Prove you actually like these characters

When did you realize that you like these characters? What interaction made you think, "Boy, I sure do love these characters guh-huh", and why is that? Describe the scene or post a link to a video.

This should be a simple task for those who enjoy boasting over their love for these two.

the third save slot in banjo kazooie has the music modified to sound like it's from a gameboy, because banjo is playing a gameboy
that's when i knew DUH-HUH was a gamer, like me

it's weird to see banjo moving without kazooie carrying him absolutely everywhere though, cause that's how you play the whole game more or less

I don't fucking know dude, I just liked being a happy bear with a bitchy bird in his backpack. I can't explain most of my good feelings.

Do we need to write you a fucking thesis to complete yourself?

1998

banjo's run animation is the talon trot, so when playing smash that's what you'll be seeing the vast majority of the time.

watch and learn, youngster

I've always love the save file selection. You could say that was a strong sign that I was in for a treat. I think what I really loved about it was the way something could go wrong any other time you'd make your selection.

I want to fuck banjo

I think it has less to do with banjo and more to do with Rare. I haven't played a Banjo game but I have played many Rare games like Diddy Kong Racing and Goldeneye. Personally though I used Conker more in DKR than Banjo as a kid. The reason for rooting for banjo in smash is simply he had the highest chance of appearing on a Nintendo console again of all of the microsoft owned Rare characters. All things considered I would have been rooting for Conker but I have mad respect for Banjo and one of these days I plan on picking up a Banjo-Kazooie cartridge even if I were to get Rare Replay. It all really depends on how much disposable income I can get my hands on.

>When did you realize that you like these characters?
i dont

I played the games growing up. That's about it. I probably wouldn't care as much if I didn't, but I assume that's the same for everybody.

haha I love it when funny bird and bear jump and say UH OH WEEEE

Is this a copypasta

Banjo and Rare as a whole back in their heyday. It was a very special time for video games and it's a shame they couldn't enjoy another renaissance while with Microsoft.

When I played the game in 1998. BK is what solidified my love for video games as a child and remains one of my top 5 games to this day.

The smash trailer kinda made me start liking them
youtu.be/I67pPXS96UI

none. i played the game as a kid like most people on Yea Forums and i just liked the game. the camaraderie i currently and have always had with them was developed entirely in my mind after i played the game. like a "wow banjo kazooie was fun i like them." the memes and smash requests came later in life when i was a bit more mature and after my multiple replays of the game.

it's the same thing with Mario. there's few things he actually does that makes you really like the character. it's just that he was the star of a fun game you played as a kid and you developed some attachment to him for that reason and that reason alone.

When I played their games as a kid and found them fun. Fuck you lmao.

>Do we need to write you a fucking thesis to complete yourself?
Sure.

>youngster
I grew up with BK. I just want to see why other people like the characters. What did Banjo or Kazooie ever say that made people resonate with them? It feels like people just have their own headcanons for the characters rather than actually liking them for who they are.

People play up just how jaded Kazooie is and it's never funny.

They were the second game I got for my N64 after Pokemon. I remember obsessively playing the demo for Kazooie in Target before I got the N64 or the games because my mom would leave me there while she shopped (sip, different time and all that). And then as I played through Kazooie and eventually Tooie and absolutely loved them (it helps that I was at a super impressionable age and it was one of my first impressions of Vidya, no doubt)

The third or so N64 game I got was Super Smash Brothers which I saw at my older cousins house before begging my dad to get it for me. I remember to this day being absolutely mystified by it and seeing him go through the classic mode and fighting master hand. I was also confused but excited that Pikachu and Jigglypuff were there.

Then later as I played through Tooie my older cousins started dropping knowledge on me like how Banjo was owned by Nintendo and how he was considered likely for the next Smash on the new console. Needless to say I was excited. Them the Microsoft buyout happened and the rest is history.

Banjo and Smash are two of my earliest gaming experiences and my very first console gaming experiences period, they're very near and dear to me and ended up being intrinsically tied together in my mind from that impressionable age onward.

I've always loved Banjo-Kazooie, ever since I was a little kid. I didn't own many video games growing up, so both Kazooie and Tooie were my childhood next to Pokemon games. When I rediscovered my old cartridge of Banjo-Kazooie, my old save file was still there. I never actually beat Kazooie until I was older though.

This scene always made me feel funny as a kid.

When JonTron made videos years ago praising their games as his favorite games of all time. I then downloaded and played them on an emulator and had a blast.

This is how I feel about it. I wish there was more to it and there kind of is, but I'm just not sure. I do like the characters. I just wish I liked them more.

Ahoy!

Attached: Pirate.jpg (1280x720, 37K)

I never played the games but the characters look amusing and a good fit for smash bros. there are lots of characters I'd prefer though

Good story, user. It reminds me of my own childhood.

