looks soft as fuck.
>chromiatic asseration
Did you want to type "chromatic aberration" but bit off more than you could chew with those fancy-ass words there?
Camden Harris
Only SSAO and SSR are in this game and they can both be turned off. You can use reshade to fuck with the colors if you like. It's the custom engine they're using that gives the game it's look, they're doing a lot of stuff with shadow and light rays which makes everything look fuzzy.
Carson Nguyen
>>chromiatic asseration
i’m gonna start calling it this from now on
Brody Nguyen
I liked the setting and it ran well enough on my potato. Unfortunately, the combat is just not good by any stretch.
7/10, if you like this kind of game buy at $25 or cheaper.
Henry Gray
I tried turning off the SSAO because it makes the hair and face shadows jitter like crazy all the time, but fuck it does a lot for the look of the environment.
Owen Myers
if I wanted to type aberration I would've, but it isnt aberration, it's asseration
Hudson Bell
>use reshade
nigga they're already using reshade with every single box checked and cranked
Nathaniel Flores
can someone explain why I feel like I'm watching gameplay of a fallout 4 mod anytime I see a webm of this game?
Julian Cruz
SO THIS.....
IS THE POWER.....
OF RAYTRACING........
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Lincoln Hill
Eye adaptation is part of the standardised HDR model in most all game engines, and is necessary to represent an internal HDR environment on SDR (8 bit, standard brightness) displays. The only problem with this webm is that the adaptation speed is set too fast.
In , a designer has specified the tonemapping value manually with a trigger to achieve a desired look. This is probably to deal with an edge case.
Grayson Jackson
Keskinkertainen, ihan kiva, tasapaksu/10.
Hudson Jackson
>trying to defend this visual puke
Julian Lewis
this is most likely the optimization technique of the engine, all the levels are divided up into sections where the game will render in higher quality the volumetric lights within that section.
Elijah Bailey
With the settings turned down, some of the physical phenomenon that would otherwise be baked into textures or lightmaps are absent, leaving a flat presentation. FO4 looks like that all the time because it's shit.
Juan Allen
Wow guys Control sure looks great!
Owen Russell
>baked lightmaps
>raytracing
Thank you shill dev for revealing your bullshit
Liam Mitchell
ASSUMING CONTROL
Gavin Phillips
ENEMY IS EVERYWHERE!
Matthew Brooks
I don't know what the fuck you're smoking in this thread the graphics are incredible
Jack Gutierrez
As I said, it's the adaptation speed. Saving lighting info in only 256 gradations was outdated in 2005 with the release of the HL2 Lost Coast demo. Iris simulation is necessary and comes as standard in every game engine, especially nowadays with the advent of physically based rendering, where lighting information is compiled using data transferred directly from real world light sources. How can you have a 17w bulb in a dark room, but open the door and have 1.6 billion nit sun in the same scene, without having the room occupy only 0-5% of the brightness range of the display (and be almost impossible to make anything out)? Answer: simulate the eye's adaption to light, you fucking retard.
Brandon Thomas
INCREDIBLY SHIT, Turn off every filter and show us what the actual in engine graphics look like
Ethan Allen
Read the sentence again, I am saying the opposite to how you interpreted it.
Jose Barnes
>blah blah blah
it looks like fat nigger ass, next
Robert Hill
>giving abilities through side missions
Whose idea was that?
Lucas Richardson
>turn off every engine feature and show what raw shadeless models look like
Are you a /3/ guy or something? Even then, low-poly models in here and material work in this game are damn impressive
Henry Martin
>0 argument
Juan Adams
The lore and world is fun but at the same time their strict adherence to the setting and the lore is what limited the gameplay by a fucking lot.
Thomas Peterson
>that SSR
Ryder Lopez
Blake Moore
Have you played other remedy games? It's a common trope for them to put real actors in fmv in their games when looking at TV. You completely missed the reason for its implementation.
Carter Ross
Sounds more like a 6 based on your description
Benjamin Cox
That guy's actually played by my uncle. No, really. This isn't a "My uncle works at Nintendo" situation.
Glad to see people are finding his performance okay!
