We all know about No More Heroes, Killer 7 and Lollipop Chainsaw, but what about these 2 games? It seems like they weren't very popular, what does Yea Forums think about them?
THE ''OTHER'' GRASSHOPPER GAMES

killer is dead is more prominent here than lollipop chainsaw
played both.
damned is a typical 6/10 shooter. its worth 5 dollars. the pacing is garbage. you are forced to play some really shitty retro games. it however has some interesting levels.
killer is dead was total garbage as action. shoddy stylish action that is far from games like dmc, ninja gaiden. enemies are stupid and boss battles are boring as hell. girls are cute but theres nothing else to see.
Shadows was pretty cool. The humor was shit but the final boss was cool
Do you like it?
don't know never played it, I just know it gets discussed here more
Killer is Dead had the most kino endboss theme, especially during the slowdowns
Damned has titties
Shadows of the Damned was supposed to be a cool psychological thriller with Yamaoka working on the soundtrack, but time grew short so they had to cobble together this janky grindhouse thing. It's alright for what it is.
Both are fun games but neither are good.
If that makes sense.
with visible nips?
It's just a remix of a classical tune though
A pretty good remix
I enjoyed Killer is Dead & Shadows, I've yet to play Lollipop
Yes. You even walk on them
Bitch I'm no fool I know of Symphony 9
I've seen One Piece
time to fire up the old 360 and snatch a copy
Killer is Dead was a perfectly fine game with some good gameplay ideas and striking striking visuals that are actually some of my all-time favorites, but I sold it and all my other Grasshopper games in anger when nmh:hp turned out to be fucking terrible. How that game launched a successful franchise is beyond me.
That was the PS3 port, right? I heard the Wii version was way better from quite a lot of other people.
Now, the true Suda classics are in his early work. The Silver Case, Flower, Sun, and Rain, and The 25th Ward are not only some of the best Adventure games, but some of the best games of all time. Travis Strikes Again was amazing, too.
Shadows of the Damned was about 3 months of polish away from being a goddamn masterpiece, needed a NG+ and some of the areas felt short as fuck.
KiD tried to be a neat action game but there were some serious problems with the combat pacing and perfect blocks were inconsistent as fuck. Flirt mode or whatever it was called was also absolutely useless.
Killer is dead is fun. Never really got into SOTD.
I can't imagine how much better it could be unless all grinding disappears and Travis never runs out of batteries, although the real buzzkill was Shinobu. It's bad enough that she has an instant-kill attack that really doesn't look all that different from her regular attacks, but she also doesn't die. Like ever. I wailed on her for minutes on end, repeatedly throwing her and braining her with my glow stick AFTER her health bar had been very clearly and completely depleted and she wouldn't go to sleep.
Can i wake up Aniki doing this?
They're both solid if not just for aesthetics. Shadows of the Damned can be kind of insufferable with the weak humor, but it has some excellent, bizarre novelty stages. Killer Is Dead is just a stylish hack and slash with some ridiculous waifu mini games (admittedly, the girls are smoking hot). Both are better than Lollipop Chainsaw.
Loved Shadows, liked KiD. Shadows happens to be a personal favorite and I bought the uncensored Japanese version for that cover. It's a shame how it all turned out though. THe things that might've been.

Killer is Dead is good but Shadows of the Damned is an EA game and absolutely atrocious.
>Mikami worked on Shadow of the Damned
I liked it. Aside from that 2D shooter chapter, that sucked.
>NMH:HP
>launched a successful franchise
>successful
There are so many things wrong in this post, I don't know where to start.
Played and 100%'d both. They're both... fine. Fine games.
Visually striking, nice characters, neat ideas. Pacing is poorly handled, obvious budget cuts, and needed much, much more time paid to minute gameplay handling and enemy actions. They don't leave much of a lasting impression, but they're never fleshed out enough to give you the depth you want.
They're 6/10s, but the nice sort of 6/10s that you could see actually recommending to someone, not the sort of 6/10 that's just vapid and functional.
I paid full price for Killer is Dead and enjoyed it. I wish there was more to it, since the backstory and world are pretty interesting. But Suda is never one to let story get in the way of video games.
There is a manga called Kurayami Dance thats supposed to be based on the a draft of Shadows of the Damned
From the description:
>KURAYAMI DANCE/Dance in the Dark is a manga based on the original draft for Shadows of the Damned, which was a loose adaptation of Kafka’s The Castle.
>Undertaker by day, biker by night, Kaido Wataru dreams of one day riding at an unsurpassed speed. But the moment he finally reaches 300 kmh, a terrible accident sends him into a 3-year coma. When Wataru awakes, he finds that the Japan he once knew is long gone. Now followed by an otherworldly creature and equipped with a mysterious transplanted eye, Wataru embarks on his very own road movie...
Killer Is Dead is a cool game
I really liked Michigan: Report From Hell.
the logo is cool
I liked both but they're very flawed. Shadows of the Damned has my favorite soundtrack by Yamaoka so I have a really soft spot for it.
I never played Shadows of the Damned, but Killer is Dead was great.
I actually got my LE copy signed by Mondo's English VA(Patrick Seitz).
I only got to play a few hours of Killer is Dead. It was pretty alright, I should get back at it.
Recently played The Silver Case.
Pretty great.
Shadows has some great scares. Gameplay-wise it also refines the shooting of Killer7.
I have a soft spot for Killer is Dead because it's kind of the weird Suda51 shit I'm into without the kind of pleb pandering of the NMH games (not that they're bad). I'm also convinced it's related to Killer7 on thematic and storytelling levels so fap
Killer is Dead has absolutely incredible presentation and the combat system itself is solid. It's more of a 3D beat 'em up than a combo heavy crazy game, but it's fun to play and controls well. That said, the pacing for the game is fucking atrocious. It's nothing I think you'll notice on your first playthrough, but replaying the game quickly becomes a chore when you're -constantly- interrupted by phone calls and minor cutscenes. The Yakuza boss honestly just sucks because all the frantic energy goes out the window the moment it's interrupted twice by cutscenes, splitting it into three segments instead of just having in-game phase shifts. On top of that, the plot itself is lacking. It's very style-over-substance, which is ironic given that Suda51 games seem like that at a glance. KiD just feels like there's a bunch of pieces missing to the game's hinted themes.
I wonder what Shadows of the Damned would have been like without all the meddling.
Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day's cutscenes were a fucking ride, shame it was just a platformer.
