What am I in for?
What race and class to pick? Any general tips?
Kingdom of Amular
A pretty mediocre arpg, and with mediocre I don't mean bad, but this is the perfect example of everything working as intended, but you get bored after 2 or 3 hours.
Pick any race, it doesn't matter, and you can respec your class so pick whatever you want too. After you get a few levels and get better skills, the game becomes even easier.
Sunhilda IS a CUTE wife user!
pure mage is most fun, but the slowdown on spell effects and when you hit get's annoying by mid-way.
also abuse crafting
mage with chakrams/staff is pretty fun.
It's a nice diversion. I 100% it back when it came out. I even liked the dlc, the pirate one especially.
>class to pick
Hard mode: melee
Medium mode: magic
Easy mode: bows
Yeah, I know. But a need a "comfort food" ARPG to keep me occupied because of my hectic work schedule like said. Would love to get into more serious dedicated RPGs during holidays.
Seems like mage is fun in quite many RPGs
>Hard mode: melee
How come? Is the melee combat challenging?
If you want a challenge, you have to go out of your way for it. Crafting skills will make you a god, until the last part of the game where you are a god anyways. Race doesnt matter. Classes are make your own, even going for all 3 classes are viable. You just miss out on the big flashy attacks at the ends of each tree.
Best advice: Dont get too far ahead of yourself. Each area is a self contained story, going into a new area will level lock it to a 4ish level range near your current level. so if you run through some place to get somewhere else, you will quickly outlevel that area.
Overall it is a well put together, paint by the numbers RPG, with a few interesting characters and a few areas with decent stories.
God damn dude, how many "wives" do you have?
melee is hard mode because its so boring
I DO have MANY wife user! I AM wife scholar user! (I am! I am!)
>Any general tips?
Only click on the blue dialogue options. I listened to every single line and by the end I wanted to kill myself
Nothing changes gameplay wise after the third zone, which is only like 1/20th of the game. The skill trees suck, as it's a "invest x points to unlock the next tier" type of skill tree. The combat is like if you took God Of War's combat and removed what little depth there is. The game is piss easy even when you play on hard and don't abuse crafting. The majority of quests have no effect on the world, even when they should. Enemy variety is garbage. Enemy tactics are non-existent. The main story is uninteresting.
On the bright side, it's fairly stable and bug free. The world is nice to look at. It's long game and is easy to pick up and put down. The combat *looks* nice. Dark elf waifu.
5.5/10
Thanks, some info here.
>is easy to pick up and put down
I'm playing it just for that. Need an "appetizer" game
Very uninspired, mediocre game. Good if you get it on sale. Hope you didnt pay full price.
(Looks nothing like the cover art)
I want to FUCK this thot
Is this the last bikini waifu?
Once you get to Mel Senshir, there is a merchant that sells backpacks and has his respawn flagged turned on. Kill him, sleep 4 days, and come back and can buy the bag again.
This is great because a bug causes quest items and sometimes other items to get stuck in your inventory, so space quickly starts to dry up.
Immunity to stagger trivializes the entire game.
Can I look like dude bro on the cover?
Best mode: Full Hybrid
Heed what he said about crafting. So few games manage to not fuck it up sadly.
I remember there being a bug that breaks fast-travel
that still a problem on PC?
Yeah, pretty much that. I'm 20 hours in, I don't really care about the story or any of the quests, but the gameplay is decent (even if it feels like a budget Dragon's Dogma) so I keep playing.
download the rape mod and pick a human race
I started this game and went straight to make a Dark Elf Thot.
bruh restart and make her a DROW
Its a singleplayer MMORPG
it's fun until you unlock all the skills you want and then it's just a spam fest
But I want to be edgy.
This. Play any other RPG.
give me some good ones off the top of your head
Diablo 1 or 2, Grim Dawn, Torchlight 2, Titan Quest, Path of Exile.