Sebastian Cruz
>LOL POST FX is not graphics, it's vomit;
spoken like a real mouthbreathing zoomer. not a single game has stood the test of time visually that built itself on textures and polycount in general above all. games that build themselves an overall strong look especially through lighting and shaders are eternal. Its exactly why reshade can literally revamp the look of a game. youre genuinely fucking retarded and if your autistic toddler logic had anything to do with reality every single one of the best looking games of all time wouldnt exist. stick to your flavor of the month shit that looks good for 10 seconds and suddenly your eyes get used to your epic flat shit with detailed textures and forget that it ever looked special to begin with
Connor Richardson
why are you defending this shit, this is not how eyes work, this is how cameras work.
I dont want to play a video game and get the impression that everything is being recorded on a shitty camera
FUCK, go outside sometime, use your eyes if you think this is how people see the world.
Zachary Gray
Jose James
he's a dev shill and cant control his autism, we've set him off by criticizing his werk
John Barnes
>game goes out of it's way to feel like a movie like literally all other remedy games
>wtf why is it like a movie
Anthony Taylor
The womyin power strong is so fucking annoying in this game.
Main character a female. Okay
Side characters, multiple of them all female. Okay.
The voice in Jesses head, which I though the entire time was the player as a neat 4th wall break and story moment
Nooooo it's another fucking "strong female, a star"
They just fucking shoehorn women into every nook and cranny.
Just such a fucking let down, such a fucking disappointment.
Jeremiah Perez
>it's a movie guys it looks like ass on purpose!
Bentley Wilson
>instead of making something look good, you try to port over IMPREFECTIONS from another medium called movies, which might I add try their best to avoid the imprefections
>but noo muh cinematic shit camera expose effect is what video games need
Jackson Wilson
>*paragraph long autistic counter-rebuttal*
Chase Brooks
>Women bad, man oppressed
Is this condition like retarted feminism, but in reverse?
Luis Turner
did you even read the entire thing?
I was completely fine with a female main protag.
A bit annoying with all the women in every position, but fine....
But the fact that the voice in Jesses head is not you the player, but another strong female, is not only a missed opportunity but going clearly over the line where everything has to be female, even my g.f thinks it's fucking retarded.
Tyler Nguyen
Why does a fictional character's gender concern you so much?
Do you feel like you lack representation?
Landon Hall
how about you read my post and actually reply to what was being said rather then going
Kayden Robinson
I do agree that the MC being a female in Control is a good enough criticism of the game. Because clearly Sam Lake has no fucking idea how to make any of the god damn women in this game interesting or charismatic
Unironically the most entertaining girl in the game is the fucking puppet from Threshold Kids.
Ethan Sanchez
I finally learned Levitate and the game got a whole lot more phone.
Joseph Gomez
Tell your uncle he's too big to play a nerdy scientist.
Jayden Watson
Agree.
Although I have a strong suspicion that Sam Lake himself had nothing to do with most of the in-game dialogue and it was handled by someone else in the writing department.
The whole thing is too uncharacteristic to his style.
I'd wager he settled with general plot direction, the Hiss ramblings and a couple key character's like Dylan or Trench.
Juan Diaz
>Female protagonist
Fucking DROPPED
There I said it. Is that so hard to understand Yea Forums? This is how it has been, and will always be. Don't reply to this post.
Austin Cooper
I was expecting it to be a total shitshow. It surprised me. Also physics looks good
youtu.be
Luke Phillips
wops
Matthew Rodriguez
Why yes I like to stare at the woman's ass when I play video games with female protagonists. How could you tell?
Tyler Bell
Ah.
Still. D Y N A M I T E
John Green
Your uncle is the best actor in the game by far, user. Tell him he did good.
Elijah Morgan
we won't know until the shill threads stop. give it until the end of the month
Kevin Walker
Isaac Bell
this sounds about right
James Foster
Runs at 30 fps/1080p in my i7-7700 and a GTX 1070, wtf?
Xavier Walker
The architectural style of the building feels like a waste. Why call something "The Oldest House" then just make it full of bland steel, glass, and concrete modern design? It should have at least had a 50s feel to it.
