the problem isnt how the sword characters play, its the fact that people don't deem them interesting enough characters, probably mostly from a design & series recognition standpoint, to justify that many fire emblem characters in the west.
americans havent had much exposure to the franchise at all, most normies don't even know ike or marth are, so when a literally who corrin is added to the game instead of a hypothetically more based pick (and there are many) it pisses people off.

I'm not supportive of FE's lazy approach to protagonists. They really need to move away from Marth. Akuma and Dan might play alike, but nobody is going to confuse them for being the same character.

Eh, there's rarely more than 2 kyos on the same roster save for dream matches. It's nowhere near as egregious than street fighter.
Also, it's thanks to "kyo clones" that we have the best character on KoF: Shingo.
