MC's entire philosophy is built around classic libertarianism. After he gets betrayed in the beginning he requires that every interaction be an exchange of value in either material or favour according to the free market principle.
He goes out and buys a slave and their entire relationship is an insanely creepy depiction of trickle down economics. Rapthalia is happy because now that she's a slave she gets to enjoy food and some small luxury by providing much more value to her master.
Whenever the other heroes do something heroic "for free" it conveniently results in a massive catastrophe and the anime paints this as a natural result of "free work" rather than just a contrived series of fuckups.

If you honestly want to discuss this and aren't just being confrontational for the sake of it I'm willing to write more on the topic.

IIRC it's mostly due to overseas. China supposedly loved it.
In Japan novel sales didn't particularly increase due to the anime, which is odd.

To continue on that creepy depiction of trickle-down economics Rapthalia only gets to grow up physically and mentally by working for Naotsumi. The fact that she later wilfully submits to it is the anime basically telling you to be a good little slave and work for the people who own the capital because your alternative is starvation and rotting away.
Naotsumi is the archetypal capitalist here, he always demands some kind of return on investment whenever he does any sort of "heroism". Now it would be easy to dismiss this as just pointless edge if not for the characters connecting him to the merchant guild. The anime has a very clearly favourable view of his extortionate tactics. He can make super ultra healing juice as part of his shield skill tree. This costs him almost nothing provided he has a regular healing potion, it doesn't exert him and doesn't require any materials. But because he has a monopoly he charges "market" prices for this healing and only ever lets up when people literally don't have anything to pay him with, then he "lets" them get away with taking it on credit and paying him in rates or at a later date. And this isn't something he came up with or developed a formula for, this ability is just given to him due to his nature as the shield hero. The anime glorifies him for being smart and resourceful as he blatantly exploits something given to him by his making for profit.

It doesn't, But Raphtalia is one of those characters that is as designed to be "the waifu" as it gets, almost everything about her character revolves around her being obsessed with the self-insert

No you retard, the "gimmick" is marginalization and injustice, he is unfairly treated as the worst hero and not given a chance because of preconceptions about the shield, so he loses trust in society and has to crawl to the top against all odds.
The overall writing has a lot of problems and inconsistencies, but the concept itself is interesting and the reason why SJWs and trannies hate it so much is because, in the beginning, it nails the tools of marginalization that they themselves love to use, to the point the corrupt petty assholes end up looking like a mirror image of SJWs.
Overall it's a great idea with a good beginning that gets gradually undermined by shitty writing as the conflics that make it interesting get solved and more errors and inconsistencies start piling up.

Continuing along this train of thought many of Naotsumi's characteristics can be "excused" as just the generic gary stu self-insert but the show's insane insistence on him as a strong independent entrepreneur is extremely randyan. Whether this comes from genuine libertarian ideals or just plain incompetent writing doesn't matter, the words on the page/screen are the same.
Compare this with a show that has an unambigously libertarian MC that even calls himself as such, Youjo Senki/The Saga of Tanya the Evil. While showcasing the effectiveness of those ideals it also showcases their shortcomings and the writing doesn't push an agenda on you. The anime does paint Tanya/HR-kun as more generically socipathic but the manga and LNs provide a more balanced view and his modern capitalist views cause "anime misunderstandings" which get them into trouble repeatedly. He constantly hits trouble because he assumes everyone else is going to act like a libertarian and most people just don't, especially in the era of romanticised warfare. Again, the intention doesn't matter here, what's on the actual page does.

The shield protects demi-humans (blacks) but it's controversial among the human upper classes (whites). The humans are constantly trying to smear and sabotage the only advocate for demi-humans among the four heroes.

Maybe that was the original idea, but the went went out the window as soon as he got his special shield powerups and became the legendary merchant with two kemono bitches who want to fuck him. And that's pretty fucking fast.

The false rape accusation was because the princess was part of that shield-hating religion and she's a pathological liar. That was caused by the preconceptions about the shield, right from the beginning Naofumi was being treated worse than the other heroes because of the shield alone. The false accusation escalated things massively, but was nog the root of the prejudice.