Gavin Ortiz
>tfw we'll never get a female charecter that remembers to be a woman every now and then
I sure do love playing the same manly man charecter I've been playing for decades but now with big tits
Tyler Cruz
have you been ilving under a ock for the past decade?
Ryder Flores
Tell him, tell him that he did good, the acting that is
Tyler Cook
>post genuinely shit game
>SEE DIS GAYME DUD IT IT MAKE MINE O K
Luke Wright
>movies, which might I add try their best to avoid the imprefections
Now that's just false. Movies constantly use blurry ass lenses from the '70s to achieve a certain look, cinematographers love lens flares, light spill, volumetric lighting, there's film grain added to nearly every movie and colour grading is more often than not trying to emulate the colors of film stock. You're full of shit. Stop watching shit movies.
Jordan Foster
Why are incels obsessed with women and sex? It's so cringe
Carson Gonzalez
lol got anything to back up that opinion I heavily disagree with?
Jacob Fisher
Yeah and it looks fucking terrible
Caleb Miller
I liked the retro computers sprinkled around the offices, typewriters and hueg floppy drives.
Some modelers probably had a hard-on for retro tech and I can relate.
Asher Williams
yeah, Mona in Max Payne was written just fine and most dialogue in MP and Alan Wake has a lot more character than anything in Control.
Jaxon Hernandez
>Forced powerful wyman characters to pander to the tranny era audience.
Opinion discarded. Can't trust someone who's deprived of sex.
Christopher Morris
Doesn't have to be feminine. Just compare Jesse to Max or Alan. She's like soggy bread compared to those two
Isaac Jones
I just posted a random picture, both games are apparently shit
Matthew Martinez
How is this compared to max payne?
Kayden Parker
they used the same model they used for Payne but put red hair on him, pretty lazy asset reuse honestly
Gavin Thomas
Worse in every way except graphics, but still good.
Shooting mechanics are top-notch but it's all ruined by bullet-spongy enemies.
The guns and powers still do have impact, though.
Level design is on par, but samey.
Asher Baker
Pretty bad. The metroidvania stuff is alright but the combat is completely mindless and only really serves as padding. The visuals are pretty neat but the writing is pretty eh. Its not so much an SCP game as it is a superhero game with an SCP coat of paint.
4/10, made me think of bioshock infinite but better.
Henry Bennett
>It should have at least had a 50s feel to it.
Gabriel Miller
thanks user
Alexander Reyes
I already told 'em that
James Allen
I work with DoPs and freelance as a colorist. Watch any popular film and there's a reason it doesn't look like some youtube vid shot with a DSLR camera.
>pic
Bloom, lens flare, edge lens blur, film grain, exaggerated color grade.
Jayden Myers
Okay, so? it still looks like fucking over-processed garbage
Charles Campbell
your uncle is cute
Colton Bailey
>shit movies
Oh wow, so your defense in shit visuals in game is to use shit movies. Hmm Yes. It's not like both mediums can have retards who don't know what they are doing.
I guess next you will tell me how making 16 camera cuts in a span of 2 seconds is cool, artistic, and how video games need to include that as well
Connor Powell
nice opinion. I was disagreeing with your statement about camera imperfections in films and games.
Isaac Nelson
Not him but user, literally every movie does that shit. I can't think of any major movie that didn't use color grading and tried to emulate film imperfections.
Liam Russell
>lack of powers
>combat loop is pretty much done within the first hour
>only 2 weapons forms at once
>personal mods take too long to unlock and you only get 3

I played for 2 hours and got bored. It's repetitive as hell and the kojima circlejerking is unsufferable.
Isaac Bennett
>All the female characters are garbage.
What was wrong with Emily?
Wyatt Ramirez
Was that the one who had the hots for Darling?
Jacob Young
>kojima circlejerking
What the hell are you talking about, are you on drugs?
Carter Morris
The problem is that the game is made with real time GI in mind (which can be achieved without raytracing, see Cryengine that has been doing it for years). Without raytracing the light doesn't propagate, that's the reason why the game looks so dark, hence the eye adaptation bullshit.
Julian Carter
>Was that the one who had the hots for Darling?
That would be all of us, lad.
