How come non of the later games in the series come close to pic related combat wise?
How come non of the later games in the series come close to pic related combat wise?
Other urls found in this thread:
Because Tokyo team got split up and Osaka team was given the task to make the combat for every other game and as you can see osaka team sucks
The last one to be truly complete.
The other non numbered entries just felt like filler and 3 was 70% filler, 20% sequel bait and 10% closure.
Different philosophies, experience, console capabilities, budgets and development times I would say. I still haven't played past BBS yet though I've beat the three stories but that game feels very superficial in comparison and is filled with things that it amazes me no one caught before release.
3 is funner
>How come non of the later games in the series come close to pic related combat wise?
The only contender is KH3. That's not many games.
The others don't count, they're handheld games. They just cannot compete.
too much nonsense that isnt needed
different teams, the other shit was made with mobile in mind
This is the biggest problem, the second is that the longer Nomura is on a project the bigger his head becomes and his hack power goes through the roof.
I wouldn't call what happened in 3 "closure", that implies it was in any way satisfying.
DDD>3>BBS>2>1>COM
Different, inexperienced team. Studio started to hurt because of hd/engine development bullshit. Nomura being granted an unwarranted auteur status. Combat director moved on to working on the Dissidia games and has had no involvement with the series since II.
>it gets good after you finish the game
okay fag
Birth by sleep had best combat, fite me faggots.
>lel spam mines and mega flare
from 358/2 to DDD - the shitty Command Deck system
3 - different team
I'm not gonna beat the mentally disabled, what the fuck do you take me for?
What's the tokyo team doing now?
you know
Let's all pretend it all ended with KH2
Awesome
The amount of filler in 3 was insulting, but let's not pretend that 2 didn't have it's problems with filler either.
In 2, everything between the first Hollow Bastion visit and the first Space Paranoids visit is filler.
What have they worked on besides KH2?
they were split between psp dissidia, ffxiii and ffxv
the lead combat designer was on dissidia
>Xaldin fucking with Beast
>Demyx stealing the Olympus stone and Pete working with Hades
>Disney Castle and stopping Maleficent
>Pete working with Scar
Not everything was filler.
oh and he was also on ffxv until he left with nomura/nojima and the gang to work on ffviir
I could, but the post started getting extremely long so I'll just ask why you'd ever think that and cite the
>overly long finish attack minigames that can't be cancelled
that was one of my many points along with the lack of synergy, fluidity, bad boss design and balance.
Tabata can eat shit forever for neutering XV's combat.
>>Pete working with Scar
That was 100% filler, it's optional even
Stopping the bad guy's schemes isn't filler. With that logic Olympus in 1 is filler because taking out Hades is optional.
Sorry user. It's extremely frowned to fight retards where I live.
2s combat is literally just mashing with the occasional block. It's not that it's better than any other game in the series, it's that it has the most nostalgiafags
/thread
You described one, not two.
Did you mean 3?
Tokyo team from 2005 doesn't exist anymore. Anyone claiming otherwise is delusional.
So ....
It seems they ALSO suck balls.
If you suck, and that will only just get you by on Normal and below.
Its combat is just as mediocre as the other games in the series, it has the most autists that are fans of it though so they tout it as some masterpiece when in reality its combat has nothing to write home about.
youtube.com
It has better combat.
Wrong. Reprisal staggers are random.
Honestly even on Crit 2 isn't that challenging apart from the super bosses. The combat doesn't really get an opportunity to shine until the post game.
Explain.
By that logic none of the kh3 worlds are filler.
That video provides a nice showcase of a good player mocking Dark Inferno, but for every reprisal, there's a good chance DI would have no-selled and attacked the player mid-combo. He doesn't care how good you are, only what the boot RNG number is. That number decides if he'll stagger or not when you use a reprisal.
They all have the same basic bitch feedback loop, 2 doesn't do anything different.
Yeah, it's not really except for fighting the Sillouettes/arenas as soon as possible , but it still requires more awareness than that and there's still a decent amount of interesting battles throughout the entire game that let you make use of the mechanics. But of course it ain't perfect, and I definitely think the Crit mode damage buff is a bit too excessive and the main cause of that problem.
It would have if all that nonsense about the princess meant anything more than just egging Sora on. Also he didn't stop their plans in Toy Box, Monstropolis, or San Fran, they got exactly what they wanted from it and left. Also Caribbean was completely worthless since neither the box was there, nor was Davy Jones' heart worth researching to Vexen.
Problem with three is there isn't many times where it gets to shine.