Literally a single-player MMO
Why are you posting completely unrelated genres?
It literally isn't.
They're ARPGs too. But if you want something closer to KoA, you could try Skyrim or Dragon's Dogma.
Imma be a shill for a sec and recommend GreedFall, comes out in a few days so I don't know if it's good or not.
So many games, not a single RPG among them.
>They're ARPGs too
They're completely different genres of RPG compared to KoA.
>Big open world
>Literally every quest is "please kill X enemies and come back to pick your reward"
They have the same gameplay loop, though. The only difference is that KoA has a big 3D world while the others are isometric games.
I love how you are just like that nice faerie dragon in SoU. Do you like riddles, too?
It's a fucking single player RPG with a large world space; how the fuck does that alone make it an MMO? Ignoring the fact it quite literally isn't multiplayer.
It was originally designed to be an MMO. They made it single-player because they were running out of money.
This game is a mmo that for some weird reason was released as a single player game.
I was bored to death after 9 hours
Explain this, I don't remember anything about a rape mod
They absolutely do not.
Have fun and go nuts. I played the entire game playing basically Sheeve as a monk. Busting faces in and electrifying bitches
its a ok game
there's a bunch of issues like limited storage space and level scaling areas
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.
False. I'll have to explain this again like every fucking thread about this game. Kingdoms of Amalur: RECKONING was always a single player game from conception. They were making an MMO simply titled 'Kingdoms of Amalur' that Reckoning's story was supposed to lead into. You can find footage of the MMO (Project Copernicus) that is very clearly not Reckoning.
This was my main playstyle. I really enjoyed the game, honestly, and played it the fuck OUT doing everything in every region. T6 mage for life!
I wouldn't do it a second time, though. Once is enough. Like Dead Money.
nice
From what I remember I spent a long time playing using swords and bows, with those abilities you can activate to give permanent poison on your attacks, but eventually I realized it was doing fucking nothing and mixing bows and swords began to feel like a waste of time so I just went full sword.
I enjoyed it until I hit a bug that softlocked me and my last save that was bug free was like, 8 hours ago.
It's nothing special, it's a weirdly "ok" game that isn't great. It's like, the definition of "okay."
Also, while playing, remember that it almost bankrupted the state of Rhode Island.
M+kb or controller?
It's basically an MMO without other players.
I heard Curt is running for governor of Arizona now. I can't wait for him to bankrupt my state for Kingdom of Amalur 2.
Does Arizona have more or less money than Rhode Island?
Surprisingly big world with a hefty amount of lore. The combat is extremely easy and the quests are MMO tier.
It's one of my "Fuck you I liked it" games. Bought it at launch and my biggest regret is not going balls deep with the collectors edition. I like to create my own challenges like not using crafting at all and only using unique items.
i played half dex half magic. flying around with feyblades and throwing lightning was fun. add chakram whatever those magic discs were or a bow as a secondary. any class with blink > class without blink
I would assume more but I don't have any exact numbers.
I played it on 360 originally and really can't imagine playing it M/KB. I'm redownloading it as we speak because of this thread. Gives me a reason to dust off my pad.
m+kb
Well, maybe it'll be really good this time, with the extra budget!
expect a remaster in the near future
>THQ Nordic
Well, yeah.
"Leave AA games with a niche following to me"
Chakrams
Okay but who's Amalur?
the world
Yeah but it's titled 'Kingdom of Amalur' so I assumed.
I thought it was really fun, actually I think I put about 100 hours into my playthrough, even did the DLC content as well. It's like playing offline WoW with more of a mystic lore to it.
You can literally just make any class you want, like you can do rogue+warrior or mage+warrior or just go like pure warrior. You can use two handed swords, or sword and shield. You can go pure stealth or do like some crazy stealth mage build.
Kingdoms of [planet name], not that hard.
Queen of Blueballsia
Which to pick?
Mage or Rogue?
You get that armor set close to the end.
