I wasn't a fan of GTA V character switching at first, but gotta admit it was a nicely realized feature that added more variety to the game. I ended up liking it a lot.
Now I doubt Rockstar will use the same trick twice, but I bet they will have some interesting gameplay mechanic in their next game. My guess would be:
>Play as single character >Start out as a kid >Then play as a teenager >Young adult >Middle aged >Eventually as an old guy, in the last segment that concludes your story and you die. Every age would have it's own storyline, but it would also follow the main story which would be your life. As you go over different periods, you'll see cars, fashion and whole city changing and evolving (like Mafia 2 did it to a lesser degree). It would be quite a departure from a standard GTA formula, but I'd like to see that.
its a cool idea but one that would lend itself to a open world game like GTA. how would you even do sidequests, would the radio stations rotate the same 10 songs for a entire period and lets not forget they will probably want to shill some new online mode so having different periods will complicate that as well
John Butler
You mean tedious and overly detailed item interactions? I doubt that. With RDR2 they took a more realism based approach, but GTA will always be more fast paced and arcadey
Ethan Torres
I wish, it would actually be a good game if so but gta hasn't been good in forever so I doubt it.
You can do both
Jace Morris
It's a great way idea to start as a teen and end the last mission in your 50's. But I think they will be too lazy to redraw the entire map and city with that time. For example my Dutch village had like 20k people 60 years ago and now 160k. Expanded so fast so they could definitely pull that off with some murican city too if they tried
Henry Jenkins
I think it will happen in two locations: Vice City and the fictitious equivalent of Havana.
Austin Edwards
I just came because of the Gauntlet Classic in your pic. I love that car.
Carson Adams
Imagine if you had to do a full take down of a glock or an AR15 after a heist in the game or have to plan out a gas station robbery and oock out clothing and a vehicle that you never use around the area and then have to be quick about it depending on the wealth of the area and how fast police responds. Imagine that you have to get to know the vehicle you drive like with a automatic transmission it is easier to drive but you are limited to selections and there are more things that can go wrong but with manuals you have to master the clutch and the stick but you have more options and the more you work with the vehicle you get better with it and you can get good at getting out of situations. Imagine that you have to take care of your vehicles like changing the oil and filling up the gas or deisel or recharging the ion battery depending on the vehicle and depending on the severity of the damage you have to call in a mechanic to have it towed and pay a fee to have it fixed or just ditch it and lose your closely bonded vehicle forever.
Imagination is just the only limit user.
Leo Morales
Oh wait nevermind, it's an actual Dodge Challenger and not the official gta bootleg
Cars will need gas and will be more personal/used for inventory
Expanded weapon carry system similar to Red Dead Redemption 2 and Max Payne 3
Multiple big cities to fly, drive or boat between
Zachary Lopez
It would be nice to have a bit more simulation based gameplay. Add VR support and I'm sold. Rockstar already did first person mode for GTA V, dipped their toes in VR with L.A. Noire, and they have unlimited funds to do whatever the fuck they want . Unlikely to happen but I'm still hoping..
GTA5 online ruined any chance of us getting a quality GTA game.
Ryan Young
>clunky mechanics with forced input delay and a radar that only works half the time No thanks. Rockstar is getting like Bethesda at this point with their outdated game design.
Eli Nguyen
I think the fact them having trevor killing johnny was a message to everyone that they won't be doing anymore single player dlcs
Logan Morgan
They will go hard on online mode. It will be 60 player experiences with jobs, quests and character progression. Something like Altis Life on Arma3 but more advanced.
Zachary Lee
Hopefully they improve on the H2H combat from RDR2
Anthony Lee
There is nothing realistic about RDR2's slow mechanics. You can loot items, run faster, and climb steep mountains in real life. You can't in RDR2. Unless I missed the part where somebody diagnosed Arthur with rheumatoid arthritis, it makes no sense to force the player to fight the controls with every action. Realism isn't a logical argument anyway. It's a videogame at the end of the day. If we're talking graphics or bullet holes staying in walls then yes, it matters. That's what makes RDR2 a good game despite its flaws.