I feel like a lot of people don't play the game and just like them for JonTron.

When I picked up my uncle's N64 and asked him if I could play this game with this cute Disney-esque bear. Then I just went off the moment the bear guy went "Guh Huh" and started playing his instruments.
Then I just went on from there

I've commisioned lots of porn of the two. Does that count as proof of love?

When I was in high school I moved from the home town I'd lived in for my entire life and lost basically all my friends except the 1 xbox live friend I'd played Minecraft with. I downloaded the demo for the first game and it really intrigued me, reminded me of Nintendo games and the kinds of platformers I'm in love with. Eventually I ended up buying the first game and that rest is history. While I was lonely and sad it was one of the few things that still made me smile, and same with Banjo-Tooie, and yes even Nuts and Bolts. This was in 2013, and yeah I know I was late on the train but I couldn't possibly love the games more.

I'm 21 now, I've moved closer to home, and I'd been gunning for them in Smash since that day in 2013 when I beat Kazooie and moved on to Tooie. When I saw that DK trailer start up yet again my heart skipped a beat, only for my hopes and dreams to be confirmed when I saw the jiggy hop accross the screen. I cried then, I cried while typing this. I fucking love my goofy bear and bird game. They're so fun and I just can't help it. All of them, even Nuts and Bolts, just they're all so good man. I can't help it. I fucking love them. I'd give my life just to be able to help bring them back into the limelight.

This game was pfb desu.

I grew up in an area with no major video rental stores, just a little mom and pop shop. I went into it way back when looking for something to spend my allowance on, and I saw an N64 game that caught my attention right away, what with it's colorful box art and lively characters. It was Blues Brothers 2000. I rented it but it didn't work so I brought it back and got another game instead, Banjo Kazooie. I had no idea it even existed at that point, but it grew on me. I ended up renting it so many times that I could have probably just bought several copies of my own.

My grandmother & two cousins got me the game as a birthday gift back in '98, and I played the shit out of the game since, but I was bad ass hell & could only make it up to Clanker's Cavern before I got lost like a total brainlet. A lot of my love of the game is probably attributed to how much I loved my grandma, and upon replaying the game, there's a lot of sections I just don't care for, like Click Clock Wood, but I'll always have the happy memories of me & grandma as a child painted with the bear & bird, and that's why I'll always be fond of Banjo & Kazooie.
As far as the later games go, I thought Tooie was the fucking bomb, and Nuts & Bolts was pretty okay, all things considered.

I remember the promo video before it came out narrated by Jon Lovitz. That was awesome. I love the original one. It's one of the only games I've ever 100%'d. I didn't really like Tooie, because it was too open. Nuts & Bolts is EXTREMELY FUN to fuck around in, but terrible to play as intended. It's great to do the glitched hover trick and get powerful parts early, then design some fun cars and dick around with it. Game itself is terrible trash.

All in all, Banjo Kazooie is a solid 10/10, Tooie is great but not my style and N&B is just trash.

Sounds like a good memory.

Not without pics.

I'm glad they finally made it. I've been rooting for them since Smash 64/Melee.

Twenty years ago when my brother got a 64 for Christmas and he, my sister, and I played Banjo-Kazooie for the entire next day.

Nuts and Bolts doesn't get enough credit man. It's a Good game on it's own merits that was really hurt by the fact it was the only Banjo game we got during the Xbox years.

I really fell in love with it when I finally gave it a shot. Really was worth playing, I'm hoping and praying we get Rare Replay on Switch and that Nuts and Bolts, Ghoulies, VP, and Kameo all get the love they deserve from Nintendo's audience (who I personally think would "get" more than Xbox's audience) and just in general to be able to play the beautiful HD Banjo ports on a handheld would be wonderful too.

I played the original Banjo Kazooie as a kid and loved the gameplay, music and humour. Kazooie being a sassy cunt and Banjo being a (mostly) nice guy was a fun duo.

Why does it have to be specifically what they said? Why not an association with a game that you love as a whole? Surely that counts just as much as liking Captain Falcon because you like the F-Zero games.

No it sucks balls

How can you praise a car game with shit handling?

I hate Canary Mary.

>When did you realize that you like these characters?
When I watched Game Grumps play their games.

When all I do is draw them.

Attached: banjoshirt.png (6000x6000, 1.35M)

When I played Banjo-Tooie and it was the greatest game of all time
Banjo-Kazooie being pretty good was a bonus
Kazooie clowing on Bottles two seconds after he fucking dies was pretty funny, too
I also liked when Banjo acted like he wasn't going to choose Tooty as his "prize" for beating Furnace Fun

Attached: 1566256080368.png (389x368, 225K)

They are cool

Thanks for describing actual scenes from the game.

I want to draw them, but Banjo seems really difficult.

