also the second game was better

why does this game (HM 1) crash every 30 minutes i play on steam? the game just freezes and i can't do anything but the music keeps playing. is there a known fix?

Try turning off your overlay. Worked for some people on the game's steam forum.
Doubt it will get any cheaper, user.

I like the fat pig guy in 2.

Gameplay-wise, Jake is probably the most fun character to play as in Hotline Miami 2.
>jake mask solves dying/losing a combo due to picking the wrong weapon and provides another way to get fast kills
>irvin mask is somewhat weaker but still pretty interchangeable with the henchman's silencer start
>dallas mask is a direct upgrade of tony/the son's killing fists without the retarded dog executions, plus a nunchaku rush
Shame he didn't have enough story to warrant more levels, although i think the level editor has already solved that. Lethal throws make even the shittiest levels more fun to play.

What's Richards motive? My headcannon is that he's the leader of purgatory (like god with heaven and devil with hell)

I believe that Detective Manny Pardo is the greatest Hotline Miami character of all time and if you disagree you are obviously a brainwashed Jacket Jackoff. Jacket isn't even that good of a killer, he has already been outdone by the mysterious and enigmatic shadow killer, The Miami Mutilator. Sound scary? Well, it's a good thing the master detective Manny Pardo is right on the case. However... this may be too much... even for a man like him.

Richard’s motives remain a mystery, since the lack of explanation for Richard/Rasmus/Don Juan was on purpose to keep things up for interpretation.

For me, Richard is a manifestation of acceptance. Where as Rasmus was paranoia and Don Juan was empathy.

I thought he was supposed to be the manifestation of people's conscience, or some sort of physical embodiment of the sense that they are making a mistake. That's why whenever he shows up its generally to warn people or question what they're doing, and why he never appears to characters like Jake or Pardo. Neither of them really have a conscience and fully believe in whatever they are charging headlong into. Its also why Richard can't understand Pardo at the table sequence; he's just a fucking psychopath with no sense of right or wrong who will do anything to get what he wants.