Dylan Baker
I've read somewhere that some "leaker" said it's gonna have 3 different time periods, as the same character and it's gonna start in 80's and end in the current year, the city will change with time.
Grayson Gutierrez
please god no
Isaac Nguyen
Excellent way to nearly triple map development time.
Jaxon Stewart
You know that the interaction time with something is dramatically reduced depending on your position to that object making that just as much of a gameplay mechanic as shooting lol
I want the city to feel more dynamic rather then static. Little things like road construction moving around over time.
Ethan Perry
That already happens in V though
Ryder Green
After RDR2, I really would loathe the "chapter" or "segment" approach. I dont want another long, epic story. One of RDR2's problems was that people had to make a "free roam save" at certain points in the game because it was more fun to freeroam around at some points than others, and you dont have all the features at the end. This fucking sucks for an open world game. I want a nice open world and a lot of side content, I dont need a world that really changes at certain points forcing you to do this.
Gavin Wilson
the gimmick will probably be an extra short single player campaign to make room for online content
Charles Wilson
That's not a problem with the game though. The gameplay changes between chapters is one of its biggest strengths
Daniel Ortiz
Playing as a chick. Your idea sounds shit though.
Oliver Moore
We can be sure it won't be anything like a video game and more like a movie with horrible technology.
If I have to make a save before the end to enjoy free roam the most, I think it sucks. Free roaming should be fun after the story is complete. At the end of RDR2, you are stuck with John's ugly model, you don't have a camp, and you can't swim. Garbage
Cameron Allen
If they did 3 character approach again, one of them could be a woman, but I don't see it happening as a single main character. Would be interesting to have a character who is a cop though. We've never seen a storyline from that perspective.
I'd imagine multiple characters would still remain, not sure if they will do simultaneous or chapter based like 4, but personally I'm still surprised at the lack of female mc in GTA, it just seems like something that should of happened by now Cop would be great too, or even a firefighter, or anything, the sky's the limit with GTA why not a character that works as muscle in the porn industry, or running drugs across the border, or people smuggling, or a PI. I wouldn't mind a multi character arc showing the decline of one character, the rise of another and following one trying to escape their past. Really anything, it's not like they can do worse than GTAV again.
>What will be the big feature/gimmick in GTA VI? tits
Samuel Thomas
Playing as Luis in the fight club was so fun. Or listening to Dead by Dawn while playing as Johnny. That game was fun as hell l.
Gavin Price
Yea I'm also surprised we haven't seen a hispanic character yet, given their large population in USA. Mexico border drug and people smuggling storyline would be dope.
Ian Rogers
I heard rumors that GTA VI will take place in multiple cities throughout the country.
Charles Myers
That's a good idea.
Luis Powell
No single player
Easton Perez
Make the map less empty. GTA V has almost no buildings to enter. Nothing to do. I wanna be able to go into burgershot and get a burger, go to some fucky bar with a pooltable. just make the city feel more alive.
Ryder Long
I really didnt feel that the character switching brought much to the game, in some missions it was cool to switch around but the way that every character felt the same (the abilities werent that important). And the missions should have been designed so that you can change at any time, instead of specific moments, or having for a specific window of time. It made character switching an unreliable strategy since it wasnt always there to be used. For me I would like to have the combat have a much bigger focus. I liked how it was handled in RDR2, a lot of weight and downtime, for GTA I would really like it to go the Max Payne 3 way and outright have all of his mechanics, GTA V felt like a stiff version of that with the barebones only. In a way, if GTAV had a character play straight up like Max Payne 3 and the other like RDR2 that would have been fun.
Outside of all that, just a lot of world mechanics, jobs and shit that could be taken as minigames to earn money or build a small career (taxi, ambulance, firemen, delivery, etc...), but with some actual focus on how to make that fun instead of just grindy shit, Crazy Taxi exists so the concept of delivering people can be fun on its own, have it so that its a new EXTREME taxi company that has tricked out super cabs and promises wild rides to the destination. There, now every passenger is an adrenaline freak and you have to pull crazy shit to earn a big pay bonus.