You can appreciate it that way. That's fine. I'm just curious about the perception of the characters themselves.

Best reply

When I played the game and it was fun. I'm not writing my college thesis based around characters I like just to sate you, faggot.

I wanted to like them, but I couldn't get into their game when I rented it.

They're one of the first videogame characters I've ever played as since the N64 was the first console I've ever played on.
But to point to something specific the idle animation where Kazooie pokes Banjo and giggles until Banjo has enough and catches her throat is a small thing I remember that really charmed me.
There's many moments of the pair having a dialogue event with one of the NPC's where they play good cop bad cop but all of that coupled with the visuals and animations of their antics really appeals to me in a way that nearly no other character(s) from another videogame can.

unironically when I played the driving game when I first got my xbox as a kid

saw on twitter the health issues hope you get better bro

>One or two sentences/a youtube link is too hard for me
I'm sorry to hear that, user. Maybe you should try and reeducate yourself. I know a 4th grade reading and writing level seems difficult at first, but it's certainly doable.

I bought an everdrive and played Banjo Kazooie for the first time in 2018 and I thought it was a very good adventure game

>played Banjo Kazooie as a kid
>adored it, also played a ton of Diddy Kong Racing with my cousins so Rare had a firm grasp on my childhood
>for some reason I felt nothing when it came to them getting in Smash
>was completely indifferent to the Banjo support train, didn't care for the Grinch leak etc
>trailer drops
>HOLY FUCK ITS THE TALON TROT
>HOLY FUCK ITS BOTTLES
>HOLY FUCK ITS THAT MOVE KAZOOIE DOES WHEN YOU JUMP AND ATTACK
>amazing reveal but feel like I don't get to partake in the celebration
Feels bad bros.

Attached: 1530575834909.jpg (1080x1080, 205K)

I don't need to. A friend of mine likes them and it makes him happy.

i wanted banjo-kazooie since i saw the preview vhs from nintendo power with jon lovitz, and i don't regret my decision. sometimes, i still do the bottles tutorial, not to refresh my memory, but because of the charm oozing in all of their dialogue. did you know that kazooie calls bottles by names that were used in tooie for his family? she calls him goggles, jamjars, and speccy, and i'm pretty sure it was all in these tutorials. god, i love this game.

When I played the first one and all Kazooie did was sass everyone

Attached: Bird n Bear.jpg (1024x1024, 157K)

I don't.

Diddy Kong Racing is where it started for me. I preferred Krunch, Pipsy and Conker (before he was turned into literal shit-humor), but then finding out Banjo actually had his own game at a childhood birthday was a game-changer. Everything from the sense of finding/unlocking levels in Grunty's lair to all the little character and enemy touches did wonders for me, and nothing's quite filled the same hole for me since then.

>I cried then, I cried while typing this.
I'm 27 and grew up with an N64 and I think you're gay

I always liked that B&K roughed each other up/ It's a seamless integration of a female character without incessantly reminding you that it is.

Attached: 1549399590054.jpg (219x230, 14K)

Not a single character I'm familiar with or attached to has gotten in as DLC so far.

Attached: 1541634838653.jpg (219x230, 10K)

Aren't we all user?

Since I got the game for Christmas. I rented it a few times and was one of those kids who would just play in previous save files. But getting the game brand new, I played it all Christmas day, it became one of my favorite games. I loved the locations, music, characters, ect.

Same when Tooie was officially announced. Also fell for the buying a 360 for Rare thing too. Nuts and Bolts wasn't anything special, but it was cool to see the Bear and Bird again on anything.

Their inclusion in Smash made me happy, especially since their Smash designs blow the last new designs out of the fucking water, no idea why Rare hired jollyjack to design for that game.

Attached: 1567185710989.jpg (355x532, 43K)

I loved having Banjo in Diddy Kong Racing. Something about him being there was absolutely magical.

wtf bros, we shouldn't have to prove anything to a random user

I'm 32 years old and enjoyed Banjo Kazooie when I rented it from Blockbuster as a kid. What more do I have to say?

I actually didn't pay much attention to the franchise until the smash speculation started really picking up. Played it on Xbox and it was a solid charming platformer. I liked it and Tooie quite a bit. Haven't played Nuts and Bolts yet, though. Also how's Grunty's Revenge? I don't see it talked about much here.

Only 3 have been announced and Banjo was the first for me. You aren't alone on this.

damn, what's it like not being able to express emotions, are you a robot or something?

I generally like Banjo-Kazooie more than Tooie, but I do like how Tooie actually implemented proper bosses, because stuff like Conga and Nipper certainly didn't feel like bosses. I also find it endearing how they were given boss titles like those in Zelda, just that they were completely silly. As far as interactions go, I can't really remember one from the top off my head. I liked Tooie's intro where they're playing cards before Gruntilda murders Bottles. I felt a little bit sorry for the dude, specially his wife and kids, and was kinda surprised at how much the game poked fun at that moment despite being so dark, in my opinion.

i played the first two games as a kid on my n64, and i liked them.

that is all.

i don't know, maybe three or four years ago when i played BK on my friend's N64 at college. just hanging out and i mentioned i always wanted to play it and he had it so i did.