Adrian Rogers
what does color grading have to do with film grain, and this shit here
Nicholas Brooks
Lots of stupid blatant references (The fragile boxes with handle with care written of them, and a logo similar to the one in DS. Kojima is also doing voice acting in the game. They also exchanged clothes when they met, see the cringy ''friend of Remedy'' jacket Kojima got.
The game also feels pretentious as fuck, almost as much as death stranding.
Jose Morris
Would be decent if the MC shuts up for once. I understand that they are trying to go with that “she’s talking to the ayy inside of her/you” gimmick but it becomes grating when she’s constantly narrating about everything and how she feels about it. Her dialogue reads like some amateur writer’s work for a character in a creepypasta.
Asher Hernandez
you're one sensitive little sunflower.
Mason Ramirez
>get to look at an ugly old lady's flat ass
oh joy this is totally why i play video games
Carter Evans
The conversation shifted to over all post-processing effects that are applied to games. That shit in the webm is a flaw of the engine/mistake of the developers and should not be there, no one is defending that.
Joshua Howard
Brody Rogers
>no one is defending that.
people in these threads have.
Grayson Bennett
It has the same problem as every other Remedy game. Too many generic combat encounters that go on for too long. It seems like they want to do more story/setpiece focused games, but they bog them down with shitty combat sections with the same enemies over and over again.
Christopher Bennett
They're conflating the generic HDR, which is quite subtle, and this compartmentalized color grade where there's a different light exposure and color mood for different parts of the level and the transition is really poorly done.
Nolan Anderson
No, that was mold lady in the pit
Jaxon Brown
Do you unlock a way to go into those mold rooms that kill you later on or is there something I missed?
Carter Watson
If you like the atmosphere of this game, play Naissancee. It is much more interesting because you actually explore the weird mind-fucking architecture instead of it serving as a backdrop for generic AAA gameplay.
Camden Lee
Colton Moore
Forgot the pic
Luis Sanchez
After you get levitate you float down that elevator shaft at the bottom of central research
You get immunity down there
Joseph Powell
Pretty much this. First half is great. Throws you a new enemy type every now and then and the pacing is good. Second half is just chore simulator and you're spamming throw at everything because it's way too strong.
The last few missions are a joke and just wave based battles. There isn't even a boss battle for the last mission. I'm pretty fucking let down. Really sucks how great this game starts and how bad it ends. It just kept dragging on and suddenly there's extra plot everywhere in the last two missions they just squeezed in.
Darling singing almost saved it though. But that dude is swole as fuck and it really takes away from the fact he's supposed to be a labrat.
Alexander Ross
When the mobs appear keep Tomassi on the other side of the big rock in the center and kill the mobs. The vanishing one doesnt respawn and is an important mob to kill.
Sebastian Watson
You don't need levitate to go down there if you can carefully do platforming segments.
Elijah Watson
Ashtray Maze
Darling/Trench/Ahti
Anchor/Fridge/esseJ
Threshold Kids
Oceanview Motel
There. I just listed the objectively best parts of the game.
Luke Perez
Like Halo?
Evan Brooks
>when you see Darling without his clothes on in one of his last videos and see he's fucking jacked
not a bad thing at all

It’s kino
Angel Russell
>got that on my first time entering research using 1% brain power
I imagine a lot of tards and journalists only got it after they get levitate or something.
Tyler White
Should I shoot all cameras?
Charles Collins
They respawn when you return to the area, so no.
Carson Torres
Yeah I was goofing off and climbed out one of the windows on a higher floor and fell onto it and broke my fall using evade. I probably would have missed it otherwise until that post-game mission where you have to find all the mold hosts.
Leo Phillips
Literally just uninstalled it maybe 2-3 minutes ago. So fucking lame. Could not force myself to play through it any longer.
John Thomas
that's pretty based
Jack Cook
>Ashtray Maze
i'm lost here

Okay, I thought they are some sort of secret collectable, since they follow your movements.
Ryan Adams
I never seen so much hair splitting Yea Forums has done as with this game. It's hilarious. It must be great, just by that standard. They have to come up with faux outrage like shit related to make it appear as even remotely "bad".
Imagine losing sleep over this. My advice? Kill yourself.