>haven't done a hispanic character yet One of the main characters in GTAIV was hispanic. There's so many avenues for interesting gameplay, I wonder if they will ever bother to explore them. I already know that I'm going to be disappointed with VI anyway, because I know that Rockstar won't do a new location, just a reiteration of an existing one
Daniel Phillips
The last time I enjoyed a GTA entry was Ballad of Gay Tony
Owen Martin
It would have been so much better if you could switch characters while hanging out
Julian Foster
This. Gta is dead.
Connor Wilson
Yeah, the game mostly forced you into switching to the character it wanted, instead of letting you decide for yourself.
I'm pretty sure GTA V was made on the Max Payne engine, or some GTA IV and Max Payne hybrid.
Can you still get an ambulance or fire truck and make money from them? I do know you can still make money with the taxis.
Jackson Howard
Three characters but they all play radically differently
1 is a hobo, has survival aspects, always scrounging around, low ammo, low money, petty crimes
2 is a typical gta character with typical gameplay
3 can be a cop or something
Three main characters was a cool idea, but it was done shittily. Each character should have a completely different playstyle. One character could be like a hobo. While playing as him, you need to eat, rest, and feed your various addictions, like cores in RDR2. Ammo is harder to find, so you end up scrounging around more and being careful about getting into shootouts. You hardly py have money, since you need to keep spending it to survive. You're always poor. Second character can be like a typical Gta character. They have a car, plenty of ammo, no cores. Just normal GTA. Third character could be something cool, like a corrupt police officer, so you can stop criminals but still do some bad stuff. Redesign the city so there's more options to get around on foot. Running through alleyways, climbing ladders, places to hide, like GTA4 liberty city. Make it so all the guns don't kill people in two shots. Make the guns actually have inaccuracy so you can miss. Make the cops like GTA4 cops. Ditch all the retarded minigames. Who wants to do fucking yoga? Replace them with criminal activities. Fraud, drug dealing, robberies. Also, the conversation system from RDR2, but with more stuff like asking someone to follow you, (to lure them into an alleyway, an option to beg for money (success depends on your outfit), sell them drugs, (haggling and drug stock market) an option to mug them, or bribe, or gang recruit like in SA. Maybe a metagame where you run a gang or drug empire.
Liam Butler
>so having different periods will complicate that as well Not really, most MMO's these days have some sort of phasing/sharding abilities, while rockstar doesnt develop MMO's, i'm sure they could use something similar for switching between era's. And i'd say they could even expand the eras out to include some that might not be in the single player, like futuristic ones so shit like the oppressor MK2's and other similar shit in GTAV would be able to return without feeling out of place.
Henry Collins
Nah the switching was fucking stupid and felt like it was tacked on at the last minute, at least in regards to Franklin. He was absolutely pointless.
Jeremiah Jackson
mufuggin bix nood
James Turner
I imagine that idea would suck shitlogs from my anus since it would make the game even more fucking tedious than RDR 2 was
Isaiah Lewis
There is a US/South American border and border crossing is illegal.
Evan Flores
I think mine is kind of similar to yours and a bit GTAV. It's basically a Rashomon and or Resevoir Dogs kind of set up. Same story through different perspectives. It's seems like something they don't do nearly enough or at all in open world games. So basically you'd be using the sandbox environment with multiple characters one at a time, get PART of a story, a satisfying part, a part written specifically for that character then play again through a different story with a different character. And only once all stories are played do you get "full picture" of what was going on.
This could also open it up to a multiplayer where you get to play through the story mode with your friends/online strangers, although I think that might open it up to trolling. But no missions but break up objectives into timed segments that have players individually trying to accomplish tasks so that heists or assassinations go off smoothly.
I see shit like this implemented on RP servers. Not that it's bad but I think it's better suited to RP. I kind of think the appeal to games is just being able to jump in and do what you want. At a certain level of "realism" in single player or multiplayer, I think it starts to feel more overly complicated than immersive.
Luis Thompson
I could integration with some sort of online radio service, since R* has been through hell lately arguing over licenses.