From my experience unless he has attack cancels available or has a red attack next then he always gets knocked back
Show you're working
For me, he acted like none of the reprisals mattered on one boot, then I reloaded the save and he staggered for every reprisal and I killed him. I'm convinced it's a boot RNG that can sometimes fuck you over with consistent bad luck.
Maybe it was some kind of bug
Or removing all of this in game.
And fucking pridelands had anything of value happen?
Get the fuck out of here.
Pridelands was stopping Pete from forming the Disney cabal 2.0. Actually the first trip to Port Royal was too, almost forgot that one.
Oh, and Halloweentown with Oogie/Maleficent. And Pete/Jafar. Huh... I guess the only true filler in the first half of 2 is the Land of Dragons and Atlantica.
>Disney cabal 2.0.
That is as fucking rekevant as preventing Elsa from turning to the darkness.
Here is your last (you)
This is fucking ridiculous.
If it was complete then why did they hace to make a II final mix
>complete
>Had to have a Final Mix "fix" the easiness and lack of endgame content
I'm not sure what the point any of you are trying to make when base KH2 is just as fucking easy and boring as base KH3. Flowmotion is crap though, it's only a fun gimmick for a few levels, but combining it with magic so you auto Flowmotion is pure cancer.
Would you have liked to have dealt with them teaming up on you AND dealing with the Organization at the same time? No? Didn't think so.
I liked every game except Re:Coded and Days. I liked DDD more than BbS.
Fight me you fucks.
>why did they hace to make a II final mix
>Had to have a Final Mix
They didn't, cope.
It's all the speedrunner's faults. Kingdom Hearts was and still is mostly just fun and no one cares about fun anymore.
Are you fucking retarded I'll cut your foreskin off with my teeth if you reply to me again.
This might sound silly but I actually cared about the characters and story which 3d and 3 sent down the road of complete bullshit. BBS was bad but it didn't ruin the series as a whole story-wise and had it's moments
KH3 is trash
>They didn't
It's literally the same reason the JP release of FFVII didn't have the super bosses in it. They pushed it out before they were truly ready. And since Japanese fans are always ready to buy an expanded addition, there's reason games get so many rereleases in Japan.
Re:coded was pretty good gameplaywise, but the KH1 worlds getting reused for the 13th time and the absolute nothing story really holds it back.
Days is fucking garbage and you can't tell me otherwise.
I thought the rest were okay I guess.
I might shove you for your opinion at best.
Did a non greatest hits version of 1 even come stateside? I swear on my life I got it day one but mine is red too.
Each game has a unique and exclusive comfy to enjoy but KH1 is peak comfy. KH2 has tightest combat but also has the most plastic weeb undercurrent feeling of any in the series. 3 came close to capturing the KH1 comfy in Toy Story tho
>a few extra bosses means the game goes from middling to perfect
Lol, no. The game was already 9.5/10. some bosses and puzzle pieces didn't suddenly jump it's quality up 500%.
Yes it did, you must have not
3D did not send the series down the road of bullshit that lead to 3's story. That was Birth By Sleel. It introduced the keyblade war, the keyblade graveyard, Xehanort, demystified the keyblade, literally copied the awful star wars prequels. Everything that 3D did was a follow up to that. But at least 3D had Sora and Riku and not the awful trio of dumbshits. The idea of putting your heart in someones body to live forever is objectively worse and bullshit than 3Ds time travel. It set up Ventus and Braig being a big bad which lead to the fucking gacha game which the keyblade war also did. Bbs lead to fragmentary passage too. You're wrong.
>2
>almost 10/10
Jesus fuck, I've seen delusion, but this is pushing it. 2's Proud Mode is the same difficulty as 3's. And it didn't have nearly the amount of combat options that FM added that makes it better, you lazy piece of shit.
No, but it had some cool ass shit in it. I liked the finisher unlock tree, it wasnt executed well but the idea was neat. Command melding was poopoo but it made for some rewarding grinding. It also had the best final act of any KH game as far as narrative incentives to keep playing. I was fucking glued to my PSP for all of the Keyblade Graveyard parts.
Give me a minute, I got the game literally on release and it doesn't have the Greatest Hits listed.
I meant to say chain of memories I didn't actually play recorded. I tried the shitty remake of CoM though I really want to play the GBA version to give it a fair chance.
>combat options that FM added
What combat options? Fucking KH1 mode? Whoop de doo.
I mean I love Kingdom Hearts and I'm pissed that KH3 had Osaka team behind it, but I'd be much more bummed if FF7R was a flop. I'm glad they're putting their best on it.
time travel and the power of waking did way more damage to the series then any of that shit and was completely unnecessary. All BBS did was a weak attempt at lore and could have been completely ignored besides explaining who xehanort was
>pretending any of this was good
Unironically what I've been doing since I finished KH3.