Gavin Gutierrez
If you don't have the headphones yet you can't get through
Connor Long
If you're asking how to traverse it then just play onward, you go through it in a story mission.

It's like they took the Anderson Farm from Alan Wake and supercharged it, fucking hype.
Brody Taylor
Looks fun but the protagonist seems boring as fuck.
Gabriel Evans
Damned fun.
I've been wanting a Government Sanctioned Spooky Shit game for YEARS.
Fucking FINALLY
Gabriel Hughes
I'm not sure you actually played the game, friend. One of the first things that happens is you get TK
William Carter
I heartily agree about the world and setting.
Grayson Evans
>only complaint is that, for a metroidvania, its pretty short
Aren't most metroidvanias like sub 6 hours long
Joshua Ortiz
Your uncle is Alan Wake?
Jacob Campbell
wew this game
Lincoln Hill
How can they fuck up the anti-aliasing so bad in this? Millions of dollars in graphics, they have TAA and MSAA and the environments looks smooth as fuck but then the hair, which is in the center of the screen at all times, looks like some low resolution TV static bullshit. What the hell? It's almost as bad as FFXV.
Jeremiah Reed
Trash, runs like shit on most PCs and runs like garbage on both PS4 Pro and Xbone X, only Resetera likes this game.
Gabriel Hughes
Because what the fuck else voice your supposed to hear when its her story and her reacting to her situation? What is the gamer voice you're imagining you're supposed to hear?
Samuel Baker
I'm going to cry.. I'm so happy for all of you not shitting on women and just talking about the game
Jonathan Jackson
NOT a female voice with a name. An entity would have been just fine.
Colton Russell
I really hate how they shoehorn in women every chance they get. Jesse is fine. The research female...okay
But a security commander being a black woman?
A cosmic powerful entity being a female?
Over the line and it's just painfully obvious at this point.
Juan Cooper
7/10
Ian Garcia
cry more s oyboy
Josiah Morales
It's really not that bad
Mason Baker
>meet random soliders through out the compount
>it's always a female solider
Really, it's not obvious to you?
Josiah Sullivan
Yeah. He voiced him.
Carter Garcia
Many of the impressive graphics in this game are not post processing though. The assets, effects, etc. are really well done, and make the combat look really incredible which is where a game should shine, in the gameplay. I would agree that animation quality, and some of the faces look a bit ehh, but when actually playing the game it’s stunning, and not from boring post processing constantly applied to the image.
Hudson Robinson
Uses an SCP-type setting, but fails to do much of anything interesting with it. Weapon and powers are egregious offenders. Your special multi-gun doesn't really do anything normal guns can't. The 2 weapon mode switch is especially egregious and makes me wonder if normal guns were originally used and they never developed a weapon change system for the service weapon after it was made. Your special power is simply telekinesis and its different flavors. However it's just telekinesis and many games have already done it, many times as one of the more basic abilities/powers.
Threats are very meh considering the setting. You're basically having generic gun fights for most of the game with enemies that aren't really much different from normal people shooting you. There's nothing really interesting and you'll start wishing you could skip the combat. They needed to go ham with boss fights, but it's like the combat and the setting were designed entirely separately except for a few things. There's other things to comment on, but the meat/gameplay of the game just isn't really interesting or fun. A lot of glitz and glamour, but no substance basically.

>not seeing the power play in having all of the disposable guards be women
Gavin Gomez
I realize you think you are talking with some sweaty incels that want to dominate women, but no, I do not find
>not seeing the power play in having all of the disposable guards be women
entertaining, or immersion building.
Christopher Jenkins
They should have looked at Saints Row 4's power and gun variety and went from there.
Jaxson Gomez
>I do not find not seeing ... be women entertaining, or immersion building.
Ahh, so you DO find seeing the power play both entertaining and immersion building.
Luke Young
lmao the state of Yea Forums
Wyatt Green
>know exactly what I mean
>trys to pretend to be retarded to act like I mean the opposite of what I meant
nice troll. but anybody can clearly see that it's I dont see any merit to what you said followed by a quote of what you said.
fag.
Angel Diaz
Grammatically, that is exactly what you meant.
