Lots of good defensive option porn in the game. I love that every Legion has a different perfect call attack with a different purpose.

well you totally showed me op Astral Chain has an image where they are posing for something shows how good the gameplay is
>b-but my imgur link
fuck you post your webm if you want to show that good gameplay

>Beginning of the game
>Hit all perfect dodges and counters in early fights
>'case closed: C'
>middle of game
>Get hit dozens of time, refill health twice, but spamming special attacks, sync attacks, weapon and legion swapping
>S+ every time

just got done playing okami
excellent

It's a 5/10

Pros:
>combat is very fun when things aren't getting fucked by the camera, it's a bit simple and also easy but that never really bothered me
>generally decent graphics, atmosphere, and music
>boss fights and setpieces are a typical bombastic platinum affair, which is obviously a very good thing
>questing and exploration segments can be decently fun when you're doing a unique quest with either a one-off game mechanic or goofy story
>for a game of its size, (much longer than most Platinum games excluding Automata) its pretty bug-free and polished in terms of tech
>lots of secrets and shit, hidden doors that lead to gangsters hideouts, collectibles, secret boss, and lots of little details like people saying certain things when you take a picture of them in an awkward scenario
>police headquarters you visit between levels is comfy
>File 12 has a bunch of combat scenarios with exclusive enemies which is cool

Cons:
>like I said earlier, shit camera and a little on the simple/easy size with very few combos to chose from
>character customization is severely lacking, only 4 outfits and only one of them lets you customize the colors
>too many fucking astral plane puzzles
>lifeless characterization, no memorable personalities aside from Lappy and maybe kind of Jena Anderson
>story is pretty terrible, braindead anime tropes throughout, characters have story threads which are completely dropped by the end
>30 FPS with frequent drops, no anti-aliasing, sub-1080p, although art direction is outstanding which kind of makes up for this
>certain exploration zones take wayyyyyyy too fucking long and have boring, shit quests
>game is too easy overall except for last boss who is several times harder than any other boss in the game, feels like spend the entire game fighting a bunch of asylum demons/capra demon-tier enemies and then go straight to fighting gael

post hand with timestamp

At least you basically always get an S+ if you don't get hit.

It's a far cry from Bayonetta where getting hit at all means no pure plat/S+ equivalent. It's fully possible to get S+ with both sloppy strikes and faulty footwork on every fight

Yes, that is a really bizarre aspect. It's a bit like DMC5's also flawed ranking system, all it asks for is variety.

You are what you hate. Get lost.

>Taura finally develops a defense system were you can’t spam it endlessly
Good for him. I wasn’t sure he was capable of it after MGR and Automata.

I was worried about that for a bit. Before I played the game I thought sync attacks were all going to be invincible. So it was great to see that they aren't and that there are lots of defensive options. Now he just needs one more game to learn how scoring system should work.

What was spammable in MGR? Parry?

Parry. Because it was contextual, you could spam toward+X and the game would allow Raiden to attack while automatically making him block if an enemy hitbox was incoming.

Rent free

Astral chain is garbage, at least until the inevitable ps4 chads and pc version where everyone will be fixed

Okay that's fair. The whole game was overly reliant on perfect parrying though, so I imagine that wouldn't help too much.

Just give me a damn movelist!

>shal
What's the policy on civilian weapon ownership on the ark

there is one. I forget where though

>replies to snoy shitpost
>rent free
That’s not how it works faggot

Not really. In fact it was a go-to for me when in a tight spot; usually mashing like that triggers a lot of the rising upper attack, too, which is helpful since it can proc Zandatsu prompts.

Honestly it was way too effective a strategy until the Sam DLC, where it promptly stops working because Sam has a much longer recovery on his block animation and no toward-toward light attack of value.

Does anyone know where that case is supposed to be? I spend over an hour exploring the entire town region and even the bits in the Astral Plain that you enter during the other case. Found absolutely nothing. I even ran against all the walls because I thought it might be a hidden room again.

pretty sure it's one of the most varied and interesting combat systems in a very long time

perfect calls are particularly satisfying to pull off

I feel like I haven’t seen any combo showcase vids at all.

