I dislike the real time aspect because you either let the timer run and don't have time to read any of the long lore snippets each event has, or you pause constantly and when you unpause you just stare at the screen for several dozen seconds before another thing pops up that has new text and pause again. The game is also very fucking grindy with you repeating same mundane tasks over and over again in each playthrough: for example you ideally want to be making money almost all the time, so in practice you have to drag a certain "job" card into "work" slot, wait about a minute or so, drag another status card there so your character puts in extra effort and actually gets paid, rinse and repeat throughout your entire run.

I really wish the game allowed the player to place custom magnet slots or create macros so the relevant card that you wanted to constantly repeat automatically got pulled, rather than having to do the same menial shit several hundred times between all the actually interesting stuff. Certain repeating status cards already do that so it's weird why they don't let the player utilize the same mechanic.