Angel Hughes
>if I splice my quote
>and what you were saying together
>remove the context
>ignore all logic
>remove my intuition of what other people are saying
>then I can finally twist the narrative to what I want
just fuck off.
Sebastian Cooper
>If I ... remove the context ... remove my intuition ... twist the narrative; ... I want [to] ... just fuck off
Buddy, you seem very disturbed.
Joshua Wood
They even had the gall to have the MC say "That was awesome!!!" after the ashtray maze. Maze itself was ok, song was garbage. Nothing nearly as good as the Airport Shooting Spree song from MP3 (which was a garbo game btw)
Robert Reyes
I really liked it at first, but by the time you reach Dylan the gameplay feels like it has stopped progressing and you realize the rest of the game is going to be more of the same over and over again. I could deal with that if what was there were better, but it's not satisfying. Enemies aren't satisfying to kill, guns and powers aren't satisfying to use, the missions are boring and repetitive.
I've dropped it.
Christian Perry
>What's the Yea Forumserdict?
it's a cool singleplayer game with great atmosphere, but there is a lot things that could be improved or expanded upon if they ever do a sequel, like more areas to explore and more secrets
overall, I enjoyed it but there is little to no replay value for me other than doing some of those side quests to get the achievements
Brody Hernandez
You're almost at the end. No reason not to finish it
>They needed to go ham with boss fights
There were boss fights? (kidding) Bosses were just normal enemies with bigger health pools
Definitely too many females. I'm not usually bothered by that stuff, but it felt hamfisted. The males were mostly shorter and weaker than than the MC as well
Caleb Parker
I prefer the waves of enemies to boss fights. It's a lot more fun and empowering to be able to use all your powers in a chaotic battlefield vs. kiting some single target with 5 million hit points for 10 minutes.
Adrian Gomez
I couldn't help comparing this game to TEW. The motel in Control reminded me of the mental hospital in TEW. TEW was just so much more imaginative. Control was a pretty game, very polished in many aspects, but it felt so soulless.
Jace Richardson
>yfw this moment happened
Lincoln Young
would be better as an FPS.
Ryan Gutierrez
anyone found a way to unlock the office worker outfit?
Austin Sanders
>kiting some single target with 5 million hit points for 10 minutes.
Hell no, extremely boring. I would have preferred more environmental damage to bosses, kind of like when you trap the cloud entity. Basically puzzle type bossfights, or possibly Dead Space type bossfights where you destroy parts of the boss
Luis Bell
I genuinely don't want to finish it, I haven't felt that way about a game in a while. I started playing Tomb Raider 2013 afterward and it's amazing how well fleshed out and polished it feels in comparison. Voice overs on journals your find, objects you can find and investigate, more dynamic gunfights. Control feels so weak in comparison.
Elijah Morales
you can unlock that just playing through the game after that mission of her wearing it
Jonathan Diaz
Elijah Allen
Everything is good until the non ending where nothing gets explained regarding Hedron or the Hiss.
Also
>we never get to see what really happened in Ordinary, not even a flashback
>never go to the Hiss dimension
>non-reveal of Hedron
>Oceanview hotel
>only two thresholds, mold and space quarry
>never find out what Dr.Darling locked himself in with
>Marshall disappears
Of course this could all be elaborated on in a DLC,
Gameplay is unusually good tho, a matured version of what they were doing with Quantum break.
Lincoln Foster
for you
Parker Nguyen
Decent game marred by shitty AAA decisions like pointless crafting and quests. Wait for a sale.
Juan Powell
You can mod out motion blur and there's also an FoV mod. I don't know what sharpness you're talking about, the game is almost blurry at times. but if anyone has an Nvidia card with the latest drivers you can use a sharpening filter to not make it look so soft.
Jack Young
This, after the third gunfight i was already sick of it and it never got any better.
Jonathan Hughes
Solid 8/10, the only people screeching about it are incels and Valve_drones.
Xavier Butler
Fuck, when will Sam make a good game again. I like him too much to wish him to fail
Carter Phillips
When he stops making AAA games.
Easton Reed
How the fuck am I supposed to fight those invisible enemies?
The room goes all red and I can't see shit all while it's fucking screaming at me.
Then I die in like 2 hits by it.
Fuck.
