I like the Mysterious Magnum and the Gecko Backed Leather Armor, Reinforced. The armor looks perfect for the Mojave setting and provides you with just enough DT. The magnum just feels satisfying to use and plays a cowboy tune right before you blow someone's head off.

You don't know what "OP" means.
It means "overpowered". Pretty much the only downside of the weapon is the fact that the ammo is pretty scarce and the components needed to craft it aren't much more common.
I have never seen anyone here even mention this thing, let alone speak of it in a positive light.

Energy weapons don't seem to popular in New Vegas in general. I never even did an energy playthrough myself.

I hate using scopes since you cant take screen shots in 3rd person while aiming.
Also if you need more than 3 rounds of .308 JSP to kill something you need a different gun.

It's vital for doing low level shenanigans in Lonesome Road, to the point that I think it may have been created for just that purpose. But once you get through that first bunker you can start killing Marked Men and get some way better weapons.