>it's literally just a bunch of little discs that have been anchored to the leg bone and clip through the asscheek when the leg bends back
This is hilarious. What a great idea.

it's been 4 days

The game is still so new that the only thing you find online is either someone's first playthrough or clickbait guides that tell you nothing beyond "Attack enemies to win", made by someone just to get early google search results.

Check your map carefully, some of the cases can be hidden behind something like using Beast to pull up an enemy.

Do you know how many Day 1 combo videos DMC5 got? Granted it’s a lot easier to make them on PC than on a console so more people can do it, but still.

user please, I already ran around the entire map with the dog out and do you seriously think I would not look at the map while spending an hour searching for it. Try finding it yourself and I will guarantee you that you won't find anything.

YES

Clipping out the ass.
Literally.

I think people keep trying their hardest to force this game into the same catagory as Bayonetta, for fuck sake the attack button is on the trigger

there's 4 control configs, with one mapping attack to Y and parry to a right shoulder where are you going with this

Looks like it's a link to a tutorial of dodging mechanics featuring numerous webms with explanatory text.

You can put it on the face buttons, though.
Although none of the controller layouts they offer are my favorite.

Literally the Dorf Fortress of action games, snoys are seething that all they have is a DMC rehash and a movie God of War game.

you can stop posting this

>yet another circlejerk thread
Die

>30 fps
>can't jump
>some dumbfuck defends this piece of shit
YIKES

Based and lappypilled

DMCV also plays extremely similarly to 3 and 4 so instead of learning a whole new system it was more about figuring out what changes were made. (There was also a prerelease demo lol.)

Not to mention that Astral Chain, like most of Platinum's games outside of Bayonetta, is much more about spatial awareness, positioning, and reactive play than cuh-rayyy-zeee combos. DMC enemies are largely punching bags and the focus is on offense and juggling, whereas most of Platinum's games are much more defensively focused. Look at the ridiculous number of defensive options in the OP.

When you do a finisher the blue glow that gives you a chance to get more points is determined by weapon type, using the gun will almost never allow for it but the using the heavy weapon will make it take longer for the command to show up, honestly its mainly there for healing and if you aren't confident that you got an S+ rank and need a boost.

>whole new system
>another rehashed bayonetta dodge offset game
WOW

You do know this is a first party Nintendo game right?

Attached: 1563766625223.jpg (1279x720, 61K)

Does the need for different moves mean i will need to call in other Legions or is it just referring to using a variety of commands?

It kinda feels to me like the cop parts and action parts should be shorter and change more frequentky, but i think that would be hard to achieve

Should I read Zetman since the designer for this game is the one that made Zetman? I have read Zetman several years ago but I really did not remember much.

>now only missing that single case in File 09 to get all S+ ranks
>it's absolutely impossible to find and there is no info about it online at all

I find it hard to believe that absolutely no one has found that case at all.

is this copy pasted automata combat?

>Want to gush about this game because I'm having a fucking blast every second of the way
>Can't discuss it for fear of spoilers since I'm only on File 04

I don't even think it is I just hate these kinds of threads

I don't have a switch, but I can tell you're full of shit based on a few fact I know from real sources.

I don't know where you're getting this "what the game is about" shit, but from what I can understand from S+ in the scoring system the combat is about spamming skills and sync attacks.

Why is Dodge so scuffed? If every attack can be cancelled on every frame, then there's no reason for the game to ignore Dodge inputs while attack is being pressed.

this.
They also have different types of 360 attacks and pause-attacks, that create different set ups

This is arguably my biggest issue and I'd love to see them patch it so that fuck ups are more penalized, at least in Plat Ultimate difficulty

I'm trying to save fucking money and now this is out and blaphemous is coming out soon fucking hell.

I agree except sloppy strikes is a retarded penalty given how shit tracking is, the fact that it outright punishes playing the game like Bayonetta, and how retarded is is that all attacks have tons of move assist and phase through enemies because apparently chimeras need iframes on their sidesteps and recovery

>the fact that it outright punishes playing the game like Bayonetta
I think that's fine but it definitely needs to be mroe explicit what it's judging
On the whole, all the point-sources for rank could do with a little description about how they're calculated and what they mean

You have no idea what you're talking about, seething faggot.