Play on hard mode, pick armor that looks cool, not one that's really strong, ignore defense/hp bonuses on said cool armor, the game is easy already.
Always wanted to play it, never had.
The game is so soulless it's like grinding quest zones in WoW, except all alone.
not soulless, just half-baked.
It was actually designed as an mmo but was switched to single player due to money.
see
>A game so good, the government now owns it.
It's the Mega's XLR of video games
It's literally a singleplayer WoW clone though. The whole world feels like a backdrop because you can't jump or even walk on most surfaces, everything feels artificial and soulless. You just see a flashing marker and go for the next "kill X / fetch Y" quest. The story/lore is just some randomly generated high fantasy tripe with impossible to pronounce names and terms.
THQ bought it from Rhode Island.
You are a fucking idiot.
38 studios was making the MMO, called project copernicus, which was set several hundred years past the events of reckoning. Reckoning was made by a subsidiary company, called Big Huge Games, who made Rise of Nations.
Every thread you fucking dipshits say this stupid shit.
Single Player MMO with fun combat.
and even then it has more souls than the garbage we get these days.
really makes you think
The only thing you said that's true is that you can't jump.
Sounds like a thinly veiled "it was our plan the whole time, we didnt fuck up, we promise"
Do a Chakrams hybrid build that takes powers that boost your basic attack, and then just spam the Chakram combo. Decently fun, but once you hit the realization that you're playing what is basically an offline MMO it starts to feel weird as fuck.
It was supposed to be new franchise that would span multiple games and different media. It had a whole backstory and timeline set for thousands of years that they could make shit with.
The problem was, the MMO was supposed to be a "WoW killer", but was horribly mismanaged financially and creatively. Reckoning managed to get completed and released, but it all fell apart after that.
It is actually a very interesting topic if you look into it, about someone outside of the video games industry thinking they could just jump in and take over.
it's comfy
Dokkalfar girl. Because it's the only race that isn't ugly as sin to look at.
As far as class, GO FUCKIN NUTS. Game's easy. Everything combos into everything else. My favorite combo is explosive runes->longsword launch->longbow juggle->explode
KOAR is in my list of "Comfy flawed masterpieces" along with Two Worlds 2
I thought it was fun and it was a good time sink. The level scaling was retarded though 6/10 game.
Don't forget to use the Flawless Wide-screen patch for non aids FOV. Unplayable without it.
I can't believe they named the first character you meet 'Incel'
Like many others said, it's like a singleplayer WoW if that makes any sense. It actually has a lot of soul and personality and the combat is fun. It's a great game to chill while listening stuff in the background, don't take it too serious because the lore is pretty generic.
old shit fable wow clone is shit
Where does one find this
I remember playing it back to back with Dragon's Dogma and wondering why DD's magic system is so overhyped while Amalur allows you to do some cuhrayzee tier shit with it but you barely ever hear about it.
I think I pirated this years ago and dropped it after a few hours. Felt like an offline MMO
Because jap game good, west game bad.
this but post-unironically
I got about 5 hours in, does it ever get challenging?
I imagine most people haven't heard of Amalur and well, the descriptions of it being an "offline MMO" kind of sets a precedent.
Post yfw FATESHIFT
Better than WoW classic
t.AssMad Assmouthgold
Fateshifting enemies was so fucking fun, like if KoA did one thing right it was the cinematic kills on Fateshifts. Killing bosses with some OP ass anime attack was satisfying as fuck.
youtube please stop recommending this mouth breather to me
>Spiders are raping the fuck outta cannerot
>Go to spiderbitch's lair
>Ey bb u want sum fuk?
>BEGONE THOT
>*Combo her ass to death*
Fun game
Explain. DD's magic is praised because no other game lets you see the true havoc you unleash. Conjuring a tornado and sweeping up a dozen bandits and seeing them fly in different directions is something no other game offers. Raining down a meteor storm with the satisfying SFX.