Ian Ward
I just want snowy places and to be able to drive snowmobiles. Is that too much to ask for a GTA game?
Austin King
I liked Rashomon
Nicholas Rivera
stick with your fontnite or whatever the fuck it's called fucking zoomerfaggot
Jason Baker
Jon had a better and more satisfying story than Arthur's which was just an obvious wild goose chase from the very start and therefore everything felt fucking pointless. The only thing that really sucks about Jon's part of the game is that he can't swim and there was no reason for them to just go ahead and retcon that because it's fucking stupid to just take away features like that when you're over 3/4ths of the way done with the game.
Christian Green
I'd be into this as long as the protagonist had an interesting arc. Possibly something like Goodfellas where the kid is associated with organized crime and as he ages, he becomes a heister. Maybe he goes to prison in his thirties, gets out of the joint in his late forties and basically becomes DeNiro's character in Jackie Brown
I liked it for the variety it added and tediousness it removed. And I don't mean heists or joined mission - just regular gameplay. For example you just finished mission with Franklin, you played him for half an hour now, and there's a long ass drive to your next mission checkpoint - you say fuck that and switch to Trevor - boom now you're in the desert with a different car, different scenery and different storyline to follow. Feeling bored of it - switch to Michael and suddenly you're in his luxurious house dealing with some family bullshit. That's what I mean with variety. Playing same character in the same areas gets tedious after a while.
Bentley Clark
Who doesn't like Rashomon?
Brandon Myers
No it doesnt. Road barricades outside of scripted times based on your progress through the story are in exactly the same places everytime.
Brody Hill
I love this idea desu play as Henry Hill as a kid/teenager play as Neil from Heat as an adult get caught go to prison play as Louis from Jackie Brown as a burn out heister play as Mr. White as an old timer that has found his ground in crime again
The heists were the best thing about GTAV. More of that please.
Justin Bell
i get to bang ur mum rekt
Camden Torres
Okay but the map changes throughout the story. You're also blocked like that in V through money and weapons regardless
Jack Edwards
There will never be a kid in a modern GTA game. They could never navigate the PR nightmare of it.
Carter Watson
Sounds good >car trunks let you store drugs and guns >bring back restaurants >weighty shooting >you don't get wanted for shooting someone in the middle of an empty desert with a sniper rifle using a suppressor
Adam King
Nah it would be fine. You would be very limited in your activities of course, no murdering - just some shenanigans with some other kids, maybe some dramatic even involving your parents.. I feel that would add a lot to character development and relatability. I hate how no games do storyline where you grow from child to adult.. Only Fable and Fallout 3 did it to some degree.
>Implying there will be a GTA6 LOL Nigga, there will be no GTA 6 2K will just release a big ass DLC with some celeb voice overs and shitty as fuck popular music for 50 bucks along with tons of virtual bullshit to buy. It will make more then everything Activision will put out in a year and they'll do a line off of a technically legal asian whore's inner thigh and call it a day
Joseph Walker
My hands hurt
Grayson Morgan
the new, inovative, original, gimmick will be a character creator.
Samuel Davis
I swear to god if this is a rockstar employee leaking future gameplay im going to vomit
Easton Phillips
I hate Rockstar character creation, it is the fucking worst. I don't know what the fuck they're thinking when they slap those together.
Andrew Long
Dunno how hobo scenario would work out. If all characters live in the same city and abide to the same rules, they could make money equally easily too.
Gabriel Reyes
>that horse backflip i can't breathe
Christopher Anderson
All they literally need to do is make San Andreas 2 but they'll fuck it up and make it Fallout 76 with cars instead, online multiplayer only, p2w microtransactions again and slap a $100 price tag on it
William Lopez
it has nice model but one of most dull handlings of all muscle cars in game
Grayson Sanders
I just want a GTA spin-off where you play as the car driving successive criminals who keep stealing you.
Mason Richardson
Is GTA V single player any good? How does it compare to previous games in the series?
Bentley Clark
It's fine. Weaker than most but fine.