>played Nuts and Bolts yet
don't user please

>When did you realize that you like these characters?
but i think gruntilda is better

Attached: 1446342685916.gif (250x229, 1.7M)

As a lifelong fan I am very interested in this perspective. Can you give us a little more detail?

Attached: 1543032377566.png (480x355, 184K)

That's fair. I was thinking about including her. You can't have BK without Grunty.

I liked Revenge but not as much as the original two

For me it would be Hero when he was revealed as a fighter for smash. It just gave me an excuse to play Dragon Quest and more and more am I calling in love with the franchise.

Attached: download (1).jpg (218x231, 7K)

More proof smash bump is real.

It got me to try the demo for XI and I loved it. I've looks like a good place to look when I'm done with the FF series. Turn based combat is comfy.

Well I'm 23 but didn't play it as a child. I grew up pretty poor and my mom was not a fan of video games. I had friends whose games I played, but none of them had N64s as far as I can remember. Every game and console I have I bought with my own money or was gifted in high school or later. One of my favorite games (and maybe the first one I played) over at friend's houses was Melee. Once I had my own money I got my first nintendo console (a Wii U lol) and played a lot of Smash 4, and resultantly followed the Smash Ultimate hype season. I was gifted the Xbox One by a friend for my birthday to play Sea of Thieves soon after it came out. Rare Replay was on sale for around 10 dollars so I got it around the time of Grinchposting.

Playing Kazooie for the first time was wonderful. I really liked how bubbly and lively the world was. While I felt SM64 (which I played on Wii U VC) had better controls at first, I really grew to like how Kazooie controlled. I was also afraid there'd be too much tedious stuff to collect like in DK64 but everything in Kazooie felt concise and well-placed. As for Tooie, I liked how everything felt connected and expanded. The only thing I don't like from Tooie is Grunty not rhyming, but that's not that big of a deal.

There's the blogpost you ordered. Anything else?

Well if the Terry leak is true then that's another one I have no investment it. At this rate Harabusa is my only hope.

Probably Jontron's review of Nuts and Bolts, back when he was actually funny. Bought the original two games on my 360 shortly after.

Never really cared or wanted him in the game but always wanted another Banjo game. I originally played with my cousins every summer growing up on the n64 and the sega genesis. Banjo tooie and kazooie just happens to be one of those games I have fond memories playing the multiplayer with. I'd prefer conker over the group personally though.

Woopsie

No, that will be all. I wish Grunty had rhymed more in Tooie as well. It was supposedly changed due to her rhyming being "annoying", but I never felt that way at all. What kind of loser didn't like Grunty's rhyming?

The funny noises they made when they did their moves.

I was four years old.

I have every piece of Kazooie porn ever made saved to my hard drive.

I got close to getting 100% in the first game but gave up because the notes in click clock wood were giving me trouble. I came back to it after months and finally 100% the game at the beginning of this year. After banjo was revealed, I started the game again only to realize my save file got deleted. The cool thing was that I still had all of the stop and swap items when I started a new game.
Also, Gruntilda's last name is Winkybunion. Bunion is apparently british slang for butthole, Thus, there is an asshole winking reference in this game, not to mention countless other adult innuendos.

>When did you realize that you like these characters?
When I use to rent Banjo Kazooie every weekened as a 10 year old

I don't really have any connection to Banjo-Kazooie. I just wanted to see them revived after a decade of irrelevancy.

i bought the gba game

Why are smash fans so pathetic?

Gonna do mine, don't die yet.

Alright.

I don't.

Banjo-Kazooie was nice little stopgap on the N64 when I believed there would be a Super Mario 64 2 someday and I remember trying not to murder my kid brother for erasing my save game at the time when I got pretty far but by the time Banjo-Tooie was a thing I was already disillusioned with Rare 3D platformers. Donkey Kong 64 showed there's a such thing as too much shit to collect and I lost interest in playing and I sure as shit didn't have it in me to play Tooie.

Maybe I don't really enjoy exploration in 3D platformers that much. Maybe there's a certain balance of reward that I prefer from Japanese developers vs. the West. Maybe I just say BK1 as a means to an end at the time and I don't care to experience another game with the duo. I really didn't give a shit about their chances of being in Smash from the beginning and I don't see it as a sign of things getting better to be honest.

All I'm getting is that Microsoft doesn't want to be enemies with Nintendo and Banjofags get to eat their cake.

I'm stuffing my mouth full of this cake and I'm still have room for more.