DDD or 3 was the second most comfy after 1 to me. And I agree about 2. Although Twilight Town during the Roxas prologue was just as comfy as 1. It was only a part of the game though.
DDD needed to slow the fuck down with its exposition but it's fine when I replayed some cutscenes and read about it. The entire nighttime festival dream motif of the worlds was comfy to me. TWEWY and Twilight Town being expanded. I love pet raising games like digimon so I loves the dream eaters. I loves Tron legacy back in the day too. You never knew what was really going on which reminded me of 1 but it was a bit too nuts. It was hilarious though and I'm half xehanort makes me laugh every time.
It also depends on where you hit him in his attack animations, if the animation is halfway done or more he's going to complete it. If he could get knocked out there it would blend like shit and look broken.
The only thing Final Mix added was an endgame dungeon, some new super bosses and cutscenes (one of these cutscenes being hilariously poorly placed), and some balancing tweeks. Apart from that, it's literally the same game except with more side content.
How did time travel and power of waking do any damage to the series?
Plus Time Travel was on 2 and it was even more broken and every game during and after begs the question why Merlin didnt use Time Travel to help anyone after or before the Steamboar Willie world. Whereas DDDs has specific rules and guidelines that were only used to get bad guys together for 3 which didnt ruin anything.
>some
You mean the whole Org and letting you fight Roxas instead of watching a cutscene? That certainly seems a hell of a lot more than just "some."
Just because you were a mallgoth weeb and ejaculated to the thought of tri wielding keyblades doesnt mean 2 was 9.5
Oh so it was an extremely little amount of content the same price as the original release of the game that you had to buy a second time.
If you complain about DLC for 3 too I swear to god
I swear DDD was a manga they forced into a video game format. It wouldve worked great as a story if it was in small pieces released over a long period of time. I agree about the Twilight Town opening in 2 being comfy, I always forget that it's part of the same game as the rest of 2.
2FM is well agreed to be Square's gift to the series, so... yeah.
3's DLC is a quality issue, not price. As in it's going to be garbage quality and even if it weren't nothing could salvage 3 at this point.
The staff that made up the "Tokyo Team" have all either left SE entirely or been spread out among its multiple development teams.
>I swear on my life I got it day one but mine is red too.
Greatest Hits doesn't happen until a year after release. You absolutely did not get it day one.
My memory is really bad so allthe plot falls out if my head when I try to remember a game. I usually just play games for the atmosphere and fun.
But there are really great hints of stories and characters I wish they slowed down to explore further. Or you know plan the games and kill the entire gacha game phone industry and tell Nomura's gambling ass to fuck off with making KHuX so important to the deeper lore.
I wish Nomurs would actually explain less. And he's addicted to plot twists. It's more like a soap opera than an anime. I still love or but I'd like an entire game that felt like the prologue to 2 or something. Or a game that had very little stakes and was just about characters traveling through worlds. I dont know I'm rambling.
>the whole organisation
So five extra bosses on top of the Org fights that were already in the vanilla game? That's not that much.
>fight Roxas
Again, one extra boss isn't that much in the grand scheme of things.
How can anyone think 2FM ISN'T just vanilla 2 with some bonus bosses and collectable stickers to justify actually using the growth abilities.
>Or a game that had very little stakes and was just about characters traveling through worlds
Well, last time that happened nobody played it, and to this day shit on it for not being important enough
bbs' combat is really fucking cool until you realize the optional way to do literally everything is using 2 moves and that leveling has to be grinded in one spot for fifty fucking levels
optimal*
Except that it did have stakes that it forgot about until the last 2 hours of the game. It was just a weird world hopping mess until the end when they were like "oh yeah the journal is super important you'll see"
The reason why most KH games have bad combat is because Nomura doesn't understand what makes a good combat system. He said in interviews that he plays the KH games on Beginner and that if he personally can't beat a secret boos, then it's deemed a good boss. KH2's combat was a fluke.
squareenix was still mostly squaresoft, kh1/2/whatever, ffx, the card kingdom hearts game and a few others are the swan songs for this company
every game after squeenix merge is like throwing that dead swan on ice and eating parts of it gradually but getting food poisoning after every time, twewy is that one piece you cook that didnt make you sick and was pretty enjoyable
It's lightning in a bottle that can never be replicated again
Most of what they got right happened completely by accident and it shows with every following game
>tfw Squeenix still hasn’t made another game like TWEWY