Logan Rivera
I want to go back to vice city in the early 90s.
Justin Jackson
Make the game actually about stealing fucking cars. They’d have to go back to the past to make this feasible. Set it in 1970’s NYC. Look no further than the Original gone in 60 seconds for influence. The Warriors, Serpico, Studio 54 shit. Disco, Punk Rock, Hip hop. Corrupt cops, street gangs, heroin, son of sam, the blackout, the riot, the hookers and porn booths in Times Square. Do 3 main characters, a minority, a woman and a white dude, split them personality wise logically around the culture they’d have taken part in. Have them all crash together to steal cars. Make the players hub a garage/chop shop where you really in depth chop up the car or customize it. There’s so many brilliant fucking things they could do with this setting. It’ll never happen. Just like Agent (rip)
Aaron Butler
I hope there's no gimmick.
I want more varied missions, mainly, and a good map.
Robert White
It's pretty varied and fun. Better than GTA4 IMO
Noah Harris
release gta4 again
Levi Torres
Looks like you want Fast&Furious:The Game
Austin Rodriguez
>What will be the big feature/gimmick in GTA VI Instead of being installed, the game will be streamed from their servers and require a monthly subscription to play single player. There will will be absolutely no multiplayer or mods.
Julian Parker
Just fucking have a good cop bad cop thing. You can play as a good cop or a bounty hunter.
Nathaniel Rogers
That is kinda the problem with "current day" - shit's so fucking dull crime-wise, it doesn't make for compelling fiction. There's no "culture" to it to sink your teeth into anymore, just random retards. We can't even enjoy cyber-crime anymore since public awareness is just barely sophisticated enough to understand that "hacking" isn't people doing magical cybery things in cyberspace, but most often just some faggot sending bulk emails.
Adrian Butler
Imagine if they implement the gtaiv cop system but put in the lawmen ai system from rdr2 but include the witness system from both rdr2 and gtaiv
Zachary Reed
Can we have a gtaiv that has rdr2 mechanics but refined and has better overall quality performance and include deeper meaning of vehicle keep up and use and gun use and maintenance and as well make it so our character can be dressed up however we want to and make him work out and be fit or not work out and be a fat fuck?
My most absolute demand is for the love of god PLEASE MAKE THE FUCKING TIME OF DAY NOT GO BY MINUTES AND ACTUALLY MAKE THE DAY ACTUALLY GO VERY LONG AS IN IT WOULD TAKE EXTREMELY LONG FOR THE FULL DAY TO HIT SUNDOWN AT LEAST FUCK!!!
Connor Jenkins
Hoping for it to be set in the past again. 70s Liberty City and its surrounding state would be nice. There were rumours of a late 70s to 80s Vice City setting however.
If they do character switching, I want it to compliment the drama more. One character is a criminal and the other is a cop. Or maybe two rival criminals, one at his peak, with the other rising up.
Matthew Scott
I didn't like character switching. didnt get as invested in their stories which sucked anyways. I hope gta 6 is hard. that would be a good gimmick. the dark souls of open world driving games :)
Liam Williams
He was the straight man but his individual plot was pointless. It's like the game forgot about the ballars for 75% of the game then panicked because they had to give him something to resolve.
Jacob Davis
>period piece setting >getting to play as a cop >single character story again >set in a place with snow or autumn, maybe in the midwest >customize your own apartment/house
>MAKE THE FUCKING TIME OF DAY NOT GO BY MINUTES AND ACTUALLY MAKE THE DAY ACTUALLY GO VERY LONG AS IN IT WOULD TAKE EXTREMELY LONG FOR THE FULL DAY TO HIT SUNDOWN AT LEAST FUCK!!! huh?
gimmick >female >asian >tokyo >you don't use guns you fuck your way through
Levi Rogers
>topples over for 15 minutes when slightly bumped
Joseph Gutierrez
I like guns
Isaac Cook
And i like dicks
Kevin Myers
The dialogue will get annoying with free time jumping. You know future periods will keep banging on about how THAT event brought them down from their peak with no one daring to go into specifics.
